BFL vs. BodyRX - Can anyone tell me what the basics of each are?
I have an acquaintance who is staring the BFL but I read here about people doing BodyRX. Can someone tell me what the differences are between the two?

In Body RX it is recommended that you skip cardio and weight train only. You also do 4 different food cycles, changing your pro and carb amounts. In BFL you do UB, cardio, LB, cardio, and so on for 6 days and then take a rest day. You also get a free day where you can splurge a little or alot, which ever you like. You eat 6 small meals a day condsisting of a carb and a protein. I hope that helps a little.

I am by no means an expert but in addition to what LoriSax says the key differences are in the workouts and in the diet.

BodyRx consists of 4 6-week cycles (Strength, Sculpt, Burn Fat and lastly Maintenance/Endurance). He puts food into categories, Green, Yellow and REd and gives guidance as to how much you should eat of which. All is done based on calculations that include your body weight etc. I have his book and learned a lot from him in regard to food, fiber etc. He focuses a lot on protein and fibre. Many women on this board and others have done this program and have had great results. They should be able to provide more than I can.

Body for Life on the other hand consists of 6 meals, all of which include a protein and a carb (all are portion size equal to your fist). Plus you should eat at least 2 portions of veggies a day. His key focus is on intensity, not overtraining and working muscles to burnout. You do 6 days on and one day off as Lori described. You alternate Cardio, upper body, Cardio, Lower Body, Cardio, Upper body, etc. Cardio is only 20 minutes of HIGH INTENSITY (although some of us do 30 since we do step etc.) The focus is also on recovery. As you can see from the cycles you have at least 2 days in between all wt work. I am doing BFL and am loving it! The workouts are a blast as you really push yourself! I am not hungry, am seeing some results after only 1 week! I did it a couple years ago and lost 30 lbs.

I had been doing the intensity series since January and had great results at first. I was too guilty of overtraining and hit a plateau. For folks like me BFL is perfect as it forces me to eat right and not overtrain. I find that I become more focused on the food versus hours and hours of workout! I like it because food is usually more than 90% of my problem anyway! With BFL I literally workout 1/2 the time and am seeing better results! Intensity is definitely the key though!

I decided to do a program like BFL primarily because I was feeling so overwhelmed by all the info. out there. I was doing my own thing, taking bits and pieces from every one it just hit me that maybe that is my problem! I was investing a TON of time in overtraining, over eating, working out hours a day and seeing NO results. I needed a program and I need to just stick to it once and for all! My friend also won Bfl last year so it motivated me that real people do these things, and do see success!!

Check out the BFL Winners site at http://groups.msn.com/BodyforLifeWinners/general.msnw There you will find a ton of info, support etc. There are also some great motivational stories for inspiration.

Anyway, as I said I am no pro at this stuff. Just thought I would share what I do know, which isn't much;)

The differences between BodyRx and Body for Life are explained by pros in detail www.leanandstrong.com.

The ladies here have done a very good job of explaining the basic differences though. I will say that Dr. Connelly, while not being a propenent of extensive cardio workouts, (because too much cardio tends to eat up valuable muscle), has nothing against one doing some cardio on his program.
