BFFM and subconscious

Winter

Cathlete
Hi All,

This book talkes about the power of the subconsious mind.

I was wondering if you could relate this to other symtoms or traits other than losing weight such as being tired all the time.

I slept great last night and was awake at 6:30. I am never really refreshed when I wake up. It is now 8:30 and I feel tired.

I am always thinking in my mind that I am so tired. If I tell myself that I am not tired all the time would I change my subconsious and actually not feel tired all the time?

This is only if I am interpreting this part of the book correctly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Winter

Funny you use being tired as your example because I use to do the same thing! Then I started telling myself I wasn't tired and it helped, a lot! Now I am to the point where I don't even have to tell myself I am not tired....I just **assume** that I am not tired. I allow myself to think I am tired after dinner!

I really LOVE all the self talk and positive thinking Tom speaks of. I know it made my training so much better and helped me during my marathon in a huge way! I love the suggestion to say everything you want in the present tense!

I hope you enjoy his book as much as I did!:)

Thanks Sarah....I am going to work on this and hope it helps.

Shelley..........as always you make me laugh..............

Winter - thanks for starting this thread. I "think" I'm always tired too. Maybe I'm really not. In fact, I'm not. How's that? I'm going to start telling myself that.

Sarah - I'm happy to hear it worked for you. And that Tom's book helped you with your training. I think I will use this for my breathing issues when doing cardio, especially on the bike.

Winter - here's to a wide awake day for us both! Of course my doggies got me up at 4am and I wasn't able to go back to bed. I wonder if I could start not being tired tomorrow. :7

Shelley, Shelley, Shelley - what can I say? :p

I have to chime and say I love this about Tom's philosophy too. I really find that overcoming hurdles is about 90% the thought process. If you tell yourself thousands of times that you are tired, hate exercise, want the chocolate etc., your brain believes you! I am absolutely convinced about this. "I'm not tired at all! I have tons of energy!" How's that for positive thinking! I have already convinced myself I love working out, and you know what? I really do!

Suz, You have our permission to not be tired tomorrow! Fall asleep in your soup as much as you need to today! 4 a.m....YIKES!

I agree that the thought process is 90% of the battle...if not MORE!! Our minds can convince us of amazing things! What goes on inside our minds shows on the outside, it really does! It affects how we carry ourselves, how we come across to others, the impressions we make, the way we communicate.

I have found during workouts that if my body isn't "in it" then my brain can convince it otherwise and carry the load. However, if my brain isn't in it...I'm pretty much screwed. That's why I think it is critical to have a pocket full of positve words and phrases to use during your workout to use instead of negative ones.

STRONG, POWER, PUSH, FAST, FLUID, SMOOTH, LOVE THE BURN!!! Works better than I'm tired, this is hard, burns too much, can't wait until this is done.

Now, go stand up straight, look in the mirrior and tell yourself how strong you ARE, how beautiful you ARE, how fit you already ARE, what an awesome athlete you ARE. Keep it in the present tense! Say it, believe it, live it!!

Wow! Thanks Sarah! Great words of wisdom.

I was riding with a girlfriend this morning and it was windy and she was tired and she kept saying how much the wind sucked and I kept telling her it builds character (since it's windy here quite frequently we love to say that to each other - but she's never joined in - maybe soon). She just looked at me and grunted. :) Amazingly though the wind didn't seem to bother me for a change. So you're absolutely right.

And I'm not tired yet! Yay!!! In fact I forgot I got up that early until I jumped back on here. :p

One little tag on here if I may :) - remember to tell it to yourself in a positive statement...

Instead of saying "I'm not tired!"

Choose "I'm energetic!" or "I'm well-rested!" or "I feel great!"

But if you need the nap, give yourself one LOL.

Yup totally agree. The thoughts you keep thinking create your experience. I do this too which I have been trying to change re: thinking you are tired. Focus on how you want to feel instead works. Read some books about the teachings of Abraham. They focus a lot on this. Excellent books.

Oh, YEAH!! I forgot that part and it is pretty important! The use of a negative word even when used in a positive manner leaves a black mark.

Whew! Thanks for picking up the spare!!
