BFL (starting)Week 3 Check-in

HI Ladies,
Is anyone actually starting weeek 3? This is weird for me b/c I am trying to catch up to my book and I haven't been taking any free days(as in working out).Today I will be doing cardio(ending week2)and I will go right in to upper body tomorrow.So,in the book I will have started week3 but on the diet I won't be starting week 3 until Wed.Very confusing but thats me;)
I have had two good nights sleep the last two evenings.I have went to bed at 10:30 and I didn't get up today until 7.I always get to bed early when my husband isn't home.The cold finally seems to be moving out of my system.
Today I need to try and stay focused on the week to come.I was pretty godd yesterday although we went to a movie and I had a couple hand fulls of popcorn.I have to follow this thing.I have already invested alot of time and money! About $200.The book and my supplements.
I hopped on the scale again just now.I am still at 126.5.Which is fine with me.Maybe next Sunday I will be down to 124.I think when I get below 125 is when I will see some real changes in my body.I can already see my wasitline getting a little slimmer.I am finding my meals a little boring so I think I will go into the BFL website,write down some recipes, go to the store and pick up the ingrediets.Im getting tried of eating chicken and sweet potatoe.
All of my workouts are going well.Then again, working out was never the problem for me.I think this is another reason why I am so bored b/c my husbands gone.Normally, I would work out even more while he is away, just b/c I could.I thought about it last night and the night before but didn't.Today I am scheduled to do Imax extreme.I think I am going to try to do more then 2 parts b/c of all the eating last week.I may take my daugther swimming later and the dog needs to go for a walk...but it is SO cold!:(
Did anyone take their measurments? I lost my mearsuring tape.I should go buy another one today.
Alright off I go to sort of start week 3.Its funny b/c we check in at the beginning of the week, as if we haven't been chatting all week long and we don't know what each other are up to! Who do we think we are kidding? I like checking in everyday though b/c I find when something consumes so much of your time and thoughts, you need to talk about it.And people who are not on the program don't want to hear about it.So, we have to stick together.

I am really struggling today. This is why I hate to take my free day on Sat. I love my church, my coffee, and being lazy on Sundays. So it is do I workout, go to church and be rushed, workout tonight, say forget today and go on tomorrow??? We are having a family dinner today at my mom's so it is kinda a busy day. Well, after ALOT of thought I am going to church and coming home and doing my PY UB tonight. Maybe I will do C&W just to do something different, or add on a CTX cardio. I did not have the best free day yesterday. I know I will have some good and bad, and yesterday was bad. BUT.....could it have been worse??? Yes, very much so. Talk to you all later!!!!!

LuvCardio...where do you live that there is mountains?? I have always loved the mountains. I live in MI, so there are none, but my husband and I love to go to Lake Michigan which ahs the same calming effect on me....

Hi girlies! Today we decided to skip church and get our disaster of a house organized. I woke up at 6:30 a.m. this morning and decided to sleep and workout this afternoon. We went to bed after midnight lastnight so I just didn't have the energy. Plus to day is Lower Body so I need all the energy I can get.

I am so ready to be back on the program today. I enjoyed my free day yesterday but felt gross at the end of the day. Next week I am going to take it easier. We went to Lone Star Steakhouse for lunch. Other than eating cheese fries :p I was good! Then for dinner we had mexican and I had a cookie for dessert. So all in all I satisfied my cravings and definitely ate more than I should have.

LoriHart - my schedule is off to. I am on week 2, day 1. I kinda started it a few days prior but didn't give it 100%. So my personal start day is last Saturday. I am not going to try and catch up to the book. Why not just start on the right day of the week where it will work?? Since I formally started last Saturday I had an extra day in there and just took an extra free day on friday from workout (by suggestion of EAS). So now today I am right on the calendar!

LoriSax - I live in Colorado. The mountains were beautiful yesterday and soooo relaxing. It was pretty cold up there though because of the wind. I hear ya' on the Sunday morning thing. I love going to church but it is so hard to fit it all in. I am bummed now that I missed church today.
 
