Beginning yoga

I am looking for a good begining yoga video so I can get my muscles to stretch more than I can now. I did Supersets and my hams are so tight and sore that I think I need some yoga.

Hi Leslie! You can try Rodney Yee's 20 min. yoga DVDs. You can find him at Gaiam.com. There are several ones depending on what your looking for. I think there's also David Swenson's Short Forms DVD. This has 3 different workouts. I believe he has his own website. HTH, Kathy:D

I got some terrific advice and recommendations on this forum--thanks everyone!

I recently got Ali Macgraw's Yoga Mind & Body. It's led by Erich Schiffman. My only complaint is that he talks very softly and sometimes the music drowns out his voice.

Another one I found that I just love for extended stretches and for feeling better is Stress Relief Yoga with Suzanne Deason--it's put out by Gaiam. This is designed to be very easy so that you can release all stress. It's a 20 minute practice, so it's just perfect for stretching. Plus, the DVD has a bonus Restorative Yoga practice using all these props to relax and renew--I didn't have all the props, but I used blankets and pillows and it felt WONDERFUL! I got it at Sears for around $10.

I'm loving Bryan Kest's Power Yoga series, but I haven't even made it past the first workout (Energize) yet. Power Yoga for Happiness by Eoin Finn hasn't come yet. Short Forms by David Swenson is on my wish list at Amazon.

I've kind of been alternating Power Yoga and regular Yoga--depending on what kind of other workout I'm going to do that day. But I have started doing it every day, and I've noticed a tremendous difference in how I feel. Plus, it's really helping me to lose the last pounds I'm trying to get off!
