Bikini Countdown 4/23

Good morning everyone~

My sitter is here so I'm about to run out and get some coffee and a pedicure (my splurge!) but thought I'd check in first.

I ended up doing another HIIT yesterday to see if my heart monitor worked. I obviously need to set it to my own heart rate instead of what it "thinks" my rate is according to my age. After going halfway through the interval it would say I hit my 85% and would go up to 93% by the time I was done- that can't be right! I was trying to make it go higher to see what would happen (something would blow up I assume?) Today will be weights of some sort- haven't figured out what though.

Elizabeth, the HIIT has been really good- even though its just been a few weeks I feel like its having a great impact. I took a few pictures to document my progress but I'm not brave enough to post them - yikes.

Hope all is well with all of you out there. Anyone around this weekend? I'll be here so I'll check in every now and then.

Tall skim, sugar-free latte, anyone?

Brenda :)

Good morning Brenda,
I'm a little tired this morning. I went out with some friends last night and stayed out way too late (for me) had tons of fun and lots of laughs. I plan on doing PP this afternoon. But your tall latte sounds wonderful right now!
When you do HIIT, is that, IMAX without the step portion or is IMAX considered HIIT? HIIT is not circuit training like boot camp or what high step circuit may be, or is it?
I usually don’t check in on the weekends, so have a good one!

Good Morning everyone,

This morning was tough. My legs were feeling heavy when I woke up this morning and I wanted to do Power Hour today (I'm putting in an endurance week before going back to Slow and Heavy next week). The upper body stuff went fine but boy, the lower body was hurting. The squats I got through but when it came time for all the lunges I had to take a bit of an extended break between the barbell and dumbell lunges. By the end my legs were on fire x( !

This weekend I'll be in town working on a paper (boo hiss!). It only needs to be six pages long so it's no biggie and I'm still not that enthused about it. It'll be nice to be at home and relaxing though.

Brenda- I'm jealous of the latte and pedicure and just might need to slip out and do the exact same thing myself.

Joy- Glad to see that you're still checking in from time to time. I miss chatting with you, especially about our mutual affection for Christi. Did you get the Terrific Trio DVD?

Susan- Nice to have you with us and to meet you. Hope you get some more energy for your workout later on. Sounds like the late night was worth it;-) .

Time to run!

Good afternoon!

Brenda, wow, I think I need a pedicure and a latte, or something like that. It's nice that you can do that. Also, we'd love to see your pictures, especially since you feel like it's having such an impact. I've read your posts about HIIT, of course, but haven't absorbed what it really means in terms of how I would use it. Your pictures could be very motivating to learn more.

Sabine, I like Christi also. I haven't yet ordered the Terrific Trio, because I have then on VHS. I've wondered whether it would be worth it anyway. If you have it, what do you think?

Joy, I saw the Rodney Yee PY Total Body DVD at BJs yesterday and picked it up, based on your recommendation. I had been thinking about it before, but between what you said and the price, I couldn't pass it up.

I did Janis Saffell's Kickbox Strike Zone this morning, along with Power Hour abs. I need to do some upper body weight work (I'm missing it), but I'll be gone to Ocean City, MD this weekend. Maybe I'll have some time on Sunday.

I hope you all have a great day and weekend.

Susan, BootCamp would be considered high-intensity interval training but there is usually not so much of a break in between the cardio. I try to keep the cardio very high (apparently 93% haha), slow down for a short breather and then do it again. If I can't get outside to run hills I'll take one segment from Cathe- I've been using Imax1 where she just jumps for an interval. I'll do this until I can't do it any more (7-8 times) and then I may add her plyo jump interval 2-3 xs. The workout only takes about 20-25 minutes depending on how much I cool down in between sets. No step is needed but I use it to do the section of pre-interval step before the blast. Does this make sense? (IOW, its jumping, jumping, jumping- rest- repeat)

The latte was great but my toenails came out gray instead of light lavender so my toes look like they belong to a corpse. Very attractive.

Hope you all have a great weekend planned! I'll check in later- lots of games/practices that will keep us busy.

Brenda, what a nice morning! Hmmmm....I've copied you on the HIIT, so perhaps I'll have to copy you on the pedicure/mocha morning, too! I really think HIIT is doing it's thing: a previously tight pair of jeans fit perfectly fresh out of the dryer (an important qualifier!). A cleaner diet has helped too, I'm sure. Today is LL with HIIT (probably the tough IMAX and IMAX 2 intervals).

Elizabeth, I went back to read the rest of yesterday's posts and started laughing again over that movie! Thanks for the well-wishes. My tummy is a little gurgly but not painful so that's a plus. I probably should avoid coffee, but I won't!:)

Hi to Susan. Sounds like a fun night!

Joy, what are your favorite yoga tapes/DVDs in varying intensity levels? I only have a few and I'd like to expand my library.

Good morning to everyone else. Have a great TGIF...I'll check in later.

CinDee

p.s. is anyone going to watch Iron Chef America. I admit I love that show!

Good afternoon to everyone!
TGIF!!! I just got back from lunch with my boss for secretaries day (2 days late :) ). We got flowers yesterday. My actual lunch wasnt' that bad - half turkey breast sandwich and a salad, but then we decided we needed dessert and I had this chocolate cake fudgy thing that was SOOOOOOOOO good and now I am 7 ww points in the hole and I haven't even ate dinner yet. Oh well, I figure I don't eat like that all the time so I was due to have a goodie. I don't have anything planned for exercise tonight because there is no class at the gym and I'm thinking of doing one of my Cathe's but I have to exercise upstairs and when I'm jumping around I always feel like I'm shaking the whole room plus I don't have alot of room. I'm frustrated about what to do. If I can get my butt in gear and change when I get home I might go to the gym and just use the treadmills and machines - I guess that is better than nothing huh? I'll be going to either step class or body bar class tommorrow. My muscles are really tires so it might be step. Well I gotta go - I don't really check in much on the weekend so probably be back on Monday.
Everyone have a great day and weekend.

Hi All;
Well It's now saturday morning & I have a bit of uninterrupted time here .

I decided to take Thur& Fri off due to ...1) I was to tired to workout on Thursday and 2) my daughter's kindergarten class had a field trip yesterday that I was chaparoning some lil ones around...didn't get home til early afternoon but I was so parched and tired it was about 86° yesterday and as it is it's looks to be another hot one today as it's already 77° today ...it's not even noon yet.

Hope everyone is doing wellI think today I'm going to use my treadmill and do a HITT run.
