Biggest Loser- totally disillusioned!!! :-(

I read this article in Time magazine- link below- I knew that the average person did not have 4-6 hours per day to workout but I was totally shocked to see that some of the contestants were using such harmful methods to lose weight. I still think the show is good example to show others that they can lose weight. Now if they could just help them keep it off...

BTW- Jillian is suppose to be coming back next season for three teams- Jillian's, Bob's and Kim's- this should be interesting!}(

Well, I was always wondering how those guys were doing. I guess they are doing the way I expected it.

I mean, it is great to watch, how they drop the weight so fast. It is just not realistic for us "average Janes:)" to work out 4, 5 or 6 hours per day and have our food prepared.

Once they go back into "real life" they start slipping. Shiz, working out 4 hours per day, I don't think so.

I guess I kind of missed it, is the new season already running?

with you on that. it wasn't until i looked it up one day, that i saw how much they were working out, i just didn't agree. i mean i am sure they had pros on hand, i just still didn't think it was the way to teach them, but hey anything for tv. matt and suzy are doing well, they were on dr. keith on day saying they do workout just not as much, but its their diet they are very strict with. well not now for suzy, she is pregnant, but still fabulous both of them. i wish all of them well and hope they find what works for them.

You know, I knew that they were exercising for hours a day, and that this was unrealistic, but I didn't know about the other methods they were employing to lose. I still think that the show has a good basic message though. I think that it is impressive to lose all that weight, but even more impressive to KEEP it off. Laura

I thought that they were working out way too much. Remember when they added two people who lost a lot of weight on their own? They had a hard time adjusting to all the working out. Some contestants even had knee issues.

Much as I like that show, I've always thought that the exercise they do is extreme and impossible to keep up long term. It's still a good show in that it shows that very overweight people can lose weight the old-fashioned way with diet and exercise. I'm a little miffed to see that Jillian is coming back.

Gosh, now I know why they show some of them throwing up. I had no idea what it took to get to that point, never been there, didn't feel like experimenting on myself either. I guess that it would be hours and hours of way too much working out.

I don't care for her style of training - she thinks she came out of Marine Corps boot camp. Screaming rubs me the wrong way, and is a very bad strategy for positive motivation. Just my opinion.

I was listening to a radio show this morning on the way to work. Caroline Rhea was on. They kept introducing her as the "former" host of The Biggest Loser!?! Anyone know about that?

Is this the show that's on VH1? On that show, which honestly, I've never watched completely through, I've seen bits where the judges tell the contestants, at the weigh-in, how much they expect the celebrity to lose for the next week. Some of these judges charge these celebrity contestants with losing 5 and 6 pounds. In one week!

Stupid show.

No, this is the one on abc, or nbc, or something like that. I've only watched reruns on Bravo. The VH1 is Celebrity fit club.

Alison Sweeney,"Sami" from Days of Our Lives is the host this year. I'm really excited about that. She has always had to work hard for her body too, so I'm happy to see her get the gig.