Have you guys been using Leaner Legs for lower body days? If so, how? Has it worked? I am thinking of trying it today and then adding some exercises on our universal wt set (presses, extensions etc.)

Any pointers will be hugely appreciated! I am not working out until this afternoon when my 2 year old goes down for a nap so if you post them this morning I'll take your advice for my workout this afternoon. :7
 
I did LL, w/ my rocker though. I think it works great!!!! I am just mainly concentrating on UB workouts and LB workouts, not paying so much attention to the rep schemes.

I have just been sticking to PLB thus far.I think later on I may mix it up a bit.
I went to my mother-in-laws for dinner.I ate more then 1 serving size of each but at least I stuck to the broccoli and pork.(and I only had 3 meals today,that one was my 4th)She pulled out a big piece of carrot cake for dessert though.I had a piece about 1 inch in width and 2 inches in length,I didn't fall completely off of the wagon.
Guess what I won? I rolled up the rim on my Tim Horton's coffee and won a new peddle bike! I was so excited.I already have a bike but I'm not complaining.Of course my husband said to bad it wasn't the 53" t.v.If I won that t.v then I would diffently be doing my workouts in the family room.Can you imagine how big everyone would be? You could probably see the sweat rolling off of Cathe's face.
I got another e-mail from SND and they said the CLA I got helps burn body fat.They also said that they have to change labeling in Canada.Wonder why? Anyway,it was a good enough reason for me to keep it.I probably would of had to anyway,I already have them open.They also sell those Detour bars.I didn't know that when I ordered my products but you have to buy them by the box.Maybe next time.

Hi girls! I am doing the same thing that Lori Sax is doing - concentrating more on the UB -LB idea than the rep scheme. Today I did kind-of a fun workout . I did LB from ME + the floor work from PLB + abs from ME. It was an awesome leg workout!!! Just an idea for a substitute in case anyone is getting bored with PLB, LL, or PS SLA. I hope that everyone had a great Sunday!! Talk to you tomorrow!
 
Well, I kinda blew today. I had a piece of cake, a little ice cream, and I missed my workout. Tomorrow I will be back on. I knew this would happen when I had a dinner at my mom's today. I have been reading the BFL board at lowcarbfriends.com, and I am seriously thinking about cutting out a few carbs. Not my fruit, but maybe have oatmeal in the morning, muffin or something for the second meal, and then fruit and turkey or chicken for lunch, pro bar for meal #4, fish and veggies for dinner, and 1/2 Myo Lite w/ a sc. of pro powder for meal #6. I think I am going to try this tomorrow. I missed an UB workout today, do you think I should go for cardio on an empty stomach tomorrow, or go for The Viper??

Lorihart-that is so cool you won the bike! Awesome! I never win anything! I don't know what to tell you about the CLA in canada? I have it too and have seen a difference but not sure if it is that or the 1 million other things I have changed in my diet/workout the past month?

I too think on upper body I am going to quit worrying so much about the BFL way. I don't have a problem w/upper body much anyway, just my abs and legs/butt is my problem. I think I am going to switch every other time... do one day BFL then the next on my own. What do ya' think?

Today I did a combo. I did PLB BFL style. Then I added leg extensions and a high intensity press on my universal wt system. Then I did the PLB stability ball section entirely. I love that one. I like your idea Sarah of doing ME lower w/stability ball from PLB. I'll try that soon. Then I also did the upper body from ME since I hadn't worked upper body since Wed. due to my schedule screw up in when I started this thing. Then I did abs from boot camp! It was a great workout. It focused on legs and core but I got some upper in there too.

Tomorrow morning I am doing either 35 min. of Imax 2 or Imax Extreme! I can't wait!

LoriSax - I thought of you when you said you were going to your moms. I probably would have done the same thing. Oh well. Just pick up the pieces, go on and focus on the rest of the week. Viper might be good but then it might also throw off your schedule? Maybe just stick to UB if that is what you are suppose to do. Or you could do viper but keep it really light on the wts??

I too am wondering a lot about my carbs. I really wish I knew exactly how much was the right amount. I am also confused of how much starch carbs like wheat bread I should be eating, if any??
 
