BFL - Wed - 4/30

Hi,

Back from my quick run.

353cal HR 156-184bpm. We have tons of hills for a great hill workout!

Hi Kathy: Nice you and DH were able to get out for a bike ride yesterday. It rained most of the day here. :-( Take it easy for the next couple of days. The marathon is tough! ( I am sure you are well aware of that fact. ;-) ) If you are showing signs of a possible injury it would be better to lay low on the heavy workouts.

Hello Melissa: You'll have to let us know how the tanner works out. It is bright and sunny here today but...too cold to go beaching. :+

How is your search going for the barbell? I contacted Troy and haven't found anything yet that will fit the Gold's Gym set with the barbell weights on the outside of the assists.

Hello Sue: It is great that your DH is learning to eat better and actually enjoy it. Wow! 3.8#'s down in the first week! Great job!
Nice job on HIS. Enjoy the DOMS later.:)

Off to quickly shower and pick up DS from school for his dentist appointment.
BBL Heidi

Hi Heidi! Hope you enjoyed your run! Looks like it's bright and sunny here today too. Once it warms up a little, I'll try out the tanner. I think I can get a 6 or 7 foot barbell at a little fitness store in the next town over. That's were I got my 5 footer. I'm really hoping a 6 ft one will work. But I have to wait until Saturday because he's closed by the time I get home from work.

Off to eat meal #3. I'm very hungry today. But what else is new?!;-)

M#1: applesauce banana bread & scrambled eggs (3 whites/1 whole)
M#2: apple & 1/4 c walnuts
M#3: w/w tortilla, 3 oz lean beef, 1T shredded cheese, lettuce & tomato
M#4: 1/2 c oatmeal, 1/3 c skim & 1/4 c walnuts
M#5: veggie chili
M#6: protein shake

hey girls, just popping in to report my workout:)

I did PUB/UB and abbs first then I did a PW on the treadmill. I had a nice sweat fest}( Everybody have a good day:)

Hey guys. I only have a few minutes to copy and paste a message I sent out to another group of fitness friends. Sorry for being impersonal!

To answer somebody's question my NEW trainer??? I linked up with somebody over at the BFL Tracker site who actually trains (and trains her clients for) figure/fitness competitions. I'm NOT planning on competing, but I'd sure like to LOOK like it! LOL I've been considering changing things up DRASTICALLY until STS comes out. I also considered many things....joining the local 'powerhouse' in town here (which isn't very convenient to my schedule), hooking up with a trainer (which is the way I went), or following a Cathe monthly rotation (which I decided I could do at ANY time). Yes, I'm paying her, and I'm paying her well. :) But I really REALLY feel SUPE confident that at this time, for the goals I've set, and for what I WILL ACCOMPLISH, this is the right way to go. For now, I've signed up for a month to try her out. She does EVERYTHING for me...writes a workout routine, a daily menu, unlimited support thru email, phone, etc. EVERYTHING! It's going to be really nice to have somebody who knows what she's talking about and knows how to exactly tweek things that may or may not work for me.

What I'm doing to prepare for her (I'm expecting to officially start her routine/menu Monday): Food-wise, I'm eating BFL meals, and journalling them all in my Weight Watchers Quick Track (I'm a lifetime member for almost 4 years now). I'm finding it VERY intersting. What I did for Mon & Tues was journall all 6 of my meals WITHOUT writing down any points for them. Then this morning I added up the points for each day, and interestingly enough, all 6 meals total 20 points! For some reason, all during my BFL challenge, I thought that since I was eating 6 meals everyday, that my caloric intake was higher, but it turns out that it's EXACTLY where WW says I should be! Go figure! My workouts, I'm doing WHATEVER I feel like! LOL I figured I'd get a week's worth of any workout my heart desires before Beka starts kicking my butt! I spent some time this morning reading some of her clients' workout comments, and I'm getting scared!

Oh, and a head's up. Next week is going to be VERY busy for me. It's Staff Appreciation Week at the schools, and since I'm in charge of that committee again this year, I'll be at the school the entire day to set up, work, then clean up and prep for the next day. PLUS, the Student Council is running a Coin Drive for/with me for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. So I'll be helping out with that as well!

OK...again, sorry it's a cut and paste job, and NO PERSONALS, but I'll be back tonight after my day FINALLY settles down!

ETA: Sue, my Aunt works in a big hotel up in Boston...can't think of the name right now. She's a waitress at this high-end bar inside the hotel, actually. I'll find out the name of it!

