Bikini Body Check in 3/8

HI Ladies,
Can you beleive its still SNOWING;( ;( :( We got another 28 cm of snow, on top what we already have! I can't see across the street, the snow is to high.It is crazy. If our digital camera wasn't broke I would take some pitcures and e-mail them to you guys.I really do hate winter!
Anyway,it seemed to be pretty quite around here this weekend.I was pretty bored yesterday so I checked the site alot.
I was having this weird dream last night and it was one of those dreams where everything was going wrong. Then when I get up,I waste coffee granules all over the floor and then oatmeal.Just then DH goes to get in the shower,he turns the shower on and just leaves the bathroom. The shower head was pointed straight out and when I went upstairs there was water all over the floor! You want to know how I discovered that? Well, there was water pouring down through the light fixture above the bathroom.HMMMMMM........makes me wonder, who in Gods name built this house? I think my dream was a sign for me to stay in bed today b/c so far,the last hour as been stressful.
I did PUB yesterday and a short run.My upper body is VERY sore! Chest really. I went for a long run on Saturday, it was 18 kms, 90 min run and my legs are sore from that as well.
I am not sure what I will be doing today.I am leaning towards Imax2 and running.
Does anyone else find the ab work in PUB torture? Its not the ab part but my upper body is so weak from working out that my arms get tired.I even have trouble with the pikes only b/c my arms don't want to keep me up any longer. And then sitting on that ball with a 8 lbs weight after doing biceps! What was she thinking?
How was everyone elses weekend? Back to work for me tomorrow.I think I have to work this comming saturday as well, which I am not looking forward to!
Anyway,I will check back later,
Lori:)

Wow Lori my hat is off to you for even thinking about doing Imax2 AND running in the same day.
I find PUB abs to be a challenge too, I even shake sometimes. However, I always get through it. I have to use very focused concentration and believe that I can do every exercise. It appears to be Cathe's most challenging Ab workout of all for me.

I noticed that we both seem to post ecah day our workouts. Perhaps my just coming over to the "bikini body daily check in" would consolidate the daily check-ins. BTW the name is very motivating!

Good morning everyone,
Hello JAFitMama I hope you'll stay here.

I'll be in and out in March - alot of days off work to enjoy spring training here in FL. I cooked my brains at the ballpark yesterday.

I missed my Sunday workout due to lack of sleep (inconsiderate neighbors in ajoining unit partying LOUDLY til 3:30 am) Saturday I did KV's Yoga Stregth and Yoga stretch. This morning my hip ached. I think I may have some of the overtraining thing going. I don't like the thought of scaling back - but maybe it will make it easier to control my out-of-control eating!

So I'll see ya all from time to time and pick up with ya when I can!

Hiya Everyone and stay a bit with us Judy:0

Well this weekend the hubby and I drove everywhere for a specific oriental rug that would match the one in our dining room ...this one is for our entry way finally found a 5x8. My goodness I feel as if I need a rest from shopping this weekend LOL we ended up buying new window treatments and just decorating the house ... it seemed since we purhased our home this past summer we never had enough money for making it look nice so thankfully with the extra $$ from our tax refund my home does not look so sterile like a friend of mind so kindly remarked once when she came to look at the house x(

LOL Anyway with all the walking we did I think I can qualify that as a workout for both Sat & Sun :)

Just finished KPC and I have tons of laundry to do so I'll checkin later on this evening if I get some time.

Lori it soon will be warm enough that we will all be complaining about the heat :p funny eh? I can't stand cold weather period anything below 60 degrees is too cold for me . My perfect temperature would always be in the mid 70's range with a nice warm, gentle breeze :)

See ya all later and have a fantastic day !

Hi everyone...

Hello Judy, welcome to the thread.:) Like Joy said, I hope you'll stay.

Lori, I normally don't do the ab work in PUB after all the weight work for the reason you mentioned. All that weight work already fries your upper body that you barely have strength for those woodchops and pikes. I usually do ab work using segments from Cathe's older workouts, where you do good, old-fashioned floorwork without any equipment. I save the planks, pikes, 8-lb. dumbbell and stability ball for another day when my upper body is not as tired. Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your shower. I hope your day gets better.:)

I'm not sure what I'll be doing today. All I know is this week is leg week, so I'll either be kickboxing or doing floorwork. I'll decide later.

Last night a very dear friend of mine, who is a PT, dropped by for a visit. I hadn't seen him in about five years. We got to talking about how, almost three years ago, I had to go to physical therapy after months of carrying my colic baby around, then we got to talking about my knees. After I told him that my doctor thinks I have overuse injuries in my knees from doing too many squats and lunges too often, my friend just had to look at my knees because he suspected -- immediately, and from years of treating women with knee problems -- that I may have muscular imbalance. He made me sit on the floor, my legs extended, and had me contract my quads so that I drove the back of my knees into the floor. This gave him a good view of my kneecaps. "You do have a little imbalance," is what he said, "right here..." and he pointed at the top inner part of my knees. He explained that from what he's observed about his female patients, especially teenagers, it's the outer part of the quad that is usually stronger in women. This pulls the kneecap a little out of place as we move our bodies. To correct this imbalance, I have to strengthen the inner part of my quads, and a good way to do this is to do wall squats with my feet hip width apart and my toes pointing about 30 degrees outward. I can do also do this with the other exercises my doctor printed out for me. Just that tiny rotation in the way my feet are positioned would help. So can you imagine my relief when I found out the solution to my problem was actually quite simple! I'm still planning on doing floor work for legs for the next two months at least.

