Breville Juicer or Naked Juice?

Ok ladies...I am so not a juicer. But cannot help but be wowed by the Breville Elite juicer. Besides it's sleek appearance, it seems you can put entire apples, kiwis, pineapples (ok, I exaggerate) in the chute and it comes out with a perfect juice.

My question is...is homemade juice out of a juicer really better than the Naked Juice line? You know, the Green Machine made by Naked is amazing, full of veggies and fruits, and so much easier than going to the grocery store, loading up on fruits and veggies, cleaning them, cleaning the juicer, etc.

I'm open to convincing...will a juicer really change my life? Or should I stick with the Green Machine?

Thanks so much!

I have a cheapo-juicer and would like to get a better one. I think it depends on how much you want to juice.

I use mine almost every day and I like it because I can control what goes into the mix. I do not like to have a large amount of fruit juice - I usually only use 1 apple and one lemon and the rest is green stuff - celery, kale, spinach. I like throwing in some ginger too for it's anti-inflammatory effects. I use this as a post-workout recovery drink and I have found that it lessens my DOMS and just plain makes me feel good.

My understanding of juicing is that you want the juice to be as fresh as possible to prevent deterioration of the nutrients.

I have not tried bottled juices as I don't like the amount of sugar they contain (even if it is the good kind), so I can't give you my opinion on those.

Hopefully someone who has tried both will be able to give you a better opinion :)

ps - thanks for the wart advice - I will discuss this with my doc at my next appt.

I have both a Breville and a Champion juicer. IMO juices do taste better when you make them yourself, plus they are not flash-pasteurized like the bottled juices are required to be, so they retain more enzymes. I also feel like some of the Naked Juice flavors taste "foamy," and when you make your own you can skim the foam off.

It does take a fair amount of time to wash and prep your fruits/veggies and clean up afterward, so that's a consideration. Most mornings I opt for a whole foods smoothie rather than breaking out the juicer - my favorite is mango-lemon or lime-banana-spinach, with water and ice. I use a Blendtec high-speed blender so it comes out nice and smooth, but I get the benefit of the fiber. Cleanup is quicker with a blender.

I really like having both options but I tend to use my juicer in spurts, whereas I use my blender for smoothies more consistently.

Corrie...thanks for the tip! I love that you mention kale...I was just wondering if kale would be a good thing to juice with.

I prefer juice made by a personal juice juicer to Naked Juice. It is undeniable because I am the one who chooses all this in person. I chose fresh vegetables that I liked, washed them and made juice with a clean juicer. The sweetness is also determined by myself. In a word, I am more at ease in terms of quality.

Oh man, I am NOT a juicer!! What I do love is making a quick shake and adding Dr Mercola greens powder to it. That way I get all the benefits of the green juice without all the mess!
