BFL for Thu Jan-24-08

Jennifer – I had no idea you’ve been through so much. Kudos to you for being such a good mother! My Mom and Dad divorced when I was eight years old and my mother went through a string of bad relationships (ALWAYS putting the man first) and it got old. I moved out of the house when I was 16 years old because I just couldn’t handle it anymore. So when I read you post, I thought “I’m so happy you’ve taken such good care of your children.” I’m also sorry for all the financial hardships, they’re tough (we just bought a new house and adjusting to the new payment and increased utility costs has been a struggle.

Okay Melissa and Michelle (and all you other Biggest Loser fans), what the heck is going on with the Orange team??? I liked them a lot but this week when they back stabbed the Pink team (by having their little discussion with the Yellow team before elimination), I was disappointed in their sportsmanship. I’m really rooting for the brothers (Black team) or the football players (Gray team) to win, now.

Kathy

I agree - what's up with the Orange team??

I was sooo sad to see the pink team go. But they both looked good in the end -- and more importantly their mother/daughter relationship really grew!

One strange thing that I noticed with the yellow team -- I thought he was trying to win his wife back -- and then when he was talking about the letters from home he said he missed his girlfriend ??

Okay, Bob was teaching them what to eat for breakfast and the son from the orange team said he goes through a drive through and gets the muffin, 2 hashbrowns, etc. with a 'breakfast soda'. Bob honestly asked, "What's a breakfast soda?" The son says, "Any soda you drink for breakfast." ha ha ha! (Doesn't sound funny now, but is sure was on the show!) :)

Kathy -

I've got PUB set for tomorrow. I remembered that you posted you workout yesterday so thought I'd take another look. Wowza woman!! I can't believe those weights! I just moved up to my 15 lb dumbells. I see I have a long way to go!!!

Thanks for motivating me to try and lift heavier tomorrow morning!

Michelle

Michelle,

I always get my abs in. Now that the layer of flab is slowly disappearing, I like to be able to "feel" my abs when I work them.

It has been years since I've done S/H bi's & tri's. I'll be feeling the DOMS tomorrow.

Carolyn

Michelle – The daughter on the Pink team looked GREAT when they showed their afters! I felt bad for her because it seemed like the mother was doing it mostly for her and not herself. I laughed at her parting words, she really did have a funny sense of humor.

Yeah, I’m not so sure about the Yellow team. I’ll admit I was secretly hoping they were going home when they did the first vote (before they announced the twist). :)

LOL, I totally missed the breakfast thing…DH changed the channel pretty slow for me. I had to go watch the second half upstairs because he wanted to watch something else.

I’ve been lifting for awhile now…used to go to the gym. My lower body is MUCH stronger than my upperbody, lol. I think you’re doing great, the Pyramids don’t have any rest periods (like the BFL workouts) so you can’t go as heavy. ;)

Kathy

Hi back again,

Just checking in with my workout finished for the day.

I ended up doing the iTread Set 24 60min interval workout. This one I like a lot. I planned on an easy run and that's what I did. I kept my sprint speeds no higher than a 6.8 on the treadmill. It felt really nice.
The rest of my workout was:
Abs from TB Sculpting
Stretch from LIS (both of these are on the same DVD)

Kathy: You and I think a lot alike...just being able to get in a run after a bad injury is pure heaven to me. Back in my race days I broke my tibia...on the worst side possible and it took more than a year to recover! No running during that time about killed me. I walked a lot and stuck with strength workouts as much as possible.
Getting back to running took a little bit but I am there...not as fast but there just the same.

Michelle: I too will probably be doing the PUB on Friday. I did this last on the 9th. Next week is GS series.

Melissa: Where would I find the "Puzzle Mats"? Sounds like this might be possible to get in myself.

Carolyn: Great job on SH! Feel the burn! I work my abs almost everyday too. I just don't feel complete without them. :)

Have a great day and workout if you are doing it later.

