Better Cuing Left/Right on Step workouts

NY25

Cathlete
I have done LIC and just tried BM2. However, other than the first segment in BM2 there is absolutely no cueing relative to left foot/right foot. I find it particularly helpful to have it, especially on moves when my back is turned to the TV. The first sequence was easy to follow, but the others, with absolutely no cueing became impossible to follow. Also, on of the segments in BM2, with the speed skaters over the step, the cue "the step off is with the foot that is last on the floor" was a tremendously helpful cue. It would have been more appropriate however on the first time round rather than the fifth. Poor or non-existent cueing will definitely prevent me from purchasing further step workouts. The cueing on all of the other workouts is excellent, so I'm not sure I understand the drop-off on the most complex of the choreographies. And left/right certainly isn't oversimplifying it in any way.
Please!

Interesting. I've never noticed this nor have I been tripped up at all by this. I guess everyone's different.

I'm just bumping this up to the top, in light of the new announcement, in hopes it gets read and considered. Thanks, Cathe!!

I totally agree. Everyone does this. I noticed it more when I did a lot of The Firm. They would say "Now take your BACK leg..." when saying "Now take your LEFT leg..." would have avoided all the confusion. Since most workouts are done in mirror-image (i.e. They tell you to put your right leg on the box but they're all putting on their left legs), and the better workouts have complicated footwork where the right leg is worked, you do a bunch of other stuff, then they work the left leg (or vice versa), it can become a problem. If you get on the wrong foot (easy, especially when you're just learning a new routine) you could wind up working the right leg twice and the left leg not at all. If you do a workout like this often enough you may not even realize there's a problem until you realize your left quad is looking much more defined than your right...

Though Cathe doesn't do this as much as everyone else, it's a legitimate concern throughout the industry.

Bodymax 2 is one of my favorite workouts and I regularly use the warmup plus circuit step/weight section in my rotation. However, I still seem to get tripped up when doing the diagonal facing over, then 'step off the edge and across the step' move. I always seem to be on the wrong leg and most times end up working the same leg.

Some of us need the cueing a bit more than others. I tend to be less observant and lose myself in keeping pace with the intensity of the workout so I really rely on plenty of verbal cues (a simple step off with the left foot, switch for two counts then step with the right...works wonders for me).

exactly - it's amazing what the words left and right can add -
I've even gotten to where I've started creating my own cues and saying them as I go through the workout to try to help
Meantime - KPC, Bootcamp and Drill Max are becoming my "go-to's."
