Breast Augmentation

I have read in post over the past year or 2 where some of the women on this forum have done this. I never have been against it but thought it was way out of my reach. Found out in the past few weeks it wasn't as costly as I had thought, although costly enough, but affordable...... and now I have found my hubby is all for it, we are both 45 and having 2 kids that are grown now took its toll on my breasts, so next year am having this done, and yes this is for me and not for him, although he will benefit lol......
I was just wondering how many of you that have done this, had to put it on a credit card, or pay off a loan to have it done? ............. Rhonda :7

Rhonda,

No opinions or discussions lol, just wanted to wish you the best of luck. My guess is that most people do put it on a credit card or opt for a monthly payment plan with the doc. It seems that most procedures- from teeth whitening to tummy tucks are available on some type of plan. Again, good luck, and congrats!

I would imagine that people either take out a personal loan or use a low apr credit card.

I'm all for them - people should do what makes them feel best about themselves. However, please make sure that you research the surgeons extensively. My cousin got implants a few years ago by a very reputable surgeon and it was a nightmare, she had to have another surgeon put in new, smaller implants a few months later. She was in a lot of pain for close to 10 months.

I got breast implants in 1996. The reason I did was because I was a healthy size B maybe small C. Well, I got pregnant, gained a lot of weight & also Had PIH with massive swelling. After I lost all my weight, my breasts shrunk, leaving me with flat, long shrivelled up breasts. Like a sock with a marble in it. Well, being only 26 yo, I felt this was a blow to my self-image. I don't mind some sagging but it was really more skin than breast tissue.

Anyway, went for a consultation. I had an Italian surgeon. Asked him for a large C cup. He told me my implant would be over the muscle because recovery was easier. I also had a mastopexy which is a breast lift. So basically he filled in my breasts. At 1st I felt they were too large, but it was probably the initial swelling. Now 8 yrs later they do sag a bit, but they look natural compared to other rock-hard, taut breasts I have seen. My husband LOVES them (pervert).

I also notice just about every surgeon that does implants recommend under the pectoral muscle. I think partly not to obstruct mammograms. But as I say, mine look pretty natural. I also wouldn't want them clear up to my throat. I am pleased with my results.:D

Thanks ladies for responding:7 ........ well before I had kids I was barely an A cup, and now I am a kind of sagging A cup, if you know what I mean, lost the form in the top of the breast....... I think I am stuck in between a 32 and 34 A, have always wanted larger breasts, so next year I can go for it..... Rhonda:7

I know what you mean about having babies and then having sagging breasts! I don't care what the women's magazines say - having babies and breastfeeding will forever change your breasts! I have read time and time again that breasts don't change after pregnancy - BS!!! they do - they never recover! I've thought about it, but it is expensive. I just don't feel as sexy as I did before kids! Its awful!

Rhonda,
Go for it! If you will feel better about it then do it. I don't care what anybody, including doctors, say. Nursing does change your breasts. I have NEVER yet heard any woman say how they like their breasts more after nursing. Before nursing I was a fabulous 34C. After nursing they looked like socks with golfballs in them!! It wasn't even a breast anymore just loose icky droopy flesh. So I had small implants put in (275 cc) under the muscle, had a minor lift and voila. They are gorgeous natural looking, with the appropriate mount of sag for my age. I made sure to tell the surgeon I did not want cleavage starting just below my neck nor did i want them so high you could set a dinner tray on them. Most important of all is research, research and research your PS. Email me privately for more info if you would like as I don't think this might be the best forum for plastic surgery discussion at length. Happy holidays!

I would say go for it as well.I know not everyone is for surgery, but to each their own,I say.
Right now, I am o.k with my boobs. There are a little stretched but they look nice in a bra, under clothes:) I have to make sure I wear nothing to low cut b/c you will see my strecth marks.
But, I do have stretch marks below my belly button which makes for a little bit of sagging when I am sitting.I assume it is streched skin and not fat.If I don't have anymore kids in the next couple of years,I am thinking I may get this skin removed. The mood may pass and we will see.But I know where you are comming from.
Lori:)

I would have the procedure done too, but some people have a reaction to them. A woman my husband plays volleyball with had to have them removed because her body swelled and she gained about 30 lbs. She was very slim and fit beforehand. That scared me off. I wonder how common that is. Probably a very small percentage, but she looked terrible until they were removed. I also read they have to be redone every 10 years. Plus I understand you lose feeling in your breasts. I don't know if I would like that. Just to add, those who are a B cup or larger, don't often realize how difficult it is to buy a dress or a decent outfit when you are so small. So you have my empathy. Good Luck. I hope you do a lot of research before having it done.

