I think its healed:7 I have a question though. Those of you who have it pierced, does it get smaller? The skin that was pierced use to take up the whole length of the barbell that was in it.I even bought a piece of jewelry and it was almost to small, it was nipping the skin together. Am I making any sense?
Anyway....the skin is about 1/2 the size it was when it was originally done and it is totally healed.3 monthes not bad. There is absolutely nothing comming out of it.Gross but true:)

Sounds like you are coming right along! I know what you are saying and it sounds promising that the swelling went down and you are not getting the ooze anymore ;) I kept cleaning mine in the shower with antibacterial soap for a full year but they say that you can fully heal in 6 months.

Good Luck!

I still clean mine meticulously and I've had it for years. And be warned. Don't take the jewellery out for long, because that thing'll close over faster than you can blink.;)

yeah, I clean mine if not twice ATLEAST once a day. Does the type of jewelery that I put in there matter though? The piece I bought was $30 and it was steel.I couldn't keep it in b/c the hole had gotten smaller and I found that it was easier to hook it.So I put another one in that I had bought, it was only $10.I am thinking it isn't as good b/c it is not steel. But the hole seems to be healed so does it matter if its a cheap thing I have in there for the time being? I would really like to find a white gold barbell but I can't find one.
Thanks,
Lori:)

Well, for me, it doesn't seem to matter. I have some fairly pricey pieces and some kind of junky ones, and I don't find any difference. The only thing I have problems with is barbell length. Sometimes the bar seems longer and then it doesn't sit properly, ends up sticking out at the top or bottom. You can also interchange balls. A lot of them screw on. I know Laura (Maximus) got a really beautiful white gold or platinum barbell but it was super expensive.

Thanks, this is exactly what I am talking about. Most of the barbells I have are to long and I find, when I am getting out of the shower is when I am most likely to hook it.
I don't want the expensive one for the look so much b/c no one is really going to see it but I would like to have a good one that I can leave in.There is one on the sears wesbsite, its $80 but is yellow gold. Not really what I am looking for.

Lori--make sure it's no larger than 16 mm.

If you want to see some really nice & reasonably priced pieces, go to www.rings4piercings.com (this is not where I got my gonzo white gold/diamond piece, but they do have a wide variety of good quality jewelry at decent prices).

If you decide to order something, call instead of ordering on line, ask for Ian, & tell him Laura in NJ referred you. He'll talk your ear off but he'll probably give you a discount--lord knows the man has made a ton of money off me.

Thanks so much! When I get home I will have a look at the website.I can't search the internet at work but I manage to sneak my way into this site.
Lori:)

Hey Lori, glad to hear everything is healing nicely!! Here is another site that has lots and lots to choose from, more importantly there barbell lengths come in all different sizes. I had a hard time finding bars to fit my piercing.....but they have so many sizes, you are bound to find something to fit. They are super fast with delivery time too!
The site is www.steelnavel.com Take care,
Donna
