Beat the Winter Blues 2/6

Good morning everyone-

I'm feeling rather motivated (maybe from reading your posts Lori!- do you take a day off?) so I may do MIC and Power Hour if I have the time today. I haven't showered yet and there's ANOTHER snow day today so I've got no where to go (like Richard Gere).

I think I'm going to stick w/eating something lite before every workout- I figure having more energy from food would out weigh any fat burning if I can't get through the entire workout w/out food.

I'll be here through the weekend Sabine so let's post. I'm hoping to workout Sat & Sun although plans may change.

Sabine, also, I read something about the importance of stretching your wrists/forearms/hands before a weighted workout. I never thought about it before but it makes sense. Are you still having troubles?

I'll be posting in and out all day- have to pay bills today. x(

Hope all of you have a great day planned!!

(Tracy, how's your daughter doing?)

Brenda

Hey everyone- I haven't been around much this week since the in-laws are still here and my workout space has been destroyed. I am feeling lazy and restless. Brenda- thanks for asking about my daughter- she is doing well. It is amazing how quickly kids adapt to things - she is running and carrying on as though nothing is different. We also have an "ice day" here so my oldest is home from school. I have one more week until my guests are gone and my life can return to normal. Hope everyone is doing well.
Tracy

Hi everyone,

Today will be lower body for me. Something light. Maybe just a part of L&G then some cardio. I'll figure it out later.

Brenda, maybe I should stretch my wrists and forearms before doing tricep dips and barbell curls. Yesterday, I really felt it in my wrists. Also, yesterday was a bad day for me weight-wise. I don't know why, but the strength wasn't there. I normally do 2 sets of 10 barbell curls with a 35-lb. BB. Yesterday, reaching 8 reps per set was a stretch (no pun intended). And I had to lower to 5's for tricep french presses. I always do them with 8's.

This week's stress has gotten into me. Add to that the future stress I'm anticipating with having to accommodate strangers in my home. Tracy, hang in there. I hope they clean up the mess they made, so you can resume your workouts right away. I'm next.:) I don't know how I'll make it through 6 weeks. I'm not one who can hide how I feel. That's why I don't play poker.:)

Hellos to Sabine, Lorihart, Lorisax, ShyWolf, Stacy-MN. Hope you ladies are doing well today. I may be working out this weekend, so I most probably will be checking in too.

Pinky

Hello Everyone.

I just finished Circuit Max and I'm spent since I overdid yesterday's KPC I went into todays workout feeling a bit of a baby DOMs. I guess I get so into KPC that the day after I sure feel it.

Towards the end of Circuit Max it was all I could do to just keep up my energy level. I ate lite before working out today. I think keeping something lite in my stomach helps. I had been feeling too full even waiting 30 minutes before working out. I need to have something before working out because if not I seriously hamper my w/o and feel as if I'll pass out.

Brenda enjoy your snowday ...I'm glad we are passed ours but we are expecting a nice downpour soon, wind has picked up and it's getting dark.

Tonite the hubby and I will start laying the tile in the kitchen so that and the cleanup will keep me busy this weekend. Body Max is scheduled for Monday...by then I should be rested.

Tracy - just try to get these days as rest days until your in laws leave next week...I always say company past 3 days is like old fish , they start to smell real bad and you just can't wait to get rid of it. Our company is expected next weekend...ugh!

Pinky - did I read this right? Your company is staying for 6 weeks?! OMGawd! I think they should just get a hotel room if that's the case ...goodness...that's just too long. Don't hide how you feel maybe that'll make them leave sooner }(

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hello all,
First - back to this eating before a workout thing...
I tend to eat a heavy dinner - like 1/3 to 1/2 of my calories for the day. So maybe when I get up in the morning I still have a lot of fuel. I know if I have a day when I miss dinner or have something really light, I'll wake up less energetic. Conversely, if I have too heavy of a meal the night before, I wake up feeling well, slow is the best word I can think of.

I do like Step Blast. I picked up combo's one and two fairly quickly - but 3 gave me fits. I had a couple of special sessions with combo 3. I realized that for me it was because Cathe taught some of the moves slightly different then they are used in the finished product. - the two triples around the board then over and squat and the fast foot repeater in particular.

The suggestion about stretching the hands before weight work is an excellent one. I definately am going to start that discipline.

LoriS you make me SOOO curious about slim series, but I refuse to deal with beachbody...

LoriH you must have some cardio capacity. You and Brenda talking about boot camp makes me think I need to try this one again. I must not have enjoyed to too much...I don't find myself reaching for it. Do you two do the workout straight through or do you do all the abs at the end? (I only ever did it as is)

Sabine I'm in total agreement about Christi hi/lo v Cathe hi/lo. Also, I actually find with Christi that I am keeping my abs tight so I can change direction quickly(all those turns) Yes I preordered humble beginnings. I'm also planning on ordering the trio dvd: hi/lo happy hour, sbf, and stepping zone.

Brenda, MIC and PH in one day? Whoa is all I can say.

Tracy, hope you're holding up okay! Glad to hear your daughter had adapted. Children really are amazing.

Pinky you commented that you normally do 2 sets of bi curls w/35# (PS series - right?) Do you do all of the negative curls with 35# too? Those things kill me. I did the PS/BBA today and I made it through the first set of negatives (barely) with 35 but had to drop to 30 for the second set.

