HI Everyone,
Is anyone awake yet?????? The last 3 nights have been really good sleeps for me.I haven't went to bed real early on either night but I haven't woke up a million times. And I think that makes a big difference.
I did PUB yesterday and a 40 min run.I don't think that there is a muscle in my upper body that isn't sore.PUB is a hard workout. Its not torture when you are doing it but the next day you can really feel it.
I started following the BFL yesterday and I had an unbelivable amount of energy.Maybe it was the good sleeps, or it may have been the healthier eating.Prehaps junk bring me down.I wasn't tired yesterday until last night and I normally get lazy a couple of times through out the day.
Anyway.I should go and check out the rest of the forum and then I am going for a run.
Have a good one,
Lori:)

Good Day Bikini posters: Lori, Brenda, Pinky, Lisa, Shywolf, Kim, CID,Elizabeth, Joy & any one else I may have forgotten or who is joining us!

I missed posting yesterday, but did complete a short workout:
BC cardio/lower body working very intensley, planks from S&H, and then 17" of yoga from living arts. It was about 50" total.

Today is upper body, short(30") cardio & abs if I have time.

The HIIT looks interesting; anything that achieves goals in short times periods is tempting. Working super hard in less time also leaves more time for a thorough stretch.

Next week my kids are on spring break, so I'll be doing the college visit trip with my son. We'll start in Boston and visit with my daughter who is already attending colege there. I'm not sure wht workouts will be. They'll be limited to outdoor walks or exercise rooms at the hotel.

Good morning everyone,
Yep Lori, I was awake, but not at work yet. HOWEVER, I haven't yet adjusted to dst, so i'm getting up late and feeling run over for the first 30-45 minutes of the day.

I seem to only be interested in Yoga. My weights, step and cardio are being neglected. HOWEVER, maybe this is just what my body & mind need right now. The stress was really doing me in.

Lisa, to answer about my yoga acquisitions, I too got Power Yoga for Happiness. I also went ahead and got his Power Yoga DVD - but I confess I haven't opened it yet. Also, I got Yee's Power Yoga for Total Body (I think it is called - love it) and Yee's Power yoga for Strength/Flexibitity DVD (2 workouts about 25" long). I also got Crunch Joy of Yoga (two workout DVD) and KV Yoga Sculpt KV Yoga Focus. Then I spotted Yoga Minda & Body (Ali McGraw and Erich Schiffman) on DVD for 9.99 and grabbed it. Believe it or not I have the vhs, but I so prefer dvd that I bought it anyway. I would love to try Rainbeau Mars and some other Schiffman's but that will wait.

Briefly (rolls eyes) on the HIIT. I tried a type of that with running, it was called guerillas. It d@m^ near killed me. That stuff is TOUGH. But I do believe it is HIGHLY effective. I may give that some thought when my leg is feeling ALL ALL better, especially since I have been doing a little bit of running and my time limit for knee comfort seems to be 20" no matter how fast or slow I go.

It is really nice to see this check-in thriving. I LOVE reading about everyone's lives - oh and workouts too :7

Good morning everyone~

Joy, I'm feeling the same way about DST- I hear the crying at 6:30am and I'm lying in bed saying "you've got to be kidding!" Listen to your body (I hate that phrase) but if yoga feels really good now, I'd stick with it.

Yesterday I did PUB along w/my run and feel pretty good today. I read how important it is to rest the parts you worked for 48 hrs at least so they can "rebuild"- I wasn't giving it enough time before so that may change some of my workouts as well. What is today? I may do MIC and PLB if time permits.

Judy, its not the driving that worries me about teens, its the college thing! I can't even stomach the idea of visiting schools, interviewing, the letters coming in the mail, etc. It feels like I just went through it, ugh. Good luck- actually working out in hotel gyms may be a pretty cool change for a short time!

Hellos to Lori, Sabine, Shywolf, Tracy, Lisa, Elizabeth, Kim and, of course, Pinky.

Check in later-
Brenda

Hey to everyone. PLB yesterday and my legs are feeling every step! Today will be CTX UB Split with some cardio...probably 30" of intervals.

Brenda--how are you incorporating HIIT? My spinning DVDs have some sets in them that are akin to HIIT (and I'm dying at the end!). Thanks for the web sites...very interesting. I may give it a try on the treadmill at the Y next week. People drive too fast on our road so no jogging there! Do you think Cathe could be used, i.e. IMAX blasts only with 30 sec. pause between each? I get tired just thinking about it...

Joy--what are your yoga faves? I see the cruch one all the time but have never picked it up.

Lori--PUB always gets me the following day or two, too!

Talk to you all later!

Hey All;
Today is a beautiful day and it's calling me outside :)

I did MIC late last night and I slept like a log.

This morning was S&H triceps & biceps. It's funny as how I go really heavy with my weights but I don't get DOMS from using the S&H ..anyone else? I would've thought I would get some serious DOMS but instead I get a very slight feeling ( I don't even want to call it soreness) afterwards. Weird.

Lori when I started BFL I felt the same way ..increased energy and a feeling of well being. Maybe it is the way you need to eat but when I eat junk my body reacts in a very bad way with bad tummy upsets , headaches and fatigue. Reason why I try not to eat junk. My choice of indulging is going out and having a nice juicy steak or sea food. I have so much cookies, donuts, cakes , sodas and candy from the kids and hubby but I don't crave any of it and if I do just having one small bite is good enough. Now let's not even talk about fresh baked bread with honey and butter -- that's my weakness, then I'm in trouble.