You aren't going to believe this, but at 8:45 I went into the basement and did Py UB. I was just fretting over those little blow its today, PLUS not doing my workout. What workout was I going to do tomorrow??? I was getting myself in a tizzy. So, I just did my workout. I thought just because those guys slip up on the food, they don't blow there workout off, and they don't eat terrible the rest of the day!!?? So, you guys inspired me, and I did it. That workout just blew me away tonight oo. I am getting higher in the weights, but those Pikes on the ball, I still can not do. I can do them 1/2 way for the first couple, and then I just mainly balance on the ball. I do not do the one foot lifts either, I just balance. My core must be weak, but I try. Well, I made a couple of mistakes today, but thanks to you guys and your determination, I recouped and did not toally blow my whole day. Now tomorrow on to cardio on an empty stomach and week 3!!!!!

LoriSax - You GO Girl!!! I am so proud of you. YOu will be so happy the rest of the week. Now you can workout according to your schedule! Yeah!!! :7 I was gonna tell you to try and fit it in but I didn't want to be pushy in case you weren't feeling up to it! Plus I didn't know what time it is there.

I am still struggling with the pikes too. I can't even do the side planks that are in Boot Camp. It is really frustrating but I guess we just have to keep trying.

That is what we are here for.... encouragement, support and someone to chat with who understands. Just always know you are the one who knows your body best! Sometimes you just need a true FREE day (or free weekend:))

I am going to bed so I can get up early and do Imax2!!!! Yeah! Have a happy Monday morning!
 
Yep ,that is good news.Nothing like AFTER you have your workout done.Sometimes I just have to put my sneakers on and not think about what I about to do.Just go and do it.
I am offically caught up with the book today.PUB today and I have my workouts already.I even fastforwarded All Step for after (MAYBE).Its amazing the things I did last night in preperation for today.I got my workouts ready to start,made my shakes to eat,got the coffee already just had to press "on" when I got up,put my BetaGen in a glass,took my coffee mug down out of the cupboard and put some protein powder in my purse for work.Now, I have all those things done for the day but I might do this every evening.It only takes a few min, but when you are trying to get out the door for work in the morning,it seems to take alot longer.
Hope everyone has a good day,remember we CAN do this thing.Mind over matter.And the feeling of accomplishment will be well worth saying "NO" to those easter eggs all week:7

Hi Everyone,

LoriSax - Where in MI are you? I am in Stockbridge.

I am on week 2 day 1. Did Lower body today. I am following the weight program as it is outlined in the BFL book. Eating went well also. My cheat day was Saturday and I only had a couple pieces of candy. Eating is my biggest problem so one week down and 11 to go. We can do this. I even lost 2 pounds last week. That was so nice. I have a long ways to go but it is a start.

Hope everyone has a great day today. It is finally getting warmer here in MI. Hoping it stays that way.

Rhonda- I am in Wayland which is 1/2 way between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids??? I do not think I have ever heard of Stockbridge before?? I will have to go find it on the map and see how close we are.

Well, did I get up and do my cardio on an empty stomach?? NO. I had such ah headache, I just laid there. I finally dozed off for a bit and when I woke up my stomach was growling. There is a reason they call this a Challenge isn't there??? Well cardio with food in my stomach is better than no cardio at all. I am going to try to do some of Imax Extreme. I have never done it before.

This week is going to be a struggle for me because I am a Premier Designs Jewlry Consultant and I have 4 shows this week. I will be home late alot, and on the road. But you know what?? I love my job and I have brought food with me many times in the car.

LuvCardio- Such a good message about "Tweaking" but I am still going to cut out a few carbs a day. I am also going to pay a little more attention to portion sizes.

We are about 20 minutes north of Chelsea. I would guess we are about 45-60 minutes. That is only a guess. We could be further, since i don't have a map here at work I am only guessing.

Tuesday is Cardio for me. I am going to try to get some running in this week on the treadmill. Last week I was doing inclines and i think I am going to switch it up this week and through in some running intervals.

My legs are sore right now, a good sore. I know I worked them this morning.

