BFFM - cardio and weights

I have not yet purchased the BFFM book but I am considering it. I was wondering how much cardio he recommends per day and how he recommends splitting up the weight training (and how much time to spend weight training body parts). I need to mix things up because as I approach 40 I seem to be consistently gaining weight everywhee. It is so discouraging. I love to workout but hate the thought of working out 2 hours a day - 6 days a week (but if that is what it takes.......)

Thanks!

BFFM - It is a book that you can purchase online called Burn the Fat - Feed the Muscle.

Does anyone know what he recommends for cardio and weights time and duration?

There really is no prescribed formula to BFFM. Venuto stresses that, as unique individuals, each of us will need to employ a certain degree of experimentation when it comes to achieving our fitness goals. The key is to be flexible and change up your plan when it's not working. The book provides a number of nutritional and training strategies that you can use to get results -- it is truly worth the download.

That being said, for maximum fat loss (it sounds like that might be what you're after), Venuto recommends high intensity cardio for at least 30 minutes per session. Three days a week is a minimum; the more days you add, the greater your results. For weightlifting, Venuto recommends 45 minute sessions: 3 total body workouts per week on non-consecutive days; intermediate exercisers should strive for 3-4 w/outs per week on a two-day split (half the body one day, half the next).

HTH. I highly recommend purchasing the book.
