can body weight exercises be done daily? since many are fans of the freestyle method for lower body, can one do a series of pull ups (assisted for me) and pushups daily?

I don't see why not....they sure made us work out every day in boot camp (the Navy kind, not Cathe! :p) and I got in great shape.

From what I understand, you only need 48 hours rest in between when you are working your muscles to failure, and tearing the fibers. I don't think endurance or bodyweight exercise do that, at least not to that level.

Otherwise, construction workers would be dropping like flies....they "work out" everyday, right? ;)

thanks for the response. i thought the same thing too (about workers doing manual labor daily) I think i may do some daily cardio and follow it with lunges or squats, pushups, pullups and abs. I would just use my bodyweight. Do you think i should do as many reps as i can till failure or should i do like 3 sets of a certrain amount of reps?

A body weight workout routine can help you stay fit and stay on a budget. Here's a workout routine you can do any time with no equipment. Perfect for traveling, home workouts or adding a bit of variety to your regular exercise routine.

I think you can do them, but I'm not sure it's the most effective way to build muscle. I think it depends how intense they are. For instance, if you are doing 3 sets of 100 slow push ups on your toes, your chest, shoulders and abs are really gonna feel it and you will need to rest those muscles. If you're doing 100 squats with no weight, probably not an issue.