Hi girls,

Kathy - I used to like the Orange team, but after this week, not so much. I did feel bad for the Pink team and I loved what the mother said about coming back skinnier than all of them. They both looked great at the end. I love that part! I think I'm gonna route for black or gray too. Or blue. I don't really care for the others.

Michelle - the breakfast soda made me LOL! Too funny!! I did PUB last night. Watch out for the bicep section...}( !

Heidi - I bought my puzzle mats at Dick's Sporting Goods (online). Mine came in 1 foot sections and they are black. I think there was 12 to a box @ $9.99/box. I ended up ordering 10 boxes to get free shipping and it worked out great. If I remember correctly, shipping was like $40 so it was worth buying more to avoid it. Now I have enough for my area, my DD has an area and I have some spares. The spares come in handy because our cat likes to sharpen her nails on them. Everyone once in a while, I pull them up and rotate them around just so I'm not always using the same section. I looked on their website so I could show you the ones I purchased and I didn't see them. I did see some that are similar though. These are 2ft x 2ft:

Belinda - I'll let you know if 4DS Bootcamp ends up being HIIT. I have a feeling it will!!!

Hi girls,

I made refried beans! They are really good!:9 :9

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ancho chili powder, or other chili powder
1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, preferably low-sodium, drained and rinsed (I cooked fresh pinto beans)
2/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth, plus more if needed
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until tender, about 3 minutes. Stir in the garlic and chili powder and cook for 1 minute more. Stir in the beans and chicken broth and cook until the beans are warmed through, about 5 minutes. Mash the beans coarsely with the back of a wooden spoon, adding more chicken broth to moisten, if needed. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in the cilantro.

Belinda,

As of right now, my arms are feeling pretty good. I'm sure it will be a different story tomorrow. Of all the S&H workouts, I feel I got
the best workout from chest/back. I could go much heavier and actually felt my muscles contracting. Although I was sore for 4 days!!

Good luck with it next week.

Carolyn

I'm trying very hard to resist the bowl of dark chocolate M&M's that someone just put out on the counter.

Me likey dark chocolate...}( !

ETA: I might as well post my meals while I'm here talking about food I shouldn't eat!!

Hey!!
Well, it is apparent that I suck at checking in on a regular basis! I spend most of my time studying and find when I do come and post I get sidetracked and spend too much time reading. I will try and do better though about checking on everyone.
I have not missed a workout and while I wish I could say my eating has been 100% clean..it hasnt. It must be the moon Gayle..I have just been ravenous and making some bad choices. I havent lost any weight either grrrr.
Time to pick up dd and her friend so I better go. I will be back though!!!!!!

Susan - Great job for not missing a workout! That's my plan too!! I haven't lost any weight either -- but I am feeling something is happening -- my pants felt a tiny bit looser today. Yeah! I really should throw away my scale -- it's driving me CRAZY@!

Jean - Where are you today? I hope your spirits are up!!

Thanks a lot Melissa - you gave me a CRAVING and I had to come home and get some CHOCOLATE. I was good - I just made some dark chocolate protein pudding real quick. MMMM. :)

One more thing about Biggest Loser -- what happened to the blonde trainer? And if you could choose a trainer who would you choose?? I'm a wimp so I would just die if Juilian (sp?) was my trainer. I just loooove Bob!!

Michelle

Hello,

Thanks Melissa for the info on the mats. I will check this out.
Have a great workout later.

Hi Susan...keep up your studies. You are doing great getting in your workout even with the course load. We completely understand so don't worry.:)

Hey Michele: Yeah! Great to have looser jeans...that counts even if the scale doesn't work....;-) Love it!

Have a great evening. BBL Heidi:7

Michelle - DEFINETLY BOB :7 :7 :7 :* !!! Sorry about making you want chocolate, but more importantly, how do you make dark chocolate protein pudding???? I don't know what happened to the blonde trainer on BL, but I didn't really like her anyway. I can't even remember her name...

Heidi - You're welcome on the mats! I have heard of some people being able to find them at Home Depot and Walmart.

Okay, off to do some HIIT. Still not sure what, but I'm going to do something! ;-)
