Happy Valentine's Day!

Lori, I read your post from this a.m.- I had sugar last night, too!
There was a strawberry mousse inside a white/dark chocolate heart. Hello?? Of course I ate it. I actually have seen a difference in my midsection in the past week which has been my inspiration to get back on the wagon today.

Joy, yup, I DID do Imax yesterday, got interrupted at the break, went back to finish it and then did the first 3 sets again since it was a long break. You're right, much more fun.

Today may be a day off depending on how much I get done around the house.

Looks like everyone is out for the weekend but I'll be checking in here and there. Pinky, I can only imagine how busy things must be right now, not to mention what's coming...

Sabine, hope you got to Starbucks!

Hope you ALL have a wonderful VD-

Brenda

Hello everybody...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S to all of you! I'm checking in while I'm running the laundry in the washer and while the hubby's washing dishes downstairs. We woke up to a winter wonderland, and on the local news, all that anchors can talk about is the falling snow. It can get really cold out here in DFW, but snow and ice are a novelty.

I decided to rest yesterday -- trying to squeeze a workout in would only add more stress, so I let that go. I'm doing some cardio in an hour. I'll decide which later. This afternoon will be full of parties, so eating clean today might not be possible.

I'll try to check in tomorrow. Have a good one, ladies.

Pinky:)

Happy Heart Day everyone,

I got up and decided to do one of my 'light' workouts, the Firm's CardioSculpt from the first BSS. I was very good and kept my weight to 3, 5, and 8# so I wouldn't overdo it. It felt wonderful to workout and I had a great time even if it wasn't that much of a challenge for me.

I'm very swollen and am having a hard time opening my mouth very far so it's probably a good thing that I'm not huffing and puffing. I miss solid food and every commercial that comes on for food sends me into food fantasy land. I can't wait for this to be over.

One of my dearest friends is coming over for a bit today to spend time with me before heading out to do her Valentine's day thing with her fiancee. It's a little strange for me to think that last year at this time I was with someone I thought I would marry. Turns out the end of our relationship was the best thing and it's still a little wierd and lonely.

Anyway, enough boo hooing! Gotta get some housework done!

Hello everyone! I had written a post earlier, hit post but it didn't appear for some reason. Sabine told me about this wonderful support group and thought I'd pop in, introduce myself and say Hi! I'm just getting started with Cathe- Sabine helped me choose my first DVD (Timesaver) and all the equipment I needed. The past week has been like Christmas all over again- opening boxes with my new Troylites, both Steps and stability ball and Timesaver. I've been previewing the workout and following along on occasion without the step. I did put a folded towel on the floor to simulate the step. DH teases me about my not-so-great spatial skills. When we're on a driving trip and I'm the navigator I have to physically turn the map over and around so I know what direction we're going (OK, you guys can stop laughing now... :7).

I've been FIRM'ing for the last couple of years and it really helped me to firm and tone up. It seemed once I turned 40 I started to gain weight, esp around my mid-section. So I exercised more and watched what I ate and still nothing. Adding weights helped tremendously. I'm now ready to add Cathe into the mix- I still like the FIRM as they helped me out alot and will probably do a mixture of both. I loved Cathe's easy-going personality, her choreography and how challenging her workouts were. I want to lean out and I tend to put on muscle pretty easy. As I'm Asian-American (born in US) I'm bigger that most of my *counterparts* (size 6/8 compared to 2/3)- just isn't in MY genes... <S>

Sabine- I was sorry to hear of the heartache you experienced- I'm sending a hug straight to you. But I also feel that this means that there is someone better and more suited for you out there- that's how I met DH. My first husband turned out to be not such a great prize and I met DH who is my best friend and the love of my life. I wish the same for you, my friend... Hope you enjoyed your visit with your friend and take good care of yourself and hug your kitties...

We finished putting together the entertainment system for our spare bedroom which we converted into a workout room. It's all set up with the TV, DVD player and all my equipment and man, am I ever excited! DH knows how much working out means to me and he wants to make sure that I stay as healthy as possible so he worked hard this past week on the room. Whatta guy...

Went out tonight for a delicious dinner and am home watching movies with DH and our pets. It's a cold rainy night- perfect for being at home. Hope everyone is doing well and Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Elizabeth

Good morning everyone~

Welcome Elizabeth! Always great to have another "face" in the group.
I've found this helpful just to keep on track and to stay motivated (or a place to gripe when I don't). Your husband sounds wonderful to set up an excercise room for you - I'd be in heaven if I had a space for my ever expanding workout stuff.

Sabine, ok, not to sound like your mother, but should you be working out already? Please don't do too much although I know I'd be doing the same thing. I've suddenly become 75 years old, but I'm a true believer in karma, fate and a lid for every pot. I can't believe that you won't run into the perfect match on your walk to Starbucks one of these days! ANYWAY...

Pinky, thinking about you today and sending positive thoughts your way!!

Lori, I was good all day yesterday until when we got back from dinner- there was leftover ice cream cake from one of my nieces birthdays and it was incredible. Today is another day and there are no chocolates in the house (the kids got many pops, they've eaten the chocolate already). How did you do?

I'm going to try to get a workout in today- still SO MUCH TO DO- where does the day go?

Lori S, Shywolf, Tracy & Joy~ hope you're having a good weekend so far.:)

Brenda

Thank-you for the warm welcome, Brenda! It's rare to find such a wonderful support online group and I appreciate that. I agree with you- I, too am a believer in Karma and that Sabine will meet the person she should be with- you put good out, it comes back to you tenfold... And yes, I am fortunate to have such a terrific DH!:)

I've not read many of the posts to this thread but to those who are going through trying times at this moment, I wish you all the best and the strength to get through it.

