Black Friday

So, anyone that's shopping - what are the best deals or the items you have to get that day? I have nothing in particular, but will go to enjoy the craziness, etc and won't get upset as I'm not looking for something in particular, just fun.

What's on your lists?

The Xmas tree farm is the only place I'll be going

"honey??" poke, poke, nudge "wake UP!!!!, someone is going to steal my tree!!!"

At which point he tells me its 6am, the tree farm has plenty, and no one is going to steal "my" tree. And then rolls over and snores for another 2 hours, while I try to keep him from going back to sleep. Oh, how I lovelovelove Xmas tree day. Then we decorate and go for dinner.

I try desperately hard not to go to any retail stores on Black Friday. Yikes! I'm pretty much done w/ shopping anyway. I need to get gift cards for nephews/niece, but that needs to wait til next payday, and stocking stuffers for DH, which will prob wait til the payday after that. We finished DS last Fri, and I finished DH last Saturday. YAY!!

I stay inside with the blinds drawn and the doors locked on Black Friday. :p Kidding! But it's not for me. Not a shopper, and I loathe crowds.

I will stay as far away as possible from malls. I am even thinking if I should keep an eye doctor appointment for that day as it is right next to the mall. Definitely not for me. No deal can get me in there.

This year,

the kids want to hit the stores and experience the crazyness of that day. While I have everyone at the stores, I will have them try on shoes/clothes because they still need a few items.

I HATE BLACK FRIDAY! I have never been, and never will be, a Black (or Bloody) Friday shopper. DH and I try to get all of our shopping done before Thanksgiving so that we can avoid the crowds altogether. I hate shopping anyways, though. ;) The only thing that I have on my list is a weighted vest. There really is nothing that I want. DD wants an Ipod, and we already got that, DS wants a Gameboy and some games - check, and DS#2 wants Transformers so really that is all we need to get. We haven't done any shopping for our families yet, but I think that we will get some new board games for my family. I have no idea what to get for DH's family. I thought abuot coal, but I don't think that will go over well. :p

i will be in hiding LOL. i have shopped hobby shops and newegg.com for anything electronics i need(and got the best deals) so i am pretty much done building a computer for dh's little bro and finding Wii games for viola. otherwise i never find anything that is really worth me fighting all that. we did it one year and that was the end of that crap LOL. just really seems many are pushing electronics and expensive toys anyway so to us its just not worth it.

BUT i just heard that steve and barry stores are now closing ALL stores(it was a select few before) and for $60 we really cleaned up so if they are open on friday, i heard that this may be many stores last weekend. i would think its worth to check them out!! our store had everything $3 for 2 for $5. with what they had left its still worth a look for the fashionable teen in the home(okay and adults too LOL)

I shop after the crowd because they tend to have stuff still on sale. The way the economy is going some places will have great sales a week before Christmas. Circuit City may be closing so I'll check there for the TV I want.

The thing that I hate about black Friday is the bait-and-switch. The stores only put out about 10 or 12 items (like computers, TVs) so by the time you get to the electronic section all of it is gone. The sales person will tell you to wait around so that they will pull out more stuff. So while you are waiting... you start shopping for other stuff. If you don't feel like waiting then you buy a more expensive TV.

To me it is not worth the stress.

I just like going out that day. I'm not sure why, but I do. I don't have any deals that I HAVE to get, but there are a few smaller things on my list that I'd LIKE to find a deal on.

We also get our Christmas Tree that day, and that takes top priority for us!

Have fun everybody!

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one who stays in on Black Friday. I hate shopping-gives me an anxiety attack just thinking about it. Thank goodness the only people we're buying for this year are our kids! And I may get something for my parents who are indispensible to us-taking the kids, coming over at a moment's notice, etc. The in-laws? I'm with Missy on that one;)

Ditto!

To me, the day after Thanksgiving is a day to avoid malls and stores at all costs! (I might do some online shopping at Earth Creations, because they have a sale on their organic clothing).

I'll probably go to the shelter to visit the cats in the morning, then spend the afternoon in the office, finalizing a book review to send off, and preparing classes for Monday, as well as doing some arranging of the mess I usually have (so I can have my weekend truly 'off').

I wouldn't go shopping if they were GIVING stuff away!

That doesn't keep me from online stores though. CNN said this a.m. that merchants will be offering bargain basement prices right away instead of waiting until after Xmas. Cha-ching!

not going this year

I won't be going this year. With the economy as bad as it is we have decided to forgo gifts for most everyone in the family and they with us. We only need to get things for our two teens. I have already bought some and I can get itune cards any day. I hope you all have fun. I wish I could just go look, but I don't have that kind of will power.

We don't do gifts at Christmas, so I never feel the desire/need to go shopping after Thanksgiving or any other time during the year for that matter :p But put me in the grocery store!!!! I love to shop for food :D

ITA, LauraMax! I do all my shopping on line and have gotten lots of goodies, from free shipping to free gift wrap (and that was from Neiman Marcus' website last year, for a candle!) I will be on-line tomorrow whenever DD is napping or as soon as she goes to bed to score some good deals. And I'll be shopping in my jammies early in the morning on Friday before DD rises for the day!!

Me too!! DH and I have a few things on our list that we want to get that day, but mostly we just go for the excitement and fun. We also reeeaaalllllyyy love day-after-christmas shopping!

I just don't get what anybody NEEDS at Kohl's at 4am.
For that matter, what the heck does anyone NEED at 4am (except medicine) that would be important enough to go out for???

I will be at home, away from the crazy crowds and lines and traffic. :D:D

I may spend the day figuring out my shopping lists because right now I have no clue. I usually don't go shopping on Black Friday. I will swim, have physical therapy scheduled, need to pick up tickets for my family for the concert I am singing in, may see if DD wants to go see Twilight, stuff like that.
