Bowflex owners

I think the model with the flexible rods is being discontinued. I have that type. It works, but I like free weight lifting with Cathe better. I have better range of motion that way. I think I do have a deluxe type model.

I might look into the newer model if I were you, just because you may need parts and accessories later on. If rumors are correct that the rod model is being phased out, it would be more difficult to get those items later.

But I see Bowflex machines for sale all the time in local papers for around a hundred dollars. You might want to consider getting the best you can used. Check your local sale papers. You might be surprised at the deal you can find.:)

Sandra, where did you hear this? The Bowflex machines with power rods are still very strong sellers for Bowflex, so I have a hard time believing they'd discontinue them anytime soon. Bowflex still offers several power rod models on their website.

We have the Bowflex Blaze and we really like it. We didn't see the need for getting any of the more expensive models, and so far, we're happy with our choice. We've had the Blaze for maybe 9 months or so. Before that, we had an old old OLD Bowflex model (seriously, it was like 15 years old) - it worked just fine, and had held up very well over the years. The only reason we replaced it was because it just didn't offer the ease of use of the newer Bowflexes, plus we wanted a lat tower.

Some of the drawbacks of the Bowflex
(1) the weights on the power rods do NOT correspond with free weights. I can generally lift "heavier" on the Bowflex. It's not really a big deal to me, though.
(2) If you're exceptionally tall or short, it might be difficult to use for certain exercises, but I think this is true of any weight machine. I'm 5'2" and DH is 6'4" and neither of us really have any big problems.
Other than that, it's a great machine to have around and I'd certainly recommend it to others. :)

It was a consumer-type report I read somewhere over a year ago. The article claimed the bow type was being phased out. Bowflex brought out the new Revolution model awhile back, which probably fueled the idea. It could all be a rumor, but still if I were planning to invest in a new model, I would want to know about it. If I were just buying a used model cheaply, I wouldn't pay much attention to that idea.

The model I have is very sturdy, and I don't see ever needing any parts or accessories. It has the leg extension already. But a man might need extra rods. Mine came with 210#s of resistance. It has extra space for more rods if needed. I even tried the lat tower to see if I could do a pull up on it. I could, if *I* were able. LOL!
