BFL NOVEMBER already!!!!

Cathlete
Good morning! I canNOT believe it is November already! Where did October go? Unbelievable!!!

OK...I posted last night just to stay accountable, and I finished the day out 100% on target. Trick or treat was fun, but very tempting...the kids kept getting the kinds of candy I LOVE! But I've put some aside to enjoy on Sunday!

This morning was HIIT and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I woke up this morning and the bike was calling my name, so off I went! LOL Logged my best yet...5.8 miles, which was the goal I set a few weeks ago. Time to set another distance goal!

HOW ARE YOU LADIES TODAY??????

Gayle

Hi to everyone,

I hope everyone had a good night with all that candy freely floating around!;-)

I am waiting for my DS to get ready for school. Have been checking the newest rotation out by Cathe. It looks great and challenging too. I won't be tempted to switch over to the new DVD's yet because I want to finish this rotation first. It is going to be a long 7 weeks waiting though!

Gayle: On another forum they were talking about Cardio Coach..do you or anyone here know anything about these programs? Just wondering if you have ever tried them and what your thoughts were.
It is a downloadable workout from cardiocoach.com or you can buy the DVD's. It is used for cardio workouts on treadmills, ellipticals etc.

Todays goal:

EAT CLEAN! I am putting this in first because of the candy now sitting on my counter and looking very tempting!

BM2 Timesaver
MM Abs
Stretch

Maybe a run with daughter when she comes back from her internship. She is in a training meeting for dealing with radiation today.

Jill: I have taken your idea and went out yesterday to get a calendar notebook to write in my workouts by the month. I just flip to the page and there it is in black&white and waiting for me to check it off for the day. Great way of being planned ahead so there is not too much guessing what I am going to do. Of course as with all things it is not ever set in stone! ;-)

Jen: How did things go for you last night?

Veronika: What is your workout for today? Did you have a good night as well?

Kerry: Where are you? Hope things are going ok for you.:)

Hi, Heidi! I actually have a few Cardio Coach workouts, and iTrain workouts (itrain.com). Personally, I prefer iTrain workouts. They offer audio WOs for the treadmill (iTread), bike (iCycle), ellip or stair climber (iClimb) and several others. I find all of them wonderful, motivating and FUN! They make the time fly no matter what I'm working out on!

I like the idea of the calendar notebook!

Gayle

Hi Gayle,

Back from dropping my DS off at school.

Does the iTrain workouts have great music that really ups the beat? Do they coach you through warm-up and set speed and incline?
I have never used these type of programs before so I am not sure what they are like.

I got my notebook at CVS. It is really great! Each day is large and has hours of the day from 7-6pm. It also gives you a month at a glance. Special info. pages, addresses and notes section.
For my workouts I printed out the weight worksheets by the DVD's I would be using and tucked them into the notebook. This way all I have to do is open to the months day page look at what I have lined up,grab the worksheet and head to workout room. Pretty simple and fast.

Now...on to that workout!
BBL :)

Good morning everyone!

Gayle, great job on maintaining your will power last night. I wasn't as disciplined :-( , but I wasn't horrible either. Throughout the day I had one chocolate covered pretzel rod, one mini Butterfinger, and a handful (like 10 or 12) peanut butter m&ms. It could have been much worse given the atmosphere, believe me. Total junk food fest. Now I just have to stay away from the candy the kids took home last night, which I SWEAR is at least ten pounds! (Rolling my eyes...)

Heidi, I love the Cardio Coach workouts. I only have two, but Coach Sean is pretty darn motivational. And the price is right. At fifteen dollars a workout, it pays for itself in no time. I say go for it. I've also tried iTrain and I liked the workout a lot, but I liked the music in Cardio Coach better. I'm pretty sure you can listen to clips on line, so defintely check it out.

Veronika, glad to have you back and to hear you had a good time with your DH.

I'm thoroughly exhausted today. It's upper body for me tonight, so I'll have to spend my day gearing up for that.

BBL ~

Jen

Hi Jen,

Good job last night. That isn't too bad on the candy.

Which CC programs do you have? They are having a sale buy2 get 1. Really tempted to try these out but not sure which would be better for treadmill usage. I don't have an elliptical or bike.

Ok...now onto that workout! ;-)
BBL

Heidi-just wanted to give you a bit more info on the iTrain workouts. (not to vote against Jen' CC, though, lol, because I like those also). iTread (or whatever you get) has an instructor that talks you thru each level of the workout. For the iTreads, you have 3 levels...walked, jogger and runner. She gives you a number (or a range of numbers) and that's how fast you go, or how steep of an incline. THAT's why I like the iTreads....the workout is all planned out, I just have to pick the level. I WILL agree, though, that the music on CC is a bit better....I just like having the rigid workout already planned out!