Judi I did the HIIT when I was doing BFL on my treadmill and on occasion I'll do it just to stir things up ...for me I need a certain type of music to do it though...very hard alternative or rock .

Joy
It seems to me your mind and body ask for what you need. Don't worry about step or cardio ...it'll come . For now just enjoy what your doing and know your body is moving that's what counts -eh?

Hellos to Brenda,CinDee, Sabine, Tracy, Lisa, Elizabeth, Kim and Pinky who is probably having a blast back home :)
Gosh I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

CinDee- Guess What? This morning I tried a modified HIIT workout this way: I used the IMAX2 DVD & my treadmill and used the interval 1-5 premix.
Her is how I did it:
Warmup- walk 4.0-4.5mph
step segments- light jog 5.5-5.7mph (I'm not a runner so I'm starting SLOW so I don't get discouraged)
interval blasts- run 7.0-7.5mph
cooldown after blast #5 I kept running and kept running a couple minutes into the stretch until I reached 30" on the treadmill.
cool down walk- 4" 4.0mph slowed to 3.4mph followed by
IMAX2 stretch.

** I thought running some of those intervals was harder than doing them as directed. Different muscles were challenged for sure.

Then I did push/pull upper body 2 times through for a total of 40" or so. ( skipped the warm up)

This was agreat workout although it exceeded my usual 60" time slot. Tomorrow I will do Karen Voight yoga sculpt. (Light day) And I hope on Saturday to do a HIIT 30' workout again.

Well, I don't have a treadmill at home, but I could try it spinning. I'll definately try it at the Y next week. Thanks for sharing your workout. You and my buddy are the same in that you do weighted work first and then cardio. My bod just isn't up for weights after cardio so I always lift first. I'll have to try it the other way around one of these days just for kicks...mayble I'll like it better!

Judy- that's an awesome workout! I just got done w/Imax 1 and although its not as much fun as 2, I think it has more difficult segments. Running on the treadmill is a better pace for in between the intensity blasts if you're planning on doing serious HIIT. The heart rate doesn't totally drop back down and running would be a faster transition than the cool down/start up between intensity.

CinDee, the Imax's would be great for this (i.e. ski jump/plyo jump segment) with a 30-45 second break, then start over. Remember, its supposed to be HARD like #9. I'm also going to start running hills and find a track where I can jog the corners/run the straitaways and run hills (up as hard & fast as I can and then walk down - repeat).
Oh, the high school track is coming back to me!x(

Shywolf, I'm never sore after S&H- maybe because there's such a rest/stretch between sets? I used to hate that series but I appreciate it now and enjoy doing it.

I'm going to work on legs now - not sure which one.

Sabine- old workouts that used to be hard? I remember a Tracy Austin tape the was probably 25 minutes that I tried doing after college when I hadn't worked out for years- I thought I'd die!
Any Firm cardio tapes are easy now and the Firm strength- the sets don't seem long enough, do they?

Hi everyone,

I'm checking in late today as Thursdays are my day to be at school early! With DST it was especially difficult today.

Today was Slow and Heavy Triceps and Biceps. It went really well considering how awful yesterday was. The day started out okay and then I developed a wicked migraine around 1 pm. I haven't had one in a couple of years (used to get them fairly regularly) so didn't have any medication. I was soooooooo miserable! Went home and slept. Got up and all my stomach would tolerate was a protein shake and some Corn Bran (and that was shaky for a while). Took about 4 Advil and was in bed just after 9 pm for the duration. And this morning I wake up and all is well. Bizarre!

Brenda- For this week and probably next I am following Cathe's April rotation although I am changed the cardio workouts to suit my needs/tastes. I thought IMAX 2 twice in one week + MIC was crazy! For week three I will be spending some time out of town so will probably have a 'light' week and travel with some Firm workouts to do during that time. Not sure how I'll finish the month out.

Lorihart- I hear you on the PUB comments. This workout totally sneaks up on me too!

Big hellos to everyone!

Hello All!

Been at the eye doc's for part of the day (3 hrs) getting my eyes dilated for possible LASIX surgery next Thurs. I'm typing this w/ one hand and holding my glasses up four inches from my face w/the other so I can see (DH's getting a chuckle watching me do this!:7 ) But I had to get online to check in and see how everyone else is doing. Was told by the surgeon's asst to NOT exercise intensely for 2 wks after the surgery (just walking-yikes!) but my eye doc who had LASIX done told me today I could exercise but modify it bec of occular pressre (eg no deadlifts b/c of the bending over motion w/a heavy wt in hand and no jumping or quick changes of motion.). She's great- she believes that maintaining an exercise routine w/mods will help speed the healing and that stopping exercise cold turkey could have neg effects. I'm going to ask you educated and experienced ladies on how to modify my w/o's- thanks, I appreciate it.

Sounds like everyone had a good w/o day (from what I could read!
;) ). Sabine, hope your migraine leaves qiuckly. Yhe HIIT sounds very interesting- look forward to reading more about it w/ you ladies.

Well, arm's getting tired and so are my eyes. Have a good eve everyone!

Elizabeth