Have a good week everyone,
Pinky

IM back........
Glad to see that everyone is on the move today. We are fianlly getting our driveway cleared so I will be heading out this afternoon.Even if it isn't for any real reason.I feel like I have been cooped up forever.
Judy- You can check in with us anytime that you like.I have only been posting here since christmas went by.I find it to be great for motivation and just a great place to share what you did today.
Joy- I hate it when neighbours party but I bet that they hate it even more when we party:7 Our parites are usually summer time and are usually outside. On one side of us,those neighbours come and join us.But on the other side, they usually keep to themseleves. I feel bad for her b/c I NEVER see her.She goes from her house to her car and she is a very big lady. She as to be around 300 lbs (for sure).I don't know if she doesn't come out b/c she is embrassed. She is very friendly though. Who am I kinding....its winter, I never see anyone in the winter monthes:)
Shywolf-Glad to hear you spent some money! I love spending money but I do find that I am getting cheaper by the day.Sometimes that can be a good quality!
Pinky- Friends come in handy, don't they? The thing that you just explained is pretty much the samething that my massage therapist said to be.Its almost like your knee cap is being pulled one way.She gave me some stretches to do and then my Dr gave me a exercise to do.I haven't done the exercises lately b/c I am on my treadmill and my knee doesn't bother me.When I went for a run outside on Saturday,I pushed myself a little further and did 18 kms.By the time I was almost home, my knee was feeling a little funny.Nothing as flared up though.I bet if I tried to run outside again today it would get funny faster.BUT I CAN"T RUN OUTSIDE B/C OF THE SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway,I did 1/2 imax2 and I did 5-6 min runs on the treadmill. The runs were also interval type runs.I went faster every minute and the last minute was a walk to get ready for step again. It took me about an hour and then I did Kari Andersons curl dvd.
I should get going again.
Lori:)

Good morning to everyone and welcome Judy~

Pinky, I had that surgery for that weaknes on my right knee when I was 11 years old and its lasted 25 years so far. My kneecap would a move off to the side like a dislocation and the drs somehow strengthened my inner knee so it would stop. I've also found my knees are better when strengthening my upper knee/quads w/things like traditional ski poses (back against the wall, squat, hold for a minute). The excercises your friend suggested should be great. Hope you begin to see a great improvement!!

I had a weekend like Shywolf- no "real" workout but a lot of moving around and cleaning. Eating wasn't bad so I feel ok today.

Today is Leaner Legs/abs, yes?

Hope everyone has a good day. Lori I can't believe you have snow! We had a beautiful spring-like weekend!:) Finally...

Brenda

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I haven't checked in sooner- I've been feeling pretty tired since last week, helped DH prep for an out-of-town trip and been resting a bit. I think I've upped my intensity and exercise level but I wasn't eating enough to support that. I did TS3 on Sat and my legs were shaking!- that's a first. So I may make today a rest day or do TS1- really wanted to start on ME this week, but I'll see.

Pinky- glad to hear your PT friend gave you some great advice. I had seen a special (Women's Health on Lifetime TV, I think) about that subject and the PT gave a series of exercises for the woman to do, incl the one your friend gave you. Hope you're getting better. Take care!

Lisa- happy to hear you enjoyed your trip. How is your son? Hope he's doing better!

Sabine- keep up the great work on your rotation.

Welcome Judy- I'm new, too.

Hellos to everyone else.

Elizabeth

Good Morning everyone. This is my first time posting on this thread. I was so terrible this weekend I've got to confess to somebody. My husband was out of town from noon on Saturday until 3 pm on Sunday. I'm OK during the day but I have trouble getting to sleep (didn't end up falling asleep until 2:30am - I always think I hear things) so I was fidgety all day and so I ate every hour it seemed. Then on Sunday I made Chicken Salad and apple pie bars - two of my trigger foods. And all I did was eat. UHG!!! So last night I was laying in bed and decided that today was it. I either get it together with the food and exercising to finally lose this last 13 pounds or forget it. ALL OR NOTHING! So far so good. Healthy breakfast and 10am snack and planning on a salad for lunch, not sure about dinner yet. Then I'm off to the health club for step and weights for an hour. I'M MOTIVATED!!!

Hope everyone has a good day.
Kim:) :) :)

Hello again,
Hi Kim, nice to meet you. You are at the RIGHT PLACE!!! We are very good at listening to confessions :D
-joy

It's Monday morning everyone!

REALLY didn't want the week to start. The weekend was just beautiful! I got so much done around the house and then spent the rest of Sunday being very lazy and lounging in the sun. Lorihart, sorry to hear that you have had so much snow! Spring will be here soon enough!

