BFL for Tue Feb 12th 2008

Good morning everyone!

Belinda - I ended up doing the 2nd half of Imax 2 this morning. I really love the 2nd half! How many dogs do you have?

Tammy - Way to go on going heavier!! I had a hard time at first, not following a DVD, but I found that I can also lift heavier too. Who knew?!?!

Sherry - I agree about exercise being a great way to keep the spirits up. Another storm coming our way tonight, so I'll need all the spirit-lifing I can get!!

Michelle - I DID IT!!! Aren't you proud of me?? I was up at 6:30 and had my workout done by 7:00. I feel great! Now that my workout is done, I won't know what to do with myself tonight.

Stephanie - Imax 3 blast only is alot of fun! Congrats on your measurements being down!!

Heidi - Are you hunkering down getting ready for the snow? It was 13 degrees this morning, but the wind wasn't blowing as much as yesterday, so it didn't feel as cold. I'm kind of hoping that they cancel school tomorrow!

Rhonda - I started off using PUB and PLB. Right now I'm doing BFL weight work, but I will probably throw them back in next week just to mix it up a little. I think they work great with BFL.

Gayle - That soup sounds great. I'll have to add that to my list of things to make.

BBL to chat!

Woohoo, on getting that HIIT in early Melissa! How do you feel? Isn't it a relief to know it's done and out of the way! ;)

Kathy

Kathy - It feels great that my workout is done. I have so much energy today, too!

Carolyn - So sorry to hear that you are still sick. I have a barbell and I love it. Mine is 5ft, which is the perfect size for me. However, it is a little too short for my weight bench so I will have to buy a 6ft pretty soon. I agree with Kathy, it is a very worthwile investment. I also am feeling like I hit a plateau of sorts. I ended up switching up my HIIT from nights to mornings to see if that jump starts something. I also have been going back in my journal and looking at my menus and my notes for some inspiration. AND, I am not going to weigh myself until Week 9. I'm tired of that scale bringing me down and not in a good way!;-)

Carolyn, I do hope you get to feeling better soon. Good luck with your workout. Don't over do it! I don't have a barbell either and was wondering the same thing.

Gayle, right now I'm looking at iTREAD Outdoors Set6 or iTREAD Outdoors Set10 60 Min. How many do you have and which ones? Oh, and by the way, I will be "training" for a 5k coming up on March 29th. (Belinda, if I can do it, YOU can do it!) My ds will run it with me. He usually runs 6-8 miles a day so he said he would probably run the race and circle back to finish with me! LOL Makes me feel SO special. ;-)

Thanks Kathy! I'll look for them this evening.

Waves hello to Melissa and wishes her a great day!

Hello to all,

Carolyn: I agree that using a barbell at times is better. Leg presses for instance. I did PLB and went up in my weights just a bit.

I am using a BB for most of the exercises at 25,30 and 35#'s. My legs were shaking after this workout! I had been using DB's 2X10,12 and 15's. My barbell is the old "Firm" style with the nice pad attached. My DS has a barbell that twists together and is about 6-8' in length. I don't use this because it needs a pad and I am afraid it might come apart during chest presses.

I hope you get better soon. This cold that is going around is pretty bad from what I hear. My DD ended up going on meds for it. Luckily I haven't got it yet! More OJ please!!!!

Rhonda: Go for the Pyramids! I love mixing up my workouts. I use SH, GS and Pyramids. All of which you can rewind and do again if you really want too. ;-)

Gayle: Nice run this morning. School is still in session here. Might not have any tomorrow though. Snow " have decreased as of last report. We are expecting 2-4. No big deal unless it gets iced over.

Hi Melissa: You are in the NE too right? The more I hear about the so called storm it looks like it might just end up being rain. Good for you for getting in your workout early today. :) Your doing great and don't let that scale dictate how things are going. How you feel is a better indicator. Stronger by the day! :)

I went out and started cleaning up the debris from the crew. They just threw it out the third floor window onto a tarp my DH put down. Of course they wanted a dumpster but DH wouldn't go for it. So guess who gets to clean it up!? It is covered over now with another tarp for the snow to arrive. The last thing I need is for this to get weighed down with water.
Sheetrock hangers are done! Next is the plastering crew. Not sure when they are going to be here yet.

