Good Morning Everyone,
Can you beleive that march is half way through? Where does the time go?
I am feeling much better today.Yesterday afternoon I had some McDonalds fries(noth'in like grease after a night on the town) and I felt better after I posted here. Then we went to the in laws for dinner and I are a fair bit there but still wasn't myself. We went to bed at 11 but I could have slept longer.I think it will be along time before I go drinking again. It was fun while I was doing it...but not so fun yesterday morning~x( And I didn't workout either.Just didn't have the energy.
I am having a B-day party this weekend for my little girl. She will be turning 8 and she wants a slumber party.I had a hard time narrowing it down b/c you can't just invite a couple from her class, its either all or nothing. So,I convinced her to have a sleepover with her cousins and a few friends that she plays with at home.I also told her that if there were only 8 kids we could taking them swimming or sliding. She seems to be happy with that and I think I can handle 8 kids.Did I say I wasn't going to drink for a long time??????????????:7 :7 It should be a little cheaper then past years to.I beleive I paid someone to decorate last year.
Anyway that will be my plans for this week.Getting ready for the party and working.
I am not sure what the workout will be today.I may do lower body and cardio OR BC with running intervals.I have an appt at 11:30 so I need to workout now or later.
Anyhoo....thats it for me.I will check back later...
Lori :)

Good morning girls-

I'm feeling the need for cardio so I think I'm going to do MIC today-yesterday was Body Max and my arms/chest are a little sore!

Lori, that's exactly what we did for my daughter's 8th birthday this year (unfortunately on Dec 22). I couldn't handle doing all the girls in her class like we have previously done and it was really cute! We had 4 of her girl cousins over and I put a tv/vcr in her room and rented Mary Kate & Ashley movies. They had a great time eating popcorn & cake, listening to Hillary Duff and doing each other's make-up all night- I would say it may have been her best birthday so far. I also have my son's birthday on Friday - luckily its just the big 3 so we can get away w/a simple cake. :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm going to put together a killer workout for April/May... any suggestions? Bikinis soon...

Brenda

Hi ladies,

I got to do some yoga last night, half a segment from the Yoga for Athletes DVD. It's a great DVD. You can choose your sport from the main menu then choose which body part you want to work on. Of course I chose back, because that's been feeling tight lately. I wanted to do the whole segment but got bored by the ultra-slow pace. There were a couple of stretches though that got my back feeling better. My spine was feeling really loose when I woke up this morning.

Today I'm going back to PS after doing endurance work last week.

Lori and Brenda, I can relate with the mini-stresses that come with planning a child's birthday party. I say "mini-stresses" because it's also fun... Well, at least I find it fun half the time.:) Last year I had clowns for my son's party with a magic show and a fair theme. This coming August my son wants Buzz Lightyear to show up. I have no idea where I can get one of those.

I might check back later. Have a great day you guys!

Pinky:)

Yuck! Not Monday already!

Had a nice relaxing weekend so was refreshed and energized for PUB this morning. The shoulder segment just about killed me (as usual) and I did make some improvement in the biceps. Usually my arms are ready to burst into flames after the first set back down from the the heaviest weight (for me 12#) set. They were quaking all right, yet I was able to finish the last set with good form. So slowly it seems like my arm muscles are acclaimating to the heavier weight. Who knows, maybe after a couple more months I'll be able to bump up my weight again.

How fun to be involved in planning a child's birthday party. I think if I had children of my own I might live vicariously and plan the parties that I always wanted for myself. Have fun Lorihart and Brenda!

Hello to everyone. I'm off to make a dent in this huge pile of data entry setting in front of my computer.

HI Ladies,
Just finished my workout.I did 6 parts of BC and a 55 min run.It took me about 1 hour and 45 min.I am not sure why b/c 55 min + 40 min doesn't equal that, unless the clock on my treadmill is wrong? Regardless I started at 1:45 and finished at 3:30.
I am not a lover of the B-day parties.Last years party was crazy! I took them bowling, about 30 kids showed up,they were out of control,no parents around...I am pretty much scarred for life.Thats not happening anymore! I told her that next year(which is now) she is just having a little party. I think she is going to enjoy herself to.We have to go to the mall now and get the supplies,I may not have time the rest of the week.
Sabine- I find the biceps the worst in PUB. I use 10's,12's and 15's, Then on the way back down I use 10,s and 8's.Ijust can't life those 12's again after using 15's.The shoulders are hard to b/c I use 5's for the first two segments and then I do 8's for the last one.I rarely use the 3's.
Anyway,I must go get ready.
Lori

Good afternoon, all!

Wow, Lorihart, I can't imagine 30 kids at a party! I'd be scarred too! I just have boys, and so far I've gotten away with small parties (usually no more than 7 children, actually, usually fewer), at Chuckie Cheese, the movies, or more recently, Laser Tag. Hopefully, I can keep it that way!

