Black tie dress-follow-up

For those who asked, I finally shopped for the dress I said I needed for a black tie event, where my DH will be wearing a tuxedo. I fell in love with this:

but I bought a long strapless gown instead, also Nicole Miller, which looks something like this but in an eggplant color:

I still want to go back and get the black one! All the dresses were 40% off and I had a gift certificate to boot.

I say get it. It was made in the United states and you are putting people to work. Go out and help the economy.

Hey Nancy:

love that strapless gown, so elegant. Have fun wearing it! I am sure you will look gorgeous in it: please come back an dpost a photo here of you at the do wearing it, yes?

Nancy, I am so with you on that first dress! I love form fitting, stretchy clothing like that... so very flattering! I have several dresses made by BCBGMaxAzria that fit like that and are made of that stretchy, form fitting material.

You'll look fabulous in whatever you wear!

I love them both Nancy. :D You are going to be gorgeous in both dresses.
I absolutely adore Nicole Miller! The fabric of her dresses are always so rich and elegant.

Those dresses are both smokin' hot. Definitely buy both - it is too hard to find a good one every time you need one! Best to stockpile, just in case ;).

Thanks all! I've noticed something interesting: real women look better in dresses than the models in the pictures. I'm curvier than the model in the second pic, and "fill out" the dress better than she does. I know that sounds conceited, but it's true, and not just for me. I remember when Beavs showed us a pic of a model in a dress and I thought it was a nice dress, but then Beavs posted a pic of herself wearing the dress, and it was smokin' hot. I think it's time fashion designers woke up and started using models who aren't just stick figures. Their bodies don't show the dresses at their best advantage.

They're beautiful Nancy! Didn't I pick that gown?;) You will look stunning in both!

Yes, Klaudia, I think you did!! :D

Here's what I can't figure out: the website says the dress is $440. The dress they're holding for me (it was a "pre-sale") was $520 and it only came in red and purple. Yet they look the same. I'm confused.

Me too, Cynthia. I love the s-t-r-e-t-c-h aspect. Every dress fits like a glove, yet you could work out in it if you wanted to. So comfy.

You know you're right! And at 40% off, how can I go wrong? I think I'd better order the other one too.

Nancy, your taste is impeccable. All I know is when I have an event to dress for...I am certainly going to ask you for help.
