BFL Wednesday the 7th

Hey Ladies! It's Wednesday, which is our busy day! After the school bus, I'm off to clean my friend's house, then school/work. The kids then have Religion Class after dinner. Not really bad, just one thing after the other. Thank goodness this is the only day of the week like this!

OK....up early again. Although later than I planned for. Upper body today and OUCHIES again. lol DOMS are still lingering in the booty and hamstrings, but I'm NOT complaining! Gotta love PLB, hugh?

Sorry to hit and run. I don't want to start the day off by missing the bus! I'll be back sometime later today!

Hi and Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone got a goodnights rest!:)

I have been up since 4am! This clock change has completely messed me up. My daughter was suppose to take the 6am train this morning but of course she changed that to 7am.
So now I am waiting for my DS to get showered and ready for me to drop him off at school. Thought I might check-in with you all in the meantime.

I made some cookies this morning from the recipe posted the other day. Mmmm! Really a milk and cookie treat! :9
I ended up making them with Swiss Miss sugar free cocoa that had marshmellows in it and also used Choc. Whey protein. These are like a brownie instead of a cookie. But really good and hit that sweet tooth if you have one.

20min iTread easy run to loosen up legs from yesterdays 60min run.

Gayle: iTrain customer service let me upgrade to a year instead of being monthly! Yeah!:7 They even gave me an extra 3 free for this month. Now...what to get? Did you end up using your credits yesterday? If so what did you end up with?
This is well worth every penny for some really great workouts!

Gayle~ Sounds like you have a busy day! That is one thing I hate, is rushing around …
Gotta love those DOMS, huh?  I am debating on doing PLB or- BBC Legs .. Help me choose, please  I am a little afraid of PLB, because this is what made my knee “pop” before. Maybe, I will do it, but just use lighter weights. I always feel if I don’t go as heavy as Cathe, I am not pushing myself, but of course I don’t want to cause more damage.

Feeling some good DOMS today everywhere!
My abs are super sore from Monday’s workout. My thighs/hip flexors are sore from my run yesterday.. and of course my tri’s are screaming still. Wow, sounds like I have major issues 

D3- so far 100%.. YAY!  I am so happy. I had Protein Pancakes for b’fast , w/ a little bit of spray butter/s/f syrup . YUM! :9

Good morning everyone! Thought I better check in as early as I could before I got lost in the chaos of the day. I was swamped at work yesterday and never got a chance to check in!

I decided to give Gym Style Legs a shot yesterday morning, and yowsa! Great workout...LOVED the change of pace. I think I'll stick with that for a while. Then last night I convinced BF to do Bryan Kest's yoga with me. That was fun. However, I did something to hurt myself! I've been having terrible pain in my left hip. I couldn't sleep it was so bad. I finally popped 600mg of ibuprofen at 3:30 a.m. and it seems to have brought me some relief. Needless to say, I didn't get up to workout this morning. I'm not sure if I'm going to take the day off or if I'll do something light when I get home....have to play it by ear. What's worse it that I don't know exactly what I did to get hurt, whether it was during the morning workout or the evening workout. I felt it slightly all day yesterday, and I've felt it in the past too, but it wasn't bad until about an hour or so after the yoga. By that time I could barely move. In other words, I don't know what I need to stay away from to avoid reinjuring myself.

One more complaint, and then I'll shut up. It seems I've gained weight. How does this happen?? I've been doing really well on this BFL thing. And yet, my pants are tight again. Argh.

Heidi, glad to hear you enjoyed the cookies. I have yet to try them.

Gayle, hope your day goes smoothly.

Jennifer, I don't always eat M6. Sometimes I just can't fit it in. Maybe that's my problem? I don't know. Congrats on doing so well!

Hi Jennifer and Jen,

Jennifer: I like PLB but I haven't yet tried BBC legs. I have heard that this is a real killer workout. As for the PLB if your knee bothers you it might be a wise thing to lower your box height as to not put so much pressure on it during the upper movements. Try it out using the lowest position and work your way up to using 4-5 risers. This way you will know what your knee is going to be able to handle.
As for meal 6...I am usually not hungry after dinner but if I am I eat an apple with cottage cheese or yogurt.


Jen: Sorry to hear about your hip. This may take a few days to decompress from the hard leg workout you did. Maybe it got over stretched doing the yoga routine. Too much pulling on a muscle one way or another will cause it to lock up and cause a lot of pain. Stick to the ibuprofen as needed and give it a few days rest. Work on trying to easily stretch and massage the muscles to get them to relax. You'll have to see which works best for you...a cold pack or heat wrap.
As for the weight gain... this is normal especially after weight training. Your muscles will swell up a bit so it seems as though you have gained and your pants may fit a bit tighter at first. Don't get nervous because as you continue with this program this will start going in reverse. (Keep in mind that muscles do weigh more than fat!)

Hey guys. I have just a quick minute.

Heidi-I never got around to buying anything at iTrain yesterday. BUMMER! LOL I've got my eye on a few things. Keep me posted on what you buy, use and how you like them.

Jenn-sorry about your hip. I agree with the meds and rest. Add in some more stretching. As for the weight gain...you're not talking a big gain, right? I suggest making sure you drink your water. Hang in there!