Gayle

Hi Gayle,

Back from finishing my workout.

}( Wow I need more practice on that BM2 Timesaver moves. I got totally confused and had to keep rewinding.
Did MM abs after and boy that is a tough one after doing a cardio workout! Finished with the MM stretch. Now ready for my shower, food and get my DS for his doc appt.

I haven't checked this one out yet but is it available on dvd or as a download to an mp3?

Have a nice afternoon. I'll be back later on. :7

Hello Workout Buddies,

Heidi, thanks for putting down what you were going to do today. I have been doing Imax2 and quite frankly wanted to do something new. So I believe I'll do BM2 timesaver. Then I'll do abs , yoga and stretch.

OK, Here are my measurements people:
Weight 134( gained a pound)
waist 31 and a half(lost a inch and a half)
lower abs37 and a half(stayed the same)
hips 37 and a half(lost a half of inch)
chest37 lost an inch
upper thigh 21 and a half (lost a half inch)

There we have it,Some good ,some bad ,some ugly.
I know it didn't change much because I haven't been eating clean.Especially last night with the candy bars and while I was away.So here I go again. It is a new day and I have written down everything I am going to eat today in my notebook that is wide open on the kitchen counter.

Gayle, I am so proud of you.You have serious self control and determination.I want that.Veronika

I'm back but not because I finished working out.I haven't even started. I just can't believe it is already November and I am happy that even though I don't have these huge changed results, I am so happy that I have been working out consistently. It has been so much fun and I am enjoying this very much.Thank you so much for being here with me on this adventure and more importantly for your faithfulness. I know I wouldn't be here and doing this if it weren't for you doing this more consistently than me.

Veronika

Veronika, congratulations on your consistency! Last month wasn't exactly consistent with me, but I'm making it! It is so helpful to have others to do this with, isn't it?

I just finished my workout this morning...I did Yoga Conditioning for Athletes. Talk about bliss! I feel fantastic, especially after yesterday's Muscle Max!

Hey again!

Veronika-I AGREE! We've been doing this little check-in FOR A MONTH now! And we're further than where we were a whole month ago!!!!

WE ROCK!

lol

Heidi-you can buy the iTrain workouts as either an mp3 file OR on CD I believe. I usually buy the mp3 file!

I'm off to cut the grass! This better be the LAST time I cut it this season! I'm SICK OF IT!!!!!!! lol

Gayle

Hello everyone...

Gayle, you're making me feel guilty. I haven't mowed my lawn in about a month, maybe more! My neighbors must hate me. Thing is, it's not all that long because it got pretty cold a few weeks back, and the weather has been pretty dry overall. However, the LEAVES that are covering it look awful. I was just thinking this morning that I'll probably spend most of Saturday doing yard work. Yuck.

Well, I'm freaking out a little. I'm five and a half weeks into this challenge and my results have been nominal. I feel like I should see more by now. My diet has been clean, I haven't missed a workout, and yet, my measurements are the same. Sure, my pants started to fit better, but it's not like I can go down a size yet. It's like they started to loosen up a little about a week and a half ago, and then everything just stopped progressing. What's up with that? Do you think I need more cardio? I've been doing 25-30 minutes three times a week, and I make it intense. I lift as heavy as I can... What to do?? I was talking to my BF about it this morning, and he agrees that I seem to be doing everything right. He sees what I eat and he knows my workout schedule, and he doesn't get it either. It's like, from a purely scientific angle, I'd have to say I'm creating the deficit needed to lose fat. BUT it's NOT coming OFF!!!

I need some tips, girls...help. ;(

Jen

Hi there. I was wondering if I can join your check-in? I feel off the BFL and entire workout bandwagon about a year or so ago. I can't remember the last time I even posted here.

I used to do BFL faithfully with great results, but have let myself slip a lot...2" worth around the middle section and hips!

Colleen

Colleen-ABSOLUTELY you can join us. If you're a seasoned BFLer, we may pick your brain quite a bit! LOL Welcome aboard!

Jen-HANG IN THERE! Keep at it. Check out the BFL Tracker (www.bfltracker.com). I lurk there quite a bit and have read a LOT about the '8 week miracle' that women experience with BFL! Many women start seeing big changes around the 8 week mark. I'll see if I can find the one article I read and copy and paste it here for you girls!

Gayle

Welcome to the forum for BFL Colleen!

