Does anyone take Biotin in addition to a multi? Are there any "side effects" from supplementing with this? It's in my multi (300mcg I think) but I want a little more. Thanks.
I take 5 mg of Biotin alongside my multi-vitamin. The side effects are wickedly fast-growing nails...ha! Honestly, I supplement for the benefits of skin and protein synthesis.
I've been taking biotin for about 5 years for healthier, faster growing hair. Much more than 5 mg--I think 100 mg at the least. It's def. worked--my hair grows 1+ inch a month & I haven't had any side effects.
My preference is Phytophanere vitamins, which I buy online (I think Sephora carries it too). It has biotin but it also has a nice coctail of other vitamins for hair & nail growth. But it's very expensive (although one bottle lasts for about 6 months).
So when the bank account isn't as healthy as I'd like it to be, I just buy pure biotin from the CVS.
I take Biotin, in addition to a mega multi, an E supplement and a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement. I can't remember the quantities right now. I get them all at GNC. I think it's working for my hair. My nails grow so fast I'm sure you could photograph it!
It's really hard to track the effectiveness of this stuff b/c you really have to wait for "new" hair to grow out, know what I mean? Biotin & other hair growth vitamins can't help the hair you already have, which is essentially dead.
I've mostly taken Phytophanere, I'm on my first bottle of pure biotin. But my hair does grow insanely fast. I just got my first professional color done exactly a month ago, & I have more than an inch of gray showing.
