Biggest loser trainers on Oprah now

Oprah just said the guys on BL eat 1800 cal. a day, but burn about 6000! I missed what she said about the women.

How are they not just ravenously hungry all of the time??

Let's see, Ali was already on, and she looks amazing!!!

And then another couple, and now Roger, so not too much!

It was an amazing show. The one question I would like to have answered though is did they end up with loose skin? After losing that kind of weight what happens to the saggy skin?

I wondered the same thing. It seems that someone going from really obese to a normal weight in such a short time would not allow their skin to have enough time to adjust.

Also they said females only at 1200 calories a day and males 1800. When Oprah asked the trainers about how is it possible that they keep it off because once they return to normal life they are not going to be working out 6 hours a day anymore. The trainers responded that the difference is they are now in maintenance vs losing. It still seems to me that they would have trouble even maintenance their weight with such a drastic change. I can not imagine only eating 1200 calories a day for the rest of my life and maintaining such a high activity level. I would be hungry all the freaking time!

I enjoyed the show too. 1200 calories is really low and some of them said that they work out 2 hours a day. I would definetly have to eat more.

I was amazed at how much Roger ate 9,000 Calories :eek: in a day vs what he eats now.

I would of loved to hear a bit more from the trainers too.

Yeah, the trainers weren't as involved in the show as I thought they would be. It seemed to be more about the contestants.

I'd imagine they'd HAVE to have surgery to lose the extra skin. HAVE to.

I wanted to hear more from the trainers too. In fact I was overall disappointed in the show. I wanted to hear more details from the everyone on everything. In effort to highlight everyone, they each had very little time to talk. Though, I did appreciate everyone's candor in how hard it was to keep the weight off. I think we can all see how difficult it would to lose weight in such a public forum and have to find a way to keep it off with the whole world watching.

I was hoping for more from the trainers as well. I don't normally watch Oprah but taped it because I started watching Biggest Loser after the marathon was on the reality channel.

I can't imagine working out 5-7 hours a day. PHEW!!

Oh, please!

That's just NUTS!!!! How horribly unrealistic as an example of how to lose weight - who the heck can maintain that? Obviously not many of them do. Maybe Oprah will sign up with Jillian or Bob Harper now since she hasn't had any long-term results with Bob Greene. On second thought, I don't think Jillian or Bob have any tricks up their sleeves to make exercise fun & take the hate factor out of it.

I borrowed TBL book from my library and immediately returned it when I saw the unrealistic diet plan listed. I definitely want to lose weight but I will take slow and steady so it will hopefully stay off.

That being said, I really liked Julie and am glad she has been able to maintain. She looked great!

I watched the Oprah show but never watch Biggest Loser. I have a problem with the chronic exercise/starvation and an even bigger problem with the way the weight (naturally) comes off so fast. There's no way people can go home and maintain what they did to slim down so regain is virtually guaranteed. Another thing that really bothers me is that women don't have testosterone, can't build muscle like men and, since more muscle equals more fat burn the show is inherently biased in favor of the men. The women have to work so much harder to get the big prize. I would love it if the one winning woman had been permitted to go into detail about what she's doing now to keep trim. Yea, I can't stomach(!) The Biggest Loser. So much about that show feels so wrong to me.

As for lose skin, I don't really know anyone personally who went from extremely obese to slender from diet and exercise so I don't know about their lose skin issues. However, I think we all know people who did gastric bypass, the band, or drastic dieting who lost weight FAST and unnaturally who wound up with massive sagging skin issues. I wonder if, maybe, sagging skin is hardly an issue (or no issue at all?) for obese people who get the weight off the right way? If I knew anyone who went from one extreme to the other slowly, from diet and exercise, I could make a judgement. All I know is I went from size 24 to 14 (back to 16 now...), which I know isn't real extreme, and I had no sagging skin and, in fact, was told I "glow" now. A lot of people remarked on the obvious healthiness in my change. I still have a long way to go but I really think HOW you lose weight makes all the difference, though I have no proof.

I watched part of the show yesterday and was disappointed to see that some people had gained their weight back. I mean...disappointment for them. It must be so hard to lose so much and maintain it. I can't imagine struggling my whole life with weight issues.
And....I haven't seen Oprah in a while either:confused: Looks like she as alot of weight back on. Seriously, my heart goes out to her. I guess she will soon lose it again and have ANOTHER show about how she lost her weight.
Alot of them still looked amazing though! Good for them!

Lori:)

I was sad to see some of them put the weight back on. It's easy to loose the weight but the show should really give the people some counselling. I remember on the last season when Jillian brought her mother on to help her team deal with their emotional eating and think that thats half the battle. I haven't watch any of this season but I hope they provide some counselling for those people.