Hi!

Sherry – I wish we had a Panera Bread near us! Yep, those pushups in GS are brutal, lol. I hate push ups! I was talking to a guy here at work that bikes a lot and he had so much great information for me on shoes and pedals. Now I just have to get to the bike store.

Amelia – I hope that what the doctor prescribed helps you feel better. My SIL has panic attacks and goes through episodes as you’ve described. She’s learning to manage them when they happen, too.

Stephanie – LOL! I’ll let you know my number on Monday. ;) Great workout with the weighted gloves!

Heidi – Great run! Did you get your bench put together yet? I’m definitely chilling for the next few days. :) Oh, and you’ll need a 7’ bar to fit on the outside of the squat posts (a 6’ bar won’t work, I have one and already tried it). I got a whole set at Dick’s Sporting Goods (but have seen them at Sports Authority) for about $110. But you get the bar and enough weights to last a while. I actually like Olympic bars now, they’re quicker to change out plates because the clips are bigger.

Belinda – I hope you enjoyed Leaner Legs. I think 65 lbs. would be more than enough for LL….because it’s such a face paced endurance type workout.

Liann – Way to go on the chip ups….WOW! I’m still using Iron Woody bands and don’t see unassisted my near future, lol.

Carolyn – Thanks!

Melissa – I’m glad you slept well last night! What are your favorite BSN flavors? I’ve tried the Cinnamon Roll and Banana Bread flavors so far (I think that’s the correct flavor names).

Sue – Congratulations on your first week! Great progress! Wow, I hope you can get your laptop fixed soon. Good food planned and hi-five on inspiring your DH!

Gayle – You have a GREAT plan there! I’m wishing you much success with your new trainer and you’ll probably be ripped by RT time….woohoo!

Well, I just signed up for the Marine Corp Marathon. It’s not until Oct. 26th so I have plenty of time to get some hill training in, lol. You all probably think I’m nuts…I haven’t even ran the NJ Marathon that’s on Sunday yet (but I’m already thinking of the fall). :p I have to make hotel reservations quick if I want to get a hotel close to the race course. They require a one night deposit though, so it’ll have to wait a couple of days since I just spent tons of money this week on the RT registration and race registration. YIKES!

Kathy

Kathy - You are one super-motivated woman!! AND you just burst my bubble about a 6 foot barbell not working with the squat rack!!;-) I guess I'll have to get a 7. My favorite BSN flavor is Banana Creme. I like the Whipped Vanilla too because it's so versatile. Once I'm out of Banana Creme, I'm going to try the Banana Bread. Have you ever tried the muffins that you make from banana protein powder, oatmeal, an egg white and a little bit of water? I got the recipe in OD, but I think it was also in Oxygen. They are very very very dense, but not bad! I bet the Banana Bread flavor would be really good.

Gayle - that sounds awesome about your trainer. You'll have to keep us posted on EVERYTHING!!:7

Melissa – Thanks for the flavor recommendation! Banana anything is my favorite flavor, lol. Sorry about the barbell, I was a little disappointed when I got the rack set up and pulled out my old 6’ standard barbell and it didn’t fit, too. :(

I actually have a pretty good protein muffin recipe that I ate A LOT a couple of years ago. I like to pack one in my food bag to eat with my scrambled eggs in the morning. I found these were a little moister than the standard recipe but you have to be careful when you take them out of the pan because they fall apart. You could probably use liners (doh! I never thought of that until now, lol!)

VERY LATE post for me today! I couldn't believe all the posts already!

Hello to EVERYONE!!

Okay, I took the day off work today and decided to spend it with an old friend. We decided to spend the beautiful day power walking. We did 3 miles and chatted the entire way. We didn't feel an ounce of guilt when afterwards we went out for lunch! I'm telling you ladies -- I have decided to ENJOY each and every workout!

Thanks to all of you enablers -- I'm going to the link to buy the core workout you all raved about yesterday! It sounds fantastic! Off to shop!! :)

Michelle

Michelle - sounds like you had a great time!! Glad you enjoyed your day. Oh man, and I had just forgotten about that core workout. Thanks alot! Now I have to go buy it..;-)

Kathy - that muffin recipe looks yummy! It's printing as we speak...

I NEED that core workout. My belly is the one thing that doesn't look thinner with just a tan! (Wish Dave could bottle that!!) har har!!

Michelle

Hello to you all,

Hi Michelle: Glad you had a great day!

