Best shampoo for dry scalp or dandruff.

Went to get my hair cut today and the lady said I had a terrible case of dandruff. Boy was I embarrassed! I knew I had like little scabs on my scalp but didn't know what it was doing. She suggested going to see a dermatologist. Is there a shampoo that would work good for it? She said I needed to get rid of it before I get my hair coloured. Help!


Really want to try something before I go to a dermatologist.

My DH uses Head & Shoulders and it works great for him. I think Neutrogena also makes some.

I suffer from dry scalp on occasion. When the weather goes from hot to cold and then again from cold to hot. T-Gel works well for me when I need it. I have also used scalpicin if terribly bad.

I agree with the other's...try the regular dandruff shampoos first before you start shelling out the $$$ for a dermatologist. Like Diana said, sometimes a dry scalp can be a seasonal thing too and easily treated with medicated shampoos.

Thanks for the recommendations ladies. I color my hair and I need to start some kind of treatment before I put any haircolor on my scalp. You ladies have given me some good choices.

You will get immediate results with Neutrogena's coal tar shampoo. I have the same thing and once I started using that, it is cleared within a week. Make sure to let it soak in for 2 minutes before rinsing.