Back to work for me. BBL Heidi

Back to work. BBL Heidi

Hi ladies,

Heidi** have you decided on the workout that you want to do tomorrow? I walked my dogs for an hour today! It is between 40 45 degrees here in Germany! Have fun at work!

Kathy** how long do you take your dog for a walk? Mine could go for hours!

Sherry** my DH wants to buy me more iTreads, but I have a hard time deciding on one!

Gayle** I still haven’t done that Power Yoga Total Body DVD! What UB are you doing tomorrow? Stay warm when your winter storm is coming! I think we getting colder weather too! It was cold today! Thanks for posting your Roasted Vegetable Soup! I will make it this week! Have fun with all those kids this afternoon!

Melissa** I need to do IMAX 2 the second half soon! Glad you had fun! I have two dogs! If you click on my pituretrail you can see them! Great job getting your workout done so early!

Carolyn**sorry you still having that cold! I didn’t get that bb (with the screw on) the other day! It wasn’t what I had in mind! I do have a bb set in the states! LOL! I need to look online to see if I can find a bb!

What workouts are you doing tomorrow? Have a great day/night for me!
Belinda

Heidi - I am in NE too. North Eastern Massachusetts. I haven't really watched the weather yet today. Someone here at work told me 4-8 inches in my area.

Belinda - your dogs are adorable!!

Last night after my workout, DD and I ran to Target. I hadn't had my protein shake yet so I checked to see if they had any Myloplex Light bars and they did. I got the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Crisp one. It was quite a nice little treat. Reminds me of a Luna Bar. I actually felt guilty since I had already written down "choc-banana protein shake"! I was pretty pleased with my UB workout last night. Starting to get some DOMS in my lats again. I feel like my back is getting really strong and it's starting to look different. My back-fat roll is getting smaller and that makes me VERY HAPPY! I might even take another set of bikini pics again this weekend. Or maybe I'll hold off until Week 9.

M#1: vanilla protein shake w/2t instant coffee, 1T ground flax seed
M#2: 1 cup turkey chili
M#3: salad w/can of tuna, 1/4 c black beans, veggies & 1T edamame
M#4: apple & string cheese
M#5: grilled pork chop, 1/2 c brown rice, sauted veggies
M#6: 1T natural pb on two slices of w/w bread or oatmeal

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I only have PUB/PLB recorded from FitTV, but the PLB is all the exercises (minus warmup), will have to look at PUB to see what it may be missing.

I may start this week and I did BBC legs today and plan on doing a short/intense (HIIT) workout tomorrow. Have a question for those that use the iTrains - I have most of the iTreads and some iClimbs - 1-24 - which ones do you use for HIIT for BFL?

I have an olympic size barbell - weighs by itself 45 pounds which I do use for squats and plies and I do have the plates from 2.5 pounds up to 50 pounds to add on. I also have a leg extension and leg curl attachment for my bench. So I should be all set to go with the BFL. I just need to try to get the eating back on track. Especially getting more protein.

Unfortunately I ordered BSN Dessert Protein from VitaCost and it is on backorder, hopefully to send out next week. I do have some other protein power that is OK. At least it mixes well just by shaking and using water.

Sorry to ramble on - Rhonda

Rhonda-I really like using iTread 13 Sprints and iTreas 19 Sprints. Both are 30 minutes long and are AWESOME workouts!

Stephanie-I have a bunch of iTreads, and I keep telling myself I'm going to keep a list as I add to my collection, but I never do! LOL My favorites right now, if I had to choose are:

set 13 and set 19 for Sprints
set 25 Top 40 for the HILLS
set 26 for the TEMPO.
I hope that helps some. Maybe tonight my project will be getting my list updated and if I do, I'll share it with you, ok?

Gayle

p.s. Have a chicken roasting in my Nu Wave convection oven and it smells so YUMMY!

p.p.s. Did I mention that SO stopped by last night with my belated BDay gift???? He bought me a Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS and HRM!!!!! What a guy!