Oh yea, this morning I had my version of a marathon workout - I started with a KPC pre-mix, its the first one, referred to as cardio 37" It is the beginning of the workout through the first 32" (that is the no impact hi intensity hammer lunges) and then skips to the strecht. then I followed that with chest work from CTX then the entire PS/BBA (skip the warm up - I was certainly warm)

Shywolf, I thought of you during KPC premix. Did you (will you) do Circuit Max today?

Hi to Stacy-MN.
Hope I remembered everyone.
-joy

Tomorrow is legs - probably PLB or maybe L&G

Boy am I tired today! I'm dragging in the worst way this morning. My alarm went off at its' usual time and there was no way I could get out of bed. I'm hoping that I'll perk up a bit later in the day so that I can do S & H Bi's and Tri's. If not, today becomes a rest day.

Brenda, my wrists are getting better although my left one (I'm left handed) is more sore than the right. I've been using my 5# as handles for both push ups and tricep dips (I set them on the edge of my coffee table and use that for the exercise) and I find that makes a big difference. I think I may try to incorporate some more stretches and such prior to videos that have exercises that will place stress on the wrist. Thanks for the suggestion!

Tracy- glad to hear that your daughter is doing so well and adapting to her 'magic' cast!

Pinky- 6 weeks with company that you can't stand?!?!? You poor thing!!! Do not accept an unpleasantness and meanness from them and remember you have friends here to support you through the difficult phases.

Shywolf- good to hear that things with the floors are getting on the mend. How cool that you and your husband have such handy skills to lay tile by yourselves. I would be intimidated as all get out.

Joy- Can you give me some of your insight or comments about the workouts that make up the Terrific Trio. I haven't ever heard much about them and am wondering if I should order these when they get released or just wait and play with what I currently have.

Hello to Lorihart (aka workout/running goddess :) ), Lorisax (who is at her Rally) and Stacy MN (come on back and join us). I think that's everyone.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi again,
Shywolf, it looks like you posted while I was typing my epistle...So you did manage CM good for you. Good luck with BodyMax - that to me is THE TOUGHEST WORKOUT..

Sabine, About the workouts on Christies Humble beginnings..I cannot comment on the step routines - I've not learned them. Of the hi/lo's I have the 9801 (it was called double impact) and the one from the 7000 series. I've never seen the one from the 5000 series, which I'm guessing is Christi's first. I REALLY like 9801. I think it is the most complex of her hi/lo's and I've tried all but 5000. I think it is the most fun too. I've been wanting to do it, but I'm holding out for the dvd. I'd say the closest comparison would be hi/lo heaven. The 7000 is pretty fun but has some weak points - like I noticed she did many more reps of a move on the right then on the left. Also I had the feeling that she ran out of time near the end because it seemed like the last combos didn't get as much instruction as the first ones. Also, in a lot of cases with Christie I feel like once you learn her workouts, they flow and become more intuitive. However, I thought the 7000 was counterintuitive in some parts (I think Christi may even say that at one point.)

I do have an offer for you. Once I get the DVD and know it is okay, I can lend you 9801 and the 7000 if you like. That way you can see for yourself what they are like.

Six weeks? I must have missed that it was that long- I couldn't stand ANYONE for 6 weeks... when are they arriving?

Joy, try BootCamp again! I find its really great when I feel like I need a little bit of everything (abs/legs/cardio/arms) in one workout and it seems to go really quickly. I do it strait through and then usually follow it w/a few more reps of shoulders and back if I have time.
I love the abs in BC- especially the planks. I hate doing them but they seem to work the obliques very nicely.

Pinky, once again, 6 weeks? Why are they staying that long? I just can't imagine.

Sabine, I felt you this a.m.- once I found out school was canceled I could not drag myself out of bed until it was absolutely necessary! I'm looking forward to going back to sleep tonight. (that's never a good sign)

Still waiting for my window to workout- my right leg (hip/thigh) feels big which is always the sign that I need to do more cardio and stop eating. It may be in my head, but I always feel like this spot on my body is "telling" me to get moving.

Hi Shywolf, LoriSax, LoriHart, Stacy-MN, Tracy...

Hi everyone,
I think today is going to be a rest day.Or maybe not.We will see how the evening goes.
When I did Bootcamp yesterday I did all of it plus a 70 min run(I can't remember who asked that:) )You should try reaching for it again.I love that workout.I also love Circuit MAx which a loaned out to a friend and I haven't done it in ages!:( I think I will get that one back this weekend. That would also be a good one to do my running with.
If I take today off i think tomorrow is going to be a LLLLLLLLLLLLLong run day!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Lori:)

Nope no rest day.We had planned on going for a ski-doo ride(that I wasn't fussy about to begin with)Its just so cold here.I had a nap instead and I ate way to many choc valentine hearts.I lost count....so I had to workout.I was feeling sick from all that sugar and I knew that if I sat around I was just going to be bored and feel guilty.
So I did a 70 min run and the circuit part of Body Max.Once again I didn't get my ab work in b/c I was to sweaty by the time I finishedx(
I will be around this weekend also so I am up for the weekend edition.
Brenda-I do take days off.Its normally in the middle of the week but I wasn't that busy this week.I probably won't get a day off yet until Thursday b/c DH is going away on Sunday morning. And when he is gone I can't sit and do nothing. When I put my little girl to bed I have to workout or I will get lonely:-( ;(
Anyway, hope everyone had a good day.Chat to you later,
Lori:)
