Hi,
I am new to the Cathe board and have a question about weight loss and toning results.

I have all of Cathe dvd's and all of Jari Love's DVD's.

I need to lose about 60 pounds. I know weight loss is more about diet, but I also want to incorporate weights and cardio into my program. Which do you think would give me the best results.

3 month Jari love rotation followed by 3 1/2 month STS rotation or

6 1/2 month STS rotation

I love Cathe so much more than Jari, but I've heard that endurance weight training is better for weight loss than heavy weights.

Any opinions?

Hi!

There are plenty of people here that can speak on STS - I have purchased the set; but, plan on using it in the Fall. I am just not ready for it yet. I know that the STS program is adaptable for wherever you are at in terms of weight requirements, etc.

What I can speak to is "weight loss and toning" - I have about the same amount of weight to lose as well. From what I researched - cardio was critical for weight loss.

So, I started at the end of October with Cathe's Beginner Rotation (see thread right above this one) which included low impact step, sculpting with light weights and bands, circuit, abs, and stretching. I think I purchased 2-3 DVDS for the entire 12 weeks!

In my honest opinion - it was the best start for someone who needs to lose weight and get strong. The combination of cardio (with step), strength training (with sculpting), circuit (cardio+weights), stretching, and abs - touched on everything.

I lost 22 inches. The weight was slower to come off; but, now that I joined "My Fitness Pal" for food journaling - the weight is coming off.

I am now moving on to Intermediate (See thread about rotation transition from beginner to intermediate plus the intermediate thread as well) - and my body is ready for the new challenges. Cathe now incorporates heavier weights 2 days a week - but, it is doable. If I had not prepared myself with Beginner - it would have been frustrating for me.

Cathe seems to incorporate the right balance for someone who needs to lose weight. I do have a Jari Love DVD and enjoyed it. I just feel more "at home" with Cathe and the team.
