Boot Camp Questions

I just did Boot Camp for the first time. I really liked it, but am not sure what type of workout it is.

-Does this count as a cardio at all? Or is it weights? My HR is up throughout the tape, but I know there's not much cardio. I don't know where to include it in my workout log.

-Is your HR supposed to be up throughout the workout? I always thought you shouldn't lay down if your HR was elevated, but mine is when Cathe has us do core work and pushups. Just wondering if I'm supposed to let my HR go down more before doing the floorwork.

Thanks!

I've always heard that you should always keep your head above the level of your heart when your heart rate is elevated, so lying down right after cardio is supposedly a no-no. I've only done BC once, but I didn't have any problem with feeling light headed when going to floor work. If you do, you might want to put in some more rest time before the floorwork (though with push-ups, you aren't really lying down). I DID have some lightheadedness on Cardio and Weights when doing the lying down exercises right after some standing exercises (I think it was with lying tricep exercises after doing some standing ones). I definitely felt WHY you're not supposed to lie down at a time like this. I'm going to take more of a bread in this section of the workout, to allow my HR to go down.

I had trouble with lightheadness/dizziness in Boot Camp when I got up from the core work to go into cardio again...does anyone know if this is particularly dangerous or just a slight inconvenience??

Cathe has said that this workout is designed to boost overall stamina so that you can perform longer during both cardio and weight workouts. In C&W, in between the cardio segments, she has you laying on the step to do extensions but my heart rate still stayed high. My only problem- my sweaty back on the step made it pretty slippery! I love this new series so much! P.S. If you have the DVDs, for Boot Camp, I would suggest doing the cardio/lower body/upper body premix, then do the all core work premix afterwards. This will keep the heart rate up for sure!