Hi Ladies!

Just reading all these posts have made me re-think whatI've been doing - holding back during weight training, extra rest day (even though I was somewhat under the weather) - that I'm happy that yesterday was my TRY IT day! It was upper body and I pulled out CTX UB. After realizing that I could have gone just as heavy as Cathe during the barbell work for back, I increased my weights for all the other exercises. I figured I could always stop or drop the poundage and continue the set. So I'm pretty proud of myself today! :) My triceps are speaking loud and clear right now - loving it though! :)

Can't recall who asked about this but I use Leaner Legs once per week for leg work. I go a little heavier than I probably should for the exercises since it is endurance but I also want an excellent challenge. If it gets to be too much I slow the reps down or stop early or rest briefly and then get back at it. I like it just as much as Pyramid Lower Body which is why I'm keeping it in my rotation. I know I'm sidetracking from BFL somewhat but I like the shorter tougher workout. This evening though I may throw in a couple of sets of walking lunges at the end.

I haven't lost any inches :( BUT my legs are feeling firmer! :) Yeah baby! :p So I guess it will all come in due time! But my bigeest problem is cardio! When I get into weight training like this I start dreading cardio - I just want to do weights, weights and more weights! Especially now that I'm getting stronger! :)

So week 3 actually starts today for, so I am on track as fas as that's concerned but if you asked me training wise, I'd have to admit with the last 2 weeks each having an extra rest day I have to say no. But I going to try to not worry about that. I do think that if I had to re-start each week that I goofed I never get past the second week! ;) So I'm going to look at each day as a new day to get it right and IF by chance I falter then tomorrow is another day to improve upon today.

This is my planned week:

Sun- CTX Upper Body (done)
Mon- CTX Leaner Legs plus walking lunges, maybe inner/outer thigh work with resistance tubing
Tue- Cardio (hopefully this will be a 3 mile run)
Wed- Pyramid upper, 20 minutes cardio(?)
Thu- Pyramid lower
Fri- Rest
Sat- Cardio (long run I pray :))

Didn't buy any supplements this week other than some TwinLab energy Fuel in the little cans. K-Mart had a great deal on TwinLab products, would have loved the Diet Fuel or Ripped Fuel capsules but the shelves were cleaned out. All that was left was the cans of Energy Fuel so I purchased two 4-packs for a less than the cost of one 4-pack. I tried a can once before when the big K had them on sale. I purchased one sigle can and felt a boost in energy and wished that I had saved it as a pre-cardio workout drink!


Time for me to get going. I promised I'd get a good start on my work today. Will chat with you all later!

Hi all.....I did the whole Imax Extreme, except the weight part, I FF thru those. I know I shouldn't of, but I truly was enjoying myself, and that cake and ice cream from yesterday was ringing in my head. It was a good workout. I actually liked it and I am not a cardio lover. It was a good mix. Well, off to the shower. Have a good day everyone.

Anyone here getting ready for a week 1 ?

I'm in week 11, one more week to go before I finish my 1st challenge. I plan on starting my 2nd challenge after a week off( will be doing Cathe's tapes though)I will start on April 7th...anyone else here who is targeting a start of a challenge that week? It would be really neat if some Cathe fans doing her workouts start on or around that day.

How did everyones day go? Well,I started the day with PUB and I worked my triceps,biceps, and shoulders REALLY GOOD!!!:eek: Then I did All Step after.I had a good eating day, although I picked at some protein bars but that was no biggie.I just want to stick to my meal plan to.I had a potatoe,chicken breats and broccoli for dinner.Then I needed something sweet so I had a little bit of cottage cheese and canned friut.I am stuffed.Even though everything was my serving size.But I drank alot of water to.
Tomorrow is cardio.I think I may stick to IMAX 2 tomorrow.Even though I am not doing alot of cardio,the cardio that I do do,is high impact and my ankles are starting to hurt a little.

Justwant2bfit,what results did you get from the program? I am hoping that when I get back from vacation(may16) that I can jump right into another challenge.I will be getting ready for the summer monthes then to.I can't wait for summer.:p
