Being sore and still working out?

Monday I started going to the gym. Haven't had a membership for 2 years and have been doing Cathe off and on at home. But I've not exercised in several months. I took the circuit class and I didn't go full blast in the class and I am so sore. Mainly my inner thighs. Last night I just walked on the treadmill for 35 mins for 1.5 miles. Didn't really get my heartrate up much but I wanted to do something. I wanted to go to the kickboxing class tonight but I'm debating if I should. In this class we actually use the bags (they're the floor ones that have water or sand in the base). What are your opinions?

I have found that unless you're bent-over-crippled-sore, it really does help to continue with your workouts as planned. I would go, too.

If you go, it will help to recycle that lactic acid that is causing your muscles to be sore.

Getting moving again will losen everything back up.

And don't forget to stretch!

I find when I have to ask the question "should I" that means I usually should just go -- but be sensible about how hard to push things.

When I really need a rest day, or am super sore, I feel more confident that I need rest.

So just echoing the advice you're getting....

Thanks guys. Today at work I'm making sure I get up from my desk periodically to stretch out because the longer I sit the worse it seems.

As you're finding out, SOME kind of movement is better than none to deal with soreness. But I wouldn't go all-out: maybe it's a good day for an upper-body workout, or yoga/stretching, or some moderate cardio?