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Happy Sunday everyone,

Welcome Elizabeth! So glad that you decided to join our check in. I echo everything that Brenda has said regarding the benefits of participating in a check in. She and the other women are just the best!

Your husband does sound like a gem for giving you a special space to workout and helping you get it ready. And with the new fitness toys it just makes it that much better. I also incorporate the Firm with my Cathe workouts (and throw in lots of other instructors too) although having done a majority of Cathe workouts for several months now the Firm is not as intense to me as it once was. Although I don't think much compares to Susan Harris in Volume 1. Was she insane or what?!?!!

Brenda, thanks for expressing your caring and concern. I did check with my Dr. before leaving on Thursday regarding working out. She said definitely not on Friday (which I took as a rest day). After that, she wanted me to 'not overdo it' and 'to do what felt comfortable' and to 'rest whenever I felt I needed to'. That's why I chose the Firm and kept the weight light yesterday and today I did Kathy Smith's Timesaver Cardio Fat Burner and kept it low impact. These are 'light' workouts for me that have made me feel wonderful. There's a lot to be said about the natural endorphins exercise releases. It has made me feel better. And I promise not to overdue it!

Spent yesterday night with Johnny Depp. My good friend gave me my birthday present early, Pirates of Caribbean. Man! Does he look hot in that movie! WOW!!!!!!

Lorihart, you've been having some amazing workouts and you need to incorporate rest days or you run the risk of burning out. Be kind to yourself and enjoy your well earned rest days!

Hi's to Lorisax, Tracy, Pinky, Joy, and Shywolf. Is Stacy MN still around?

Happy Sunday everyone! Checkin' in to see how you all are doing. Great to meet someone new.

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to this thread/group/fitness fanatic society.:) I feel your vibes already. I'm Asian myself. I wrote a bit about my lineage in the "10 Things You Don't Know About..." thread, but allow me to repeat it here. I'm part Chinese from my father's side, part Spanish from my mom's side although her maiden name is French. I was born in and grew up on the island of Cebu (in the Philippines). I live in a Dallas suburb. Most of the Hispanics I meet think I'm from Puerto Rico or Mexico. Most whites think I'm Hawaiian. Asians think I'm from where they came, be it Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Malaysia... Anyway, enjoy your new "toys". Cathe is a wonderful motivator, and so are the ladies on this thread.

Sabine, I'm glad to know you're recovering fast. Hey, I also love Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean (I've LOVED him since 21 Jumpstreet) although I think all that eyeliner they put on him made him look like a drag queen.:) He just cracked me up in that movie. I also loved the special effects. I'm always a sucker for special effects...

Brenda, thanks for the positive thoughts. I do need them bad.:) I talked to my husband two days ago. Told him I am not going to play babysitter. Also told him that I do expect criticism like last time. Maybe I'd fail to say "Good morning" like a nice geisha girl. Dammit, I don't even say that to my own mother when she visits. Maybe I'd wear a shirt in a color offensive to them. Maybe I'd sit in front of the computer too long. Maybe I'd speak my mind too much. I told him I am not bending over for people who are disrespectful of the way I quietly live my life under MY OWN ROOF. He was very silent for a while. Then he told me to "not worry about it". I'm not. I'm prepared. The baseball bat is where it should be. So are the voodoo dolls.}( So are my fists. No more nice girl as prescribed and required by tradition and culture. These Rykas are kicking a**, baby!

Hellos to Joy, Lorihart, Lorisax, Tracy and Stacy. Hope you guys are having a weekend more romantic than mine.:)

Hello to everyone! It feels like so long since I've been here to check in. My in-laws finally left (after 2 full weeks)!! My husband and FIL had been doing a major basement renovation, in my workout space, which made it impossible for me to workout for the 2 weeks they were here. I went downstairs this morning, after they left, and literally burst into tears when I saw the mess. Like typical men, they didn't bother to clean up after themselves, there was about 2 inches of dust and debris everywhere. It took me about 4 hours to uncover and clean all of my equipment (I still haven't found my barbell!) but everything is now set up and tomorrow is my big day!! I can't decide what workout I want to do - maybe Bootcamp because I love it so much, but I was thinking that KPC or Cardio Kicks might be in order- I could visualize my FIL and MIL and my punches would be VERY intense!! I missed everyone and hearing about how you are all doing. Can't wait to catch up on what's going on...
Tracy

Hello Pinky! Thanks for the welcome!:) I'm Chinese from both sides and I can definitely relate to how other Asians think you're one of them (don't mean to make them sound like aliens... <S>). I've been told I look Korean, Japanese, Phillipina and mixed-race at times. It's just too funny! One time a Japanese woman came up to me, handed me her card and invited me to join their Japanese wives' group and when I told her I wasn't Japanese, she smiled at me and reached over and took her card back! (ouch!)<s> DH and I had a good laugh about that as we left the cafe... And Pinky, I'm not exactly sure of what you're going through at this moment but from what I read here, I say *You GO GIRL!*... You live your life on YOUR terms and the heck with those who think/believe otherwise. I've been there, too...

Just finished watching Sex and the City- love that show. Also reminds me of my youth (gosh, did I really say, my youth?...) in NYC. There's such an energy there, so much to do and the FOOD!... but after about a week's visit or so I'm more than ready to come home.

Tomorrow is my first day doing Cathe and truth be told I'm a bit nervous (and excited, too) but I know that everytime you shake up your routine it can be a bit disconcerting. So wish me luck everyone and I'll report in and let ya' know how it went.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcomes and encouragement- it means alot to me! Take care all!

Elizabeth