Gayle

Hey, Ellen. Good question! I'm using 1/25 pound plate mates and 1 pound weighted gloves (that I usually use for kickbox workouts)! So, for 17.25 pounds, I've got on the 1-pound gloves, and I'm holding a 15 pound dumbell with a 1.25 pound plate mate on the end. Creative, hugh? LOL

Actually, on my next trip to the used sporting goods store, I'm hoping that they have a pair of plate mates or something similar too! I'd like another pair, but I'm trying to save on the shipping!

Gayle

Hey Ladies,

Quick question:::: ok,I LOVE my natural peanut butter so my question is can I eat my npb everyday? I measure it with my tbs measureing spoon!

The reason im asking is because today hasn't been a very good day for me(emotionaly)and ive had two pb sandwiches today ! Its one of my comfort foods, but its clean;-):D

Hey Everyone –

Sorry to be MIA today. What a busy day at work! I guess it’s payback for being half asleep on the job all yesterday!

Anyway – I wanted to give you guys that granola recipe from Oxygen. There was actually a mistake in the serving size – it makes 30 1/2-cup servings – not 15. I have corrected that below.

Here goes:

Muscle-pumping Granola

1. Preheat oven to 350.

2. Mix together in large bowl: 6 cups old fashioned oats, ½ cup flaxseeds (coarsely chopped), 2 cups sliced unsalted almonds, 1 cup raw unsalted pumpkin seeds, 1 cup raw unsalted sunflower seeds, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon.

3. Add ¾ cup safflower oil and ½ cup honey. Mix well.

4. Add dried fruit, chopped into smaller pieces if necessary: 1 cup each of apples, apricots and cranberries.

5. Spread onto baking sheet(s) lined with parchment paper. (I omitted the paper – my pans were non-stick).

6. Bake 30 minutes, stirring every ten minutes.

7. Cool and bag into 30 ½ cup servings.

8. Each 1/2 cup serving has: 10.5 fat/23.5 carb/5 protein/207 cal

I eat mine with low fat string cheese or yogurt and protein powder to get a bit more protein into the meal. It’s yummy!

Have a good night - see you in the morning -

Christina

PS - I did step intervals today. Plus - I joined our new local gym so I can get on a treadmill and try those itrains!!

Christina-thanks for sharing that recipe! YUMMY! Congrats on the gym membership....off to iTrain.com you GO!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Ellen-I meant to type that my plate mates are 1.25 pounds each (not 1/25). sorry

Amelia-you know what? I've got a bit better perspective on a few things after my Birthday week of food. If the NPB satisfies you and it satisfies your nutritional values too, then by all means, PARTAKE! If it keeps you from eating UNclean stuff, then eat up. Journal it. Keep portions in control and in perspective, and you'll do fine!

Gayle

Hi Kathy,

That is quite the walk! It has been really cold here all day. No snow yet.

Tomorrow's plan:
COREMAX 2
PUB
iTread 24 30min

See you in the AM! Have a great night. BBT Heidi :D

Hi Amelia,

I love PB! I add it to my protein shakes. Today's shake:
1tsp PB
1 Banana
c.soymilk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (wild harvest brand)
6 ice cubes

Split this with my DD. She really liked it. :9

PB is great as an extra protein source.

Have a great night. BBT Heidi :D

Hi Christina and Gayle,

Thank you both for the yummy recipes. :9

How exciting Christina to be able to have access to a treadmill. I hope you enjoy your first iTread!

I will be back in the AM Have a great workout. Heidi

Gayle,

That is quite the present! I have one and love it for running trails in my area. Have fun with your new toy. Heidi

Hey Melissa,

Do you see anything yet in the way of snow??? Just darn cold!

If you are ever in the area of Gloucester...check out Ravenswood Park for the trails. These are great for running and exploring the wilderness. You might even catch a glimps of a deer with me running behind it. ;-)

Have a great night! Catch you at the gym tomorrow. Heidi

Hi Michele: You both must be wondering how I can so much written this evening...(DH is resting still HeHe :D ) Take Care Heidi