Lori,

I know you didn't ask for my opinion but I just wanted you to know a scar can be just as bad as stretch marks. I have a friend who is a size zero she's so small. She has 2 grown boys & a set of twins. So imagine her stretch marks. She had a tummy tuck even though her abs were muscular under the stretched skin. The scar in my opinion is pretty ugly too. So many people have stretch marks IMHO they are easier to get used too. Some people don't scar as bad, though. But just my opinion.

Thanks Lori,
Marla

Really? I never thought about the scar.Although, I did go into a cosmetic surgeons website and the pitcures weren't what I would be hoping for.Its not so much the stretch marks, for me,b/c I am use to them, its the little bit of skin under my belly button that sort of irritates me.BUT I could be ALL TALK....I may never have the nerve to do something like this. But I have read a few post on this forum from people who have this procedure done and they have never mentioned anything about scaring.Does your friend regret it?
Lori:)

Just my two cents, but if it's for a dress or a nice outfit can't you just wear fake boobies the old fashioned way? I've been known to do that.

I think if I were younger, I'd seriously consider augmentation, but at my age, I just don't care. No one sees them but me, and if I'm in clothes, I look great, and if I need more boobage, I just stuff some athletic socks in there. Cheap and no side-effects.

I am all for plastic surgery, and I will be the first in line for botox, etc. I think nice boob jobs are gorgeous, but I would never get one that inhibited a mammogram. It's just not worth it. My dear friend who was 31 died this October of breast cancer. She was healthy, energetic, active, and non-smoking with no family history. Breast cancer is extremely common and your breasts don't matter one bit when it comes to life or death.

I don't mean to be a downer, but something to think about.

For me after I had my son, they became bigger and better. They don't sag either. I only nursed him for 6 weeks though. I went from a B to a C. Hmmmmm. I guess everyone's different.

Lori- I was just 26, young & stupid. I didn't know any better and even if I were to ask the surgeon about all possible future risks or complications, I wouldn't know what to ask. After all back in 1996, I never thought about breast cancer. Isn't that sad. Now there is more public information about it. Also, I work in day surgery and pre-op & the reality of it is hard to ignore. It's almost everyday I see a patient for a needle loc or mastectomy or reconstruction or something and I don't even work in oncology.

Thanks for bringing up that point. Hopefully people will not feel down, just more informed from this post.

Hi Marla,

I probably wouldn't of thought about it either when I was younger. It's not pleasant to think about. I wasn't directing the message to you, so please don't feel that I was. What's done is done, you shouldn't have regrets. I just think it's great that surgeons do put it behind the muscle. Not to be vain but I have always had pretty good breasts. With age and having 2 babies and nursing both they aren't looking as good as the used to. I would love to get something done, but I probably won't. I think if I were really flat I would miss them. It's true clothes do look great with some boobs.

but...

If anybody watches the british version of What not to Wear, Trinny, one of the hosts doesn't have anything in the breast department, but she wears clothes that are still sexy. She wears higher neck tops. I think she looks great.

Lori

Not at all Lori. It's just something that came to mind when you brought it up. Being a nurse now, I get some people that try to wave off my instruction or teaching when they don't realize I can't take it for granted they know what they need to know. You know what I mean?

Marla:)

On the flip side, I have had a reduction. After kids, nursing and gaining an losing weight they were still huge and sagged so far south, they were in a different zip code. I had a reduction (and my thighs "done") 2 years ago and I've never looked back. I had it done at 38 when I was done with kids.
To tell you the truth - I now understand why women get implants. I was so unhappy with my size (too big) - no clothes fit right, I felt awful and unsexy. My husband loved by huge boobs, but I hated them. Whether you are small or just hangin' low, it is a huge boost to have them the way you want them! You can work hard on any part of your body but that.

As for my thighs - even when I was a size 4, I still had huge saddlebags. The started at age 16. Any clothes would bag at the waist and stick on my thighs. Now I am in proportion and I look "normal". I did thigh lifts for 10 years and could never get rid of them. I am so glad I went for it and now when I work out, I feel like I am working my whole body and getting results on my whole body - not just trying to get small thighs!
Good luck and let us know how it goes if you get them. I know some great support boards for breast surgery if you need them.