Saturday night, I did something to my upper back/neck/shoulder on my right side. It was feeling pinched, and was very painful. Around midday yesterday, I tried doing a couple of partial sun salutations. It felt better, so I started out my workout with the 20 minute sun salutation portion of Byron Baptiste's Hot Yoga volume I. Then I did the Stott Pilates flex band workout (I'm actually really feeling that in my hamstrings), and finished with the 15 minute ab section from The Method Target Specifics. Today I got up and did eight or nine basic Pilates exercises on my own, and then did the Legs and Butt sections from another Method workout. It was a combo of yoga, ballet and pilates. Surprisingly, I got pretty sweaty. My shoulder's still bothering, so I think I might try to do the sun salutations again tonight.

I'm starting to itch to get back into weight work, at least for my upper body, and also cardio. I think the cardio's probably going to wait until this weekend, but I'm going to try to do some upper body weight work (maybe Push Pull or Super Sets) in the next couple of days. I'll go light the first time. It will be interesting to see how I do.

Hope everyone's doing well. Talk to you later.

Hey everyone,

I promised Pinky to copy a rotation I had seen incorporating Pilates. It's from a thread on the Ask Cathe forum, "Help, my belly fat is discouring me." It also throws in some yoga. Anyway, I thought that if some of the rest of you hadn't seen it, you might be interested also.

Here it is:

Hi Lisa! Here's my rotation:

This one is for when you have more time:

Sat: Yoga (can be either 30 or 60 min.)
Sun: PS chest/shoulders/tris + abs from ME
Mon: IMAX2 (try to go all out on this put a lot of intensity into
it)
Tues: PS back/biceps/abs from Ab Hits
Wed: PS Legs stop tape at bodybar section & do PLB stability ball
Thurs: Pilates or PH
Fri: Rest

This doesn't have a lot of cardio which is why I stick in IMAX2; go all out w/your intensity. If Pilates or PH doesn't suit you, feel free to stick in another cardio; I feel it should be kickboxing for x-training but that's just me.

Short on time? Then do this one:

Sat: Yoga (30 or 60 min.)
Sun: PUB in its entirety
Mon: PLB in its entirety
Tues: KP&C or IMAX2
Wed: Pilates
Thurs: This can be either cardio or Circuit Max or C&W whatever
you like
Fri: Rest

This rotation also balances it out quite nicely. I usually don't like to workout for more than 1 hr. Also you're getting enough variety to working your abs. HTH, Kathy

Hello Ladies!

Well today is a yucky kind of day...very cloudy and rainy ...yuck!

This morning I did Step Blast....towards the end of the step challenge I have to keep going cause I just can't let that last few minutes beat me. It was a very through and intense workout for me today due to the high humidity we have here, Gods I don't know how I'm going to be able to handle our hot summer months ...I may end up having to get up and workout before 7am ...mercy!

I used to do those big birthday parties for the kids which would end up turning into an adult party in the evening and to be honest it would take a big chunk of our money. What we do now is keeping it small and simple. I get the birthday boy or girls ...(my girls birthdays are six days apart, they each have their special birthday) a nice large 1/4 sheet cake , tons of helium ballons and presents. We usually keep it among ourselves with a special friend or two. The money we would spend on goody bags, food and other stuff the birthday kid here gets a high end present that Santa forgot ;).

They have never complained and look forward to their special day cause what they say goes on that day they are king or queen on that day.

Anyways I need to go eat as I'm starting to feel low on energy. Y'all have a good one today :)

Lisa, thanks for posting this one. It's giving me good ideas on how to put yoga and pilates in the mix. Weekends and middle of the week are good days to put these in.

Well ladies, I got to do PS-C/S/T and PS-B/B/A. After eating so much over the weekend, I had enough fuel in me to work out for two hours today. (I might regret this tomorrow.) I listened to my body and went down a notch on my weights for several exercises, including those BB presses. I went 45 instead of my usual 50, went down to 12's for those side lateral raises and 5's for those cross-body kickbacks for triceps. Surprisingly, I was still able to use a 35-lb. BB for bicep curls and do a set of concentration curls using 10 and another set using 12. I usually use 8's. Go figure.

I looked at myself in my full-length mirror, saw that my shoulders are broad enough, my arms look pretty good, and I wondered what I'm still working so hard for. I should probably be doing only maintenance work at this point.

See you all tomorrow,
Pinky

Good evening everyone. I didn't think I'd be checking in today...I was feeling the stirrings of a cold this afternoon and didn't workout during naptime, so I figured I was out for the day. But this evening after everyone was asleep, I heard Cathe softly calling for me to join her in the basement. I just finished up PUB and surprised myself that I kept my weights for everything, even though I was feeling less than par.
This may sound weird, but do any of you workout in front of a mirror? My kids have a full length mirror in their play room and for the past few weeks when I've done upper body work I grab it and stand in front of it. It's not that I am excessively vain or anything, but I think it really helps me keep an eye on my form. And if I set it at just the right angle, it makes me look about 6 inches taller and 15 lbs. thinner!!

Hope everyone is doing well!
Now I'm going to take a nice long bath and go to sleep.
Tracy
