Best exercises for hips

Hi Cathe,
Congratulations on the new baby. I am a fan of all your videos. I have every one of them. You're the best instuctor and the only really advanced one there is. Keep it up.
I would like to know your advice on the exercises I should do to focus more on my hips(saddlebags as they are otherwise known). I do not have a set routine for legs since they are not one of my favorite areas to work but I do at least one of your leg tapes once a week along with alot of step or hi/low (Trying to get into the treadmill but having a hard time. I like tapes because they provide some company.) I love working upper body so I concentrate more on that. I would like to concentrate a little more on that area of my legs so if you could give me some advice on how I should work that particular area it would much appreciated.
Thanks for your time and again congratulations and good health,
Deb
PS Any advice from anyone out there will also be appreciated.

Hi Deb! Thanks for the kind words.

There are many combinations of how you can work your legs but I'll start with this.

Two times a week do the following:

40 minutes on the treadmill(7 minutes are a walking warm up and three minutes are your cooldown). After your warm up, continue with brisk walking if you don't do this regularly. But if you can eventually run for this workout, it would be more challenging. Even do a walk/run if you cannot run the whole time.

Then immediately following your workout, do the squat track from Power Hour and the lunge track from Power Hour, and finally, the floor work portion of PS Strong legs. Have fun!

Thanks for such a quick response. I know you have a busy schedule. I will put that into my workout schedule.
Thanks, Deb

Wow! I just got a new treadmill, so I may try this combination too. It sounds like a real killer -- hope I can pull it off.:)

Thanks for the great question Deb and thank you for the workout Cathe!
I've always collected padding on my lower body also. I too like to work my upper body figuring it will balance out the lower half and to some degree it has. Actually if you wait long enough, like til menopause, those saddlebags will migrate to your gut. :-wow
I think I'll measure today and start this workout twice a week as prescribed by Dr. Cathe. Let's watch those saddlebags shrink!

Hi Kay,
Going to get started in the morning with Cathe's perscription.
It does sound like it would work. I am going to stay positive and focused. Good Luck to you also.
Deb

Cathe,

If I was going to do this 2x a week, would I still need to do another full leg workout like from MIS or PS?

Hi Slenamond! Everybody responds differently. Try leaving it out first, and then if after three weeks you think you need an additional leg workout, you could add in a full leg workout from MIS.

Hello; I just tried this treadmill routine of Cathes yesterday and oh my gosh, I have never sweated so much in my life. Either my workouts havnt been hard enough or this one is just to much for me because when I got through I could barely move, and felt dizzy, I could not even think about doing additional legwork after this. Should I still try the floor workouts after or just wait until my body gets a little more use to this workout? Also, are all treadmill speeds the same because running on 8.0 was just way to fast for me to run for 5 minutes. I subsituted this speed for 6.7. If I ran 8.0 my heart would pump out of my chest. Should I still keep trying this speed or would it be dangerous?

Are you talking about the treadmill workout Cathe posted some time ago? I don't think she meant to do it followed by the leg workout, but a 40 min. walk-run. And yes, 8.0 is sprinting. I think most people jog/run between 5.0 and 6.0.
