Body Max vs. SJP

Are Body Max and SJP anything alike? I want to do Cathe's June rotation, but don't own Body Max.

Thanks,

Katie

No, Body Max and SJP are pretty different.

Body max is comprised of a traditional (sweatfest) steady-state step section, then a power step-leg-circuit (uber sweatfest) section; then a complete traditional upper body routine and abs.

SJP contains a traditional step segment, then a hi/lo and circuit segment.

You MIGHT be able to contort SJP into a faux Body max by doing the following:

Perform the warm-up and step-section as produced;
Perform the hi/lo circuit segment doing the cardio hi/lo and ONLY lower body circuits (no longer than one-minute circuits; you may have to improvise and make handy use of your pause and chapter-skip features on your remote);
Then find a 1/2-hour total upper body and core workout you like (Pyramid Upper Body premix {Pyramid up, or Pyramid down}).

I do suggest, however, putting the Power Hour / MIS / Body Max DVD on your Gotta-Buy list.

Thanks A-Jock. I know I have to get that DVD. There are just so many that I still want and I have to kind of spread out my purchases. That is definitely one of the next on my list though.

Thanks again!

Katie,

If you want a very close approximation of BM, and you have the CTX series, do either All-Step or Step&Intervals, followed immediately by PowerCircuit. Then do a half-hour upper body and abs premix of some sort (Muscle Endurance would work very well).

Body Max is one of those rare workouts that has a bit of everything thrown in: intense cardio, interval blasts, thorough weight work. SJP has all of those elements, but isn't *quite* as intense. You could certainly sub SJP for BM if you'd like, but I suggest that if you have the time, you tack on Push/Pull (as produced, not a premix) afterwards, to really give the muscles a thorough workout. I used to do SJP and PP together, in the era Before Baby, when I had more time to workout, and they complement each other very, very well.

HTH,
Sandra

You might also do one of the premixes on SJP. I believe one of them is step and weights (or cardio and weights). That would at least get the order similar to Body Max - step first then weights and no hi/lo.