I made it through week one of my tank top arms/beach butt rotation and am thinking to myself 'man, this is actually pretty brutal! I hope I make it all 4 weeks!'. Today was Leaner Legs and all I can say is OH MY GOODNESS!!! I haven't done this one in a while and boy, did I feel it (and I imagine I'll continue to feel it for at least a couple of days). The 3 sets of step ups in a row were just killer. Heck, the whole workout is killer. Boy am I glad this one is done!

Warm welcomes to Judy and Kim. All the ladies are wonderful and great resources for encouragement and support. I think you'll like it here. Check in daily or whenever you can.

Joy- saw you were having terrific weather in Florida. I'm so jealous that you get that and hot ball players to look at as well!

Shywolf- isn't it fun to buy stuff to dress up your house? I did a major 'dressing up' last Spring and wondered why it took me as long as it did to invest in my home. I love how it looks, and I imagine you are digging your new look as well.

Hellos to Elizabeth (great to see you after a few days), Pinky (good to hear that you've received some useful information re: your knees. I have tracking issues as well), Brenda, Tracy (moving goddess, be sure to be good to yourself during this time), Lisa (sounds like good news re: your son, yes?), and Lorisax (who hasn't been around in a bit and I hope to 'see' again soon).

BTW, I got a small bonus at work and ordered the High Step from Fitness Warehouse online (it was on sale, platform + 4 risers + video for $49.95). I'm so excited to get it!!! Now that I have this I feel a huge lemming urge to buy the 3 new DVD's for the step and high step. Has anyone bought these yet?

Welcome Kim....this is a great place to confess. We do it all the time:) Or is that jusr me! A couple of us tried to cut out sugar for a while and we had to "confess" that we weren't doing that well with it. You diffently need motivation when you start something new.
We just got back from driving around town. You would not beleive the snow that is out there. There are cars still in driveways that are totally covered in snow.People can't see out of the front windows either. We also drove out to my in-laws house and all you can see is their front door and the peak of their house. You can't see any windows in the front. The snow banks are about 20-25 feet high and there is one building uptown that is totally covered in snow.DH is gone out to take some pitcures so I can e-mail them to you guys if you want, just give me your e-mail address.
THanks for the encouraging words but I don't think spring is going to be here for a while!
Lori:)

Hello all!

Well, I did do the Stott Advanced Pilates yesterday, and felt better afterwards. I'm still coughing a lot though, it's very annoying. This morning I did...you guessed, more Pilates. I did the Pilates on the Ball tape. It was different. I have to go out of town again this week. Thursday I'll be in Philadelphia, and Friday in NYC, again for work, but after that I should be home for a while. So, maybe I'll do Pilates the rest of this week, and start into the Timesavers, or something else relatively light, on Sunday. I do think I want to keep Pilates in my rotation for a while though.

Judy and Kim, welcome! I'm fairly new around here also.

Pinky, thank you also for the compliment, and I'm glad Andrew likes the crab. I have something funky with my left kneecap, although it's never seemed to give me trouble while exercising. I was hit by a pickup while crossing a street on the way to class in college (we both had an obstructed view). I landed on my knee, and the kneecap was pushed up. The only real problem I have is that the tendon underneath is exposed, and it's quite painful if I bump into something at just the right place. I hope though, that the suggestions that your friend gave you will help.

Elizabeth and Sabine, thank you for asking about Michael. I'm waiting to hear from the doctor's office to set up an appointment with an ENT. Hopefully, he/she will be able to figure out what to do in a way that Michael doesn't have to go through too much. I can't remember if I said over the weekend that the ct scan showed he has a deviated septum. If that has to be corrected, it will be another tough time for the little guy. Also Sabine, I got the high step for Christmas. I'm so glad I did! And, I preordered all three new workouts, and I'm thrilled so far with the details. I could use that beg/int workout now, for getting back into the groove.

Hellos to Lorihart, Shywolf, Tracy, Brenda, Lorisax, Joy, and anyone else I missed!

Hello to all.
I just haven't had time to read posts, etc, but I wanted to touch base and let you know I'm still with you all. Did Leaner Legs today - I must have been crazy when I said last week that I was looking forward to working my legs!
Tomorrow is step, so I may be brave and try Step Blast for the first time. We'll see! I'll try and check back in and see how everyone is doing. It's great to "see" so many new people,

Tracy

Welcome Kim- we all confess here so feel free! I've had that happen many times where I start eating one thing (chocolate chip cookies, anything chocolate) and before I know it I'm wondering into the kitchen over and over again until I've sabotaged myself. My confession today: day 3 I haven't worked out!! I ended up running errands all day. I may be able to do something before bed but right now things are hectic here...

Eating has been ok and I'm having that moment when your clothes are looser and we ask ourselves why doesn't this happen when we're working out consistantly?

Lisa, hope Michael's ENT visit goes well. Its such a helpless thing to see when we have to take our little ones to places where there are big machines and more poking and proding. So scary and hard to explain. Let us know what's happening. By the way, Tracy, glad your daughter's cast is off!

See everyone tomorrow~