Jennifer-I vote for PLB. If you konw which exercise in that workout hurt your knee, just do a different move while Cathe's doing her move. Sometimes, I like to run that DVD while I do some work on my weight bench for leg extensions or leg curls. She keeps me on pace and I still get the Pyramid effect.

OK...cleaning is done! It's always a whirlwind, but I can get in and out of my friend's house in REMARKABLE time when I don't have the kids there with me. lol

I'm headed out the door for work. I'm bundling up. It's 40 degrees and windy, and I'm walking again today. I like to walk there and back, about a mile each way, every day to add just a bit extra to my weekly routing. It's all up hill there and downhill back. Why am I rambling about my walk to work? lol

Did my first weight workout last night in at least six months. The Dobe puppy we have (who is 72 lbs) decided it was great to lie on me and chew her toy while I did “skull crushers” and then decided it was more fun to try to eat the weights. It was hard to workout with her on me and then me laughing at her. But I got a nice UB workout in.

I got up and did Step Blast again this morning. I did something to my good foot, not the one with PF L I thought I had a cramp in my big to 2 days ago, but now it feels like a bone bruise or something right where the toe meets the ball of my foot. I still did my cardio…I’m not letting myself get off track unless I absolutely can’t walk.

I have a friend coming over tonight and nothing really healthy to make for us. Enough for BFL leftovers for DH and I. So I can opt to scarf dinner down before she comes over or order pizza and split my free day into 2 meals during the week. I'll have to think on that one.

Gayle: Wow, that is a busy day!!!

Heidi: I love the Fool Yourself Cookies. They are on my list to make next week to keep me on track!

Jennifer: I eat a M6 but it’s usually light and often just a protein bar or half of one, which really isn’t the best choice. I’m trying to be more focused and have cottage cheese and fruit around, but I’ve been lazy in that regard. I’m always hungry tho. Just too lazy to make good meals.

Jen: Hope your hip gets better! Being injured is no fun!!
 
Hi Colleen,

So glad you were able to get that workout in this morning. Your dog is and must be cute!
The snacks are really important to try to have handy if possible. It makes the hunger attacks much more manageable if you have something in the fridge cut up and ready to grab.

Quickies that I rely on in a pinch:
Cottage cheese and fruit
crackers and cheese sticks
fruit or veggies and cheese sticks
yogurt
These great cookies! 1-2 will be fine w/6 oz. 1%milk or soy milk
ya and the ever ready myoplex shakes and bars

Currently working on the house chores and cooking an Apple Pumpkin Bread for a friend coming over this evening to workout. It was her BD on Sunday so I decided to make her something really good for her.

Jennifer: So what did you decide on?

Finished my workout of:
PUB, ME Abs, iTread set 1 20min. Ended up burning 240cal ran just over 2 miles. This program included a nice easy run with a few hills and 3 blasts @7.0.

Gayle: I recently ordered the Outdoor Run Set 6 60min. I will give this a try out probably next tues. if weather holds up. Darn it is now sunny here and I could have done this one today before it rains again! Saturday we are suppose to get another storm. We'll see...

Colleen~ Your dog is adorable.
I have a Eskimo & Jack Russell Terrier. My JR is hilarous when I try to work out, always wants to play. Normally chases me around my step and hops up and down off of it.

Heidi~ I think I will do PLB. I will just have to be extra careful doing the step ups, as this is what messed up my knee before.

Gosh, I have been out of town and got back in yesterday afternoon.
I don't like being away and missing on my challenge but DH had out of town business. I am back and will be getting in my upper body workout.

Veronika, Welcome back. Hope you're ready to get back into the swing of things.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I took ibuprofen all day and I'm feeling better. Not great, but definitely better.

Heidi, I think you're probably right that I may have over stretched a muscle or something. I realized, too, that I changed the cats' litter boxes last night, which required lifting a 50lb bag of litter. Usually it's not a problem, but I was already sore and I think that movement, couple with the bending over to pour it, might have really done some damage.

Gayle, it was about a two pound gain. No, it's not much, but discouraging nonetheless, especially at this stage of the plan. Hopefully the added cardio will help tip the scale in the right direction. Thank you for the support. It's going to keep me going. :)

Hi everyone! I thought I would pop in and say hi :)

Jennifer, thank you for posting that cookie recipe...they are SOOOOO good, I may eat a serving every day! What a delicious treat :)

I got in some Tae Bo today but ever since I stopped teaching, my heart's just not in it as much so I don't get as much out of it as I used to. I think that's one of the big reasons why I got my elliptical (note to self: next time I do cardio, use the elliptical!).

Tomorrow is going to be a hugely stressful day. We're taking our dog Hero to the vet tomorrow and we've got to have him put to sleep :-( It's really hard, but he's eating even LESS than he was a few days ago and he has declined so much. It's time. So I am thinking that Power Yoga Total Body will be good for me. And I'm thinking about Muscle Max on Friday. Saturday I am leading a 4 1/2 mile hike, so that will probably do it for me that day.

Other than that, tomorrow I will be visiting the land of thermodynamics and air pollution in preparation for next week's tests.
