Bodypump

I have a question for everybody. I am an avid Cathe user and have pretty much all of her videos. I consider myself advanced. I am thinking about signing up at Golds just for the purpose of working out with others...trying to change it up a bit. I am most interested in their spinning and Bodypump. Has anybody ever done Bodypump in a gym? What do you think of it? I can do any of Cathe's videos without much modification, would this be a challenge to me? I am trying to tone up and maybe lose like 5lbs. before summer. THANKS!!!

Jenni

Hi Jenni,

I used to take BodyPump a lot at the gym where I work. I really like it a lot. I don't do it anymore because I really like working out at home with Power Hour or Muscle Endurance.
The challenge of Body Pump lies in the weights that you use. It is an endurance workout, where you do a lot of repetitions for each muscle group (each muscle group is worked out to the length of one song). You do different tempos like Cathe does, such as a 2/2 count, 3/1 count, etc.... they even have low ends :)
I would try the class out first if you can because in my opinion, the greatness lies in the instructor and the energy of the class. The class I used to attend had a fabulous instructor who made the time just fly by (she would make funny remarks like "If you sing the song, you burn more calories") and the class just had so much fun energy to it. Other classes I have gone to were torture.... 2 up 2 down, blah blah blah....
I would test it first... do a check it out thing:)

People at my gym are truly addicted to Body Pump.... You may become addicted too :)

Hey Jenni, I've been teaching BodyPump a couple of times a week for over 2 years and love the blend of Cathe's workouts and gym workouts. The music in BodyPump is fabulous, a motivating mix of new techno and trance with some re-mixed pop (current and older) favourites. I have to admit though, I don't use my Cathe full body workouts anymore, BodyPump is a great muscular endurance workout (moderate weight, high reps) but don't give up the slow and heavy lifting, we need that too!:)

Take Care
Laurie:)

Thanks guys. I am gonna see about trying the classes out for a week because I completely agree with the instructor comments. I took gym classes for a long time because my instructor was awesome....only one I have found that is as hard as Cathe. I think I am gonna order power hour too because I have heard that is alot like Bodypump. THANKS