Glad to have another...even if you are just re-starting.:)
I agree with Gayle about picking your brain. You might have some suggestions which could help all of us.

Gayle: I could have sworn my grass was cut not too long ago. Now it is about 3 inches or so! I guess we have had a good amount of rain lately so this is why I haven't mowed it.
Thanks for the info on iTread. I am going to check this out tonight.

Veronika: I look at your loss in this way...Total inches lost 2.5.
Yeah! :) That is 2.5 less then the last time right? Keep going and I bet things will be changing faster in the next few weeks.

Jen: What type of cardio do you do mostly? Maybe you do need to pick up the pace or even the miles. For every 1 mile you are using about 100 calories. 10,000 steps of walking at 3.5 is 500 calories if you can't run. I do have to say that taking it outdoors is a lot more of a workout than what I feel on the treadmill. All the variations in the terrain make a difference. Now that it is getting colder you will be burning even more calories because your body has to work that much harder at keeping you at the right temperature.

How's this for a workout:
Mon. upper and abs
Evening walk or light run

tues. cardio of choice 30-40 min.

wed. Lower and abs
Evening Walk or light run

Thurs. Cardio as above

Fri. upper and abs
Evening walk or light run.

Sat or sun put an extra 20min of cardio.

The following week just change it around to meet the BFL program for legs 2X and upper 1X.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Jill: Getting in your stretch must have been really nice. I did just the abs today from MM and I can't imagine how much you must have felt doing the whole routine. The abs really got me on this one. }(

BBL...cooking dinner as I write.

Hello Colleen,

We would love to have you.Today we are into our second month and we are going stronger than ever. This group of ladies are so challenging and supportive that I think you will like them.I know I do.

Ok ladies,I am a little surprised that you are not saying anything about the weight loss. I am not comparing but Gayle has lost 12 pounds and I've gained a pound.Don't you think there is something wrong? I think it all comes down to eating.Gayle is doing it right to get those kind of results. And she is very faithful in her workouts and sticking to the program. It just hit me like a ton of bricks that this is what it will take to get the results we all want and not just talk about it.I think I'm really preaching to myself but I'm sharingwith you what I'm really thinking. Today is a new day and anew month. What do you all say to recommitting for the month and stick to the program or y'all can just tell me to be quiet and keep my thoughts to myself.I won't be offended.

Veronika

Thank you for all your support, ladies!

Gayle, I will hang in there, just seriously having a bad day. I wish I saw SOMETHING to keep me motivated, you know? But I don't plan on throwing in the towel at all. This is a way of life, so results or not, I'll just keep plugging. I'll take your advice about bodyforlife-tracker and read over there, too.

Heidi, I like your suggested rotation. I'm going to give it a shot. For cardio I have tons of Cathe dvds, a treadmill, and an elliptical. I try and use one of the machines one day and a dvd the next, and then leave the third workout up to what I feel like that day. I've seriously been thinking of getting a bike for a change of pace too. Getting out in the evening isn't always an option...time is limited...and I try to get my longer weight training workouts in on the evenings the kids are with their dad, and then do the cardio on the nights they're home with me because it's shorter. I feel guilty taking too much time way from them, because I feel like they spend enough time away from me already. However, what I may do is get on one of the machines for a moderate cardio session every morning before work. Thanks for brainstorming with me :) !

Veronika, YES, it's time to recommit. New month, new attitude, right? Okay!!

Sincerely, thank you guys so much. You've lifted my spirits. BBL~

Jen

Veronika....I agree with Heidi....you've LOST...INCHES which sometimes is more impressive or important!

AND YES.......let's RECOMMIT to another STRONG Month!!!!!

KEEP WORKING IT, LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE CAN DO THIS!

WE ARE DOING THIS!

Gayle

Hi,

Back for quick chime in to recommit and burn some weight, fat and calories all in one!

Hi Gayle: I just downloaded some workouts from itrain, itread and iclimb. Sets 5,21 and 23. I have them on cd so I can mix it up.
Disk 1: running intervals/iclimb
Disk 2: iTrain Tag Team/cool w/State of oblivion premix
itread 40min treadmill workout. This one I can opt for walking, jogging or running if I so desire.

COOL...WAY COOL! I think tomorrow I am going to do the treadmill workout to get accustomed to the program, music and the voice of Grace.

You go Jen!

Veronika: What is a pound? I could weigh myself in the morning and be down 2 and by the end of the day I could be up by 3. I think depending upon when you weighed in your going to get a different perspective. Geesh! I gain about 5-8 by the time TTOM arrives!

Stick with it and we will conquer all!}(
