Blog: Windshield Wipers? Huh?

Is this an exercise or are they trying to scare us because we're going to sweat way too much? LOL! I just can't stop laughing at the Windshield Wipers comment though.

Rose11,

Did I miss something? What was the comment? I'm ready for a laugh.

why do I picture this as a finale move to a broadway number?? ;)

"Windshield Wipers" is listed in the breakdown of Butts and Guts. I too was wondering what this exercise is but I do know that it's gonna burn}(

Okay, I'm betting it's something like lying on your back and lowering your legs side-to-side, like that move in Coremax 2 with the stability ball.

Rose,

I see it, sorry I didn't understand.

Yes that's it. Thanks Wendy.

I find it funny the way they listed Windshield Wipers followed by "..." and then even more exercises. I don't know if this is an exercise (if it is I can't imagine how I'd do that) or if it was some comment regarding how much are we going to sweat. Regardless, it seems Cathe is working really hard and I'm so glad I didn't cancel my preorder (I've been waiting for these puppies since last year). We'll know what windshield wipers are soon... :7

I did CM2 today and I think you might be right. Although the wipers of my car don't move as slow and I can't imagine Cathe making us do this move in single counts instead of 4 down 4 up; just thinking about it hurts my core...or should I say my gut? :)

The "windshield wiper" moves must be some kind of back and forth movement of the legs (while lying on the back), as someone suggested...maybe flinging sweat around the room!

In pilates there's a windshield wipers move. It's hard to describe without listing out directions, so here goes:

1. lie on your back - pull knees into chest w/head lifted and arms extended
2. stretch one leg up toward the ceiling and grab your ankle with both hands while your other leg is straight out, but hovering above the floor.
3. keeping your torso glued to the floor and your navel pulled in towards your spine, pull the raised leg towards you with a double bounce - then switch legs - they scissor past each other like windshield wipers :)
4. grab your other ankle and repeat (usually 10 sets)

It's a fun move and really not that bad - but it depends on what else you're before and after!

I've done that move before, but I didn't know it was called windshield wipers. I think Cathe's version is going to be harder than this move though. (I think I'm scared  :p )

Does anyone know what they really are? Ummmm
