BFL question

For those of you on the BFL program, does it work?
I bought the book years ago but never really did it because I wasn't sure how to incorporate the recommended workouts with my own videos and classes at the gym. Most are around 45 mins and the book says to do 20 mins. Plus, I have Cathe strength videos, like PUL, PLB, Muscle Endurance, etc.

How have you worked this out? Do you do half the cardio video? Do you do the Cathe weight tapes at all or go by the book?
Is the eating part really hard to follow? I don't really like protein shakes but the book uses them a lot.

Thanks for any input!

PS- A new book, "Eating for Life" by the same author is coming out soon.

Hi,
The first time I did the program I did it by the book (but hubby was also doing it). I lost about 10 pounds. Needless to say I gained about 8 of it back. I did the program again (just me this time) and started going by the book then half way through I changed up and started doing Cathe weight tapes but kept the cardio as it stated in the book. Lost 10 and kept it off. Trying to do it again but not going by the book. I have changed my exercising around and now I am pretty much on my own.

Eating I started off good but now I need to get that under control.

The hardest thing about BFL I think is the planning. You need to eat six meals a day and if you don't plan, then you usually don't get your meals in or clean meals in. I don't do shakes at all. It is suggested as an option because they are quick and easy to make.

You can use some videos for BFL but if it were me, I'd do the first 12 weeks by the book. The cardio is a different type of cardio, interval training. The lifting is similar to pyramid lifting, but not quite.

I am now rotating my weeks as follows;
4 weeks BFL weights and interval cardio training (IMAX type)
4 weeks Pyramid weights and interval cardio
4 weeks S&H and interval cardio

That being said, I get my best results going by the book, however, I do get bored so this was my compromise to stay motivated and keep up with the program.
