braxton hicks, preterm contractions and exercise

Hi again,

This is just an update since I first posted my concerns, which were when I was about 30 weeks. I am now almost 37 weeks and the BH/ False contractions haven't stopped; in fact, they have gotten worse. However, every time my doctors check me, there is no change in my cervix. I'm still shut. In the last few days the contractions have been so constant and so bad that I don't want to go anywhere. They are especially painful at night. Also a few times last week I had some kind of uterine or abdominal cramp that lasted about an hour each time I had it. I have been swimming, but lifting weights brings on the contractions too much. I may stop for the rest of the pregnancy.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks for your update. I would think swimming would be just the PERFECT activity for you right now. Doesn't it feel great to be weightless in the water. Your getting so close...if you can put up with them JUST a little longer...you're almost there!!! Don't worry about weightlifting right now girl!! Prayers that the baby will come at JUST the right time.

Briee,

Thanks for the encouragement. Swimming has been a blessing. As most of us on this site, I am very active, but swimming is the only thing that is confortable to do. It is theraputic too.

I have been co comforted to know that other women have lots of these crazy contractions that can be quite painful. My OBGYN nurse and another OBGYN said it is more common after your first pregnancy. I just wonder why more books don't warn you that False contractions can be very very painful.

PS. Are you on baby #7? how is it going?

I'm NOT on baby number 7....nope nope not me. I've had 6 yes, but I'm not pregnant yet. (AT least I don't THINK I'm pregnant - NO I'm not...I'm not pregnant!!!!!). Did I say something to make you think I'm pregnant again - because I'm not....pregnant that is.:7 :7 :7 :7 :7 .

Regarding BH's...I don't think it must be TOO common or there would be more about it. I found next to nothing about these when I was pregnant. I had them just as hard with the first pregnancy as with all of the rest. That's just the way I am. I've learned to try to ignore them.

Hope all goes well these last 3 weeks and you can endure them.

Briee (The NOT Pregnant - can you tell this is a sensitive subject at our home. The last two were kind of close - for me that is - but if God wants us to have another...it's still possible. My dh and I were just discussing that as one gets older one can double ovulate (twice in one month) that would throw my plan for a loop. God's plans are ALWAYS better....but I'd just like to have a nights sleep sometime in between this one and the next.) Maybe he'd give me a baby that slept all night...he could hold back the waters for the Israelites to cross...but somehow I'm needing more faith to believe that he could give me a baby that actually sleeps all night. :7 :7 :7

Ksandvoss - HANG IN THERE IT WILL BE OVER SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey you made it farther than I did, and that is WONDERFUL because now you are full term!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes the contractions can hurt, sucks doesn't it. Also my abs use to BURN from contracting so long, NOT a good feeling. Hang in there, so glad the swimming is helping you! Can't wait to here baby news soon! :)