Hello Gayle: Look out! Here she comes with ripped muscles!:+ Keep us up to date on how things are going. Sounds like she is going to have some awesome workouts lined up for you.

Hey Kathy: About that barbell...does it weight 35#'s just by itself?
ETA: Thank you for the muffin recipe! I am printing it right now.:)

Hello Amelia: Great job on your workout! My upper is feeling it from yesterday. Have fun with your DOMS tomorrow. :)

BBL Heidi

Oldest DS is on his way over.
(To visit and of course to do laundry;-) )

Hello Carolyn!

What cardio are you thinking of for today? I hope that you have a great workout!

BBL Heidi

Hey Michelle! LOL, I can use some belly help myself! :p

Heidi - Yep, the olympic barbell that I have weighs 35 lbs. all by itself. HTH.

Kathy

>Hi Sue. You work in Boston?!!! I live in northeastern MA!!
>Great job on your weight loss!! That's AWESOME.. I have BSN
>Chocolate Fudge Pudding. It's good! Let me know how the
>Pumpkin Oatmeal Muffins come out. I keep looking at them in
>the cookbook but haven't tried them yet.
>
>BTW, your menu looks :9 !!!

Thanks Melissa. So, NE Mass? Are you on the Northshore? I live in Norfolk (near Walpole) where my Hubby and I built a home in the woods. We used to live in West Roxbury. I work primarily at brigham and Women's Hospital but I will sometimes parachute in to Mass General.

Kathy, congrtas on your Marine Core Marathon. You're a bigger man than me. I've done about half dozen Half Marathons but never had the courage or persistance to train for a grueling 26 miler! It will be great following your training.

Gyale, sounds like you're tweaking things to fit your current needs and goals. That's what it's all about, Baby! I used to be on a predominantly fitness comp oriented thread. Now that's real intensity. Have you ever checked out "One Buff Mom"? She trained for almost 2 years and did amazing in her comp last year.

Hi to the rest! Really love the group!!

Sue

Hi Kathy,

I guess I will have to keep looking. My current barbell weighs only 10#'s.

My DS which is 13 uses weights also and I think a 35# barbell is too much for him. I know he will try to add more weight on the barbell than he can realistically handle. (It's a mental thing seeing those plates on there...you know what I mean ;-) )

Did you recently order the ab workout from Tracy that everyone is talking about?

Still looking...sort of waiting to see what Cathe has instore for us with her new ab dvd from STS.

Oh...yes to putting that bench together. It is sitting there waiting for a new barbell!

Melissa: In our search for a barbell to fit this Gold's gym weight bench....
The inside dimensions for the barbell hand area should be at least 41". I checked out Troy online and their 5ft bar is only 35" plate to plate. We really need to take a measuring tape with us when we go looking at the local sports stores.
One type of barbell that I don't want is the one that you screw the plate hold on instead of having clips. I really want one that has the clips for easy plate changes. Also...ok I am picky...I want a 1" diameter barbell as well. :)

BBL Heidi

Hi Melissa:

I found a barbell that looks interesting....

Dick's Sporting Goods

Item #5975 Cap Barbell Regular Solid Chromed 84" bar $39.99

Item #1190342 TKO Quick Clip Weight Collars (for 1" bar listed above)
$3.99 each

I am going to call my local store to see if they have these in-stock so I can just pick it up.

Good Luck!

BBL Heidi

ETA: Scratch that! They don't carry them at the stores!

Hey guys! FINALLY get a minute to just BREATH! lol Kids are tucked in and I'm about to go plunk in front of the TV. On the OD, I read that Tony will be presenting the P90X set LIVE on QVC at 8:30...which is in about 3 minutes here! Think I'll go get an eye-full of that gorgeous HUNK! LOL

I got my first round of emails/meal plans from Beka my trainer! I'm pumped! I went right out to WalMart and picked up the few things that could be picked up there. This is going to be interesting. She's got me eating/drinking things I don't drink...and never have! LOL BUT...I'm willing to give it my 110% effort and make this work! I want to get my money's worth!!! I can't WAIT to see the workouts she cooks up for me! I'm officially starting her program on Monday, so the rest of this week is going to be your official standard BFL eating, and my workouts are going to vary depending on my mood!

Speaking of which, I've got LB on tap for tomorrow! OH! AND ABS, since my new Tracey Core Blast arrived today! I'm thinking either Leaner Legs or Barry's Boot Camp LB, then Tracey's core. I'll let you know in the AM. My goal for tomorrow morning is to be IN THE BASEMENT BY 5:30am...no later!
