Biking and Cathe

Cbelle

Cathlete
I just got a new road bike and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how to incorporate it into my Cathe tapes?

I think a 30-60 minute ride, with or without hills would complement a Cathe program. Maybe two or three times a week if you like it.

Cbelle,

It depends on your cycling goals. If it's just part of your fitness mix then I agree with Mogambo. Just use cycling for a cardio workout. If you're planning to tour or do bike events, you would approach it differently.

A bike ride is a great way to get interval work into your week. Leisurely rides are a great way to recover from a tough leg workout.

Next summer I'd like to ride some Century rides but its too late to really do anything this year. I think I'll just do a couple of regular rides for now. thanks guys!

I do not bike regularly as I do not have a bike! But a few weeekends ago I went with some people who have been biking for about 2 months but who don't otherwise exercise intensly on a regular basis.

They all had bikes with gears. I did not. (I prefer the handle bar position of the old fahsioned kind.) We did 40 miles. Everyone kept askig if I was ok. As if without gears they all thought I was working harder. That day my legs felt heavy, but the next day I was not sore, and I did my regular workout.

Lets hear it for Cathe and squats! Enjoy your bike! Jeanne
