Breakfast tips for those of us who dislike eggs?

Hi!
I need to get up very early to head to work each AM, and I have a hard time motivating myself to make an eggwhite omelet that early... It's not the time factor- I just don't have the taste for 'em! I am trying to increase the protein in my diet. I also need to lose 10-15 pounds, so I am trying to limit calories and maintain a healthy diet. I tried cottage cheese each AM, but that got old as well. Any suggestions to make eggwhite omelets more palatable in the morning?
Thanks!
Amy

I have developed an allergy to eggs (although I used to love having scrambled eggs every morning). What I've been doing lately is making a breakfast sandwich: Two pieces of toast with sliced turkey breast. Sometimes I put cheese on it. These seems to do the trick for me quite well.

kashi brand frozen waffles with either fresh strawberries in season (i freeze them) or sugar-free syrup

oatmeal (full cook.. NOT the flavored instants)

cereal (again, kashi.. i LOVE golean crunch and also their strawberry fields) i use light soy milk, as it's less fat and calories than even skim milk

try cottage cheese with either fruit or yogurt stirred in! my favorite is yoplait blackberry yogurt.

oatmeal pancakes (takes time to make... or you could make them ahead of time and toast them... a south beach recipe.. so healthy for you!)

quiche's are good too (but still eggs) another south beach recipe.. we amended it to use brocolli... could also add turkey sausage...

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

For eggs, I use 1 whole egg and 4 egg whites, top with salsa, tomatoes, mushrooms, FF sour cream and roll up in a WW tortilla. It's the only way I do eggs in the a.m. unless I make a casserole. The EFL book has 2 great egg casserole/quiches.

Other thoughts:
Cottage cheese and fruit
Oatmeal, topped with Cottage cheees and a few berries
Extra Lean Jennie O Turkey Bacon and oatmeal

Sometimes I actually have a lunch or dinner meal for breakfast also.

You know Boca makes a great sausage, it's high in Protein and low in fat, yet meat free. I liked them.
If you're trying to go for High Protein low fat kind of breakfast.
I've also heard that turkey bacon isn't too bad either, haven't tried it myself though.
Or just a protein shake. I like the Myoplex Light.

Happy eating!

WHy not try making up some type of smoothie. I have been doing this in the after my early am workout. You can vary what you put in. I like to use either low carb vanilla yogurt or plain no sugar, usually 1/2 a carton, then add some berries, whey protein, and some other form of energy like small amount of cooked oatmeal, wheat bran, & or flaxseed. You can add a spoon of peanut butter just try and make it balanced. I also add some ice and use water to help it blend smooth. It helps me make it till lunch without getting overly hungry.

I like the Gimme Lean soy sausage substitute. I sometimes use it to make a breakfast sandwich with some reduced fat cheese and whole grain bread or english muffin. You could also add the egg white if you're in the mood.

You could also do protein smoothies.

If i'm not real hungry or just in a hurry, I have a protein shake.
I use 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein (AdvantEdge by EAS)which is 20 g. protein, 1/4 c. 1% cott. cheese, 8 oz water, 1 packet of splenda and 1-2 frozen strawberries. It's really very good and quite high in protein w/ the cott. cheese added in. I've tried it w/out the cott. cheese and it just tasted like strawberry water. The cott. cheese doesn't make it taste cheesy or salty like you'd expect. It makes it thick and creamier.
I also like regular oats w/ 1 pkt splenda and lots of cinnamon.
It's really satisfying. I rarely eat eggs...just too much work;-)

When I started Atkins I tried some really weird stuff for breakfast (one of the things the book tells you is to think outside the box--breakfast doesn't necessarily have to be breakfast). So I started eating a lot of veggies like carrots, cukes, & celery with cream cheese and/or peanut butter and/or low carb salad dressing & the like. I actually found I really like it b/c it's tasty, & it's a nice light meal but still fairly healthy.

Otherwise I eat hard boiled eggs. :)
