blew it

Having just gotten back from an overseas trip, my days and nights are a little turned around and my appetite is out of control. I had a major binge day of m&m's (nearly a whole bag), other chocolates and trail mix between healthy salads. I did manage to workout, but I feel like such a slug for the excess chocolate and salt. I normally wouldn't have so much chocolate around, but people have given it to me for going away presents. Now if I could just get the will to throw out the rest of it.

Just a rant--looking for pity I guess or someone to sock it to me and tell me to get with the program. I can actually feel the roll of fat around my mid-section expanding as I type, which is a pity because I was certain that in the right light and with some shoe polish I could see the immergence of a six pack!

Keli

PS -- I am going to throw out the rest of the bad stuff now (gulp).

Hey Keli,

Don't be so hard on yourself. You have had the stress of traveling, getting your routine out of whack, etc. I would get rid of the rest of it if it's too much of a temptation (it would be to me - I've done what you've just done many times before). Start fresh today. You will be feeling like yourself in no time with a few days of eating clean and lots of water.

Hi Keli! Its okay, one day at a time. I have done what you did plenty of times. Dont worry, your waist won't expand in one day ;) start over, and try your best! If you still want some chocolate, have a piece or two then lock the rest away. You can do it!! :)

Hi Keli.

Today is a brand new day. Yesterday is the past. So dump the rest of and focus on today. And if you get the urge to eat some, just wait a few minutes and it will pass.
Don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up and move forward. I have been there many times too.
And keep sharing. Once we share something, it loses some of its power over us.:7 Glad your back from your trip.

I ditto all the great advice. Drink lots of water, eat clean, work out hard today and don't beat yourself up!! Today is a great new day.

Keli give yourself a pat on the back for working out. It's really hard to resist that other food group called chocolate and even harder to throw it out. A few weeks ago I received a goodbye present of a box of really good chocolates. I started eating quite a few (way more than a few) and I knew I had to get rid of them, so i took a bite out of all the remaining chocolates and threw them down the disposal. I felt like I was 8 yrs. old , i was laughing my head off.

Lighten up! We are all human and we all give in to temptation. Let's keep this in perspective. Did you go out and commit murder? Rob a bank?
I didn't think so...
This too will pass, and you know what? We will probably do the same thing again sometime, but life still goes on. Just go from here to do your best to forget what is now past history and make today better. That's all we can do..we are human, after all.

I hope you have a great day!:D

Really, don't be so hard on yourself.

When I do stuff like that I feel so crappy that I talk myself out of working out. At least you worked out and ate healthy salads in between the chocolate.

Just toss 'em and this whole thing will be in the past!

Keli, a bad day or even a few, can be turned around very quickly but you have to turn it around, girl! Do not get mad, get control! Plan a week of balanced meals and make adjustments here and there and you can undo anything you've done. A mere 10 extra calories per day will put on a pound in a year and that's how people get fatter as they get older but it's usually not a mere 10 calories and they usually get less and less active to boot. Not you, girlfriend! Adjust and get on with it! Thanks to Shelley, I haven't had chocolate in my house in ages and I don't even care. Clean that junk out and eat clean and it will level out, I promise. :)

You have gotten so much great advice here already! I think that throwing out the junk is a great idea. Throw out the guilt along with it!

One day will not make or break you! You still worked out and ate some healthy stuff. Feel good about doing that even though you are a little messed up with traveling!

Here's to a brand new day!

You guys are so smart! Thanks for the good advice. You motivated me so much that I threw out the Oreos and went for a nice long morning jog.

Reflection approaching...

I sometimes lose perspective that it's only one day, perhaps out of fear that the one day will turn into a week, a month or a year and then before you know it I'll be wondering what happened? I don't feel like I'm being hard on myself as much as I fear losing control (picture a snarling dog hoarding food)and eating crazy all the time. Still a binge is a binge, and chocolate won't kill me, and let's face it, life would be pretty dull without it.

Thanks again!

Oh and to the woman who took a bite out of every chocolate before tossing them...my hat is off to you! I got a good giggle out of that one and a great visual in my mind.

My Weight Watchers leader once told our group, "If you drop one egg on the floor, would you throw away the whole carton?" Of course not! One binge day does not just undo all the good days in between. The past is the past, own the behavior and move on!
