Good Morning Everyone,
I hope you don't mind me starting.I got up at 6 in order to fit my workout in for the day.I was going to post on yesterdays tread but I figured what the heck,I will start todays.Atleast that gives us all day to fiddle with this one:)
Well,I went to workout yesterday and I managed to do bic and shou, but that was it.I got on the treadmill, took a couple of steps and decided I didn't want to workout tonight. But I promised myself that I would get up early today and workout. And here I am! I had a nap last night, then I went to bed at 11,so I think I had enough sleep.
I don't think I am going to get on the scale anymore. Its a little depressing somedays and I know its not possible to gain a pound in one day but still, when you see a number you don't want to see its like your efforts are gone down the drain.
Did you see Opray last week when the models were on there? Two of them said they never get on the scale and the other one said that she gets on every morning and if she is up one pound she puts on the tightest pair of jeans she has and lets her roll hangout over so she is uncomfortable all day.I thought she may have been a little twisted and she was the tinest of the group.
I am really considering BFL again.I have never finished the challenge yet but I had good results when I actually followed it.The only problem with me is early morning workouts. When I work early mornings I can't get up at 4 to workout.Prehaps on those days I could put a longer run in or something.
I have tri work and a run planned for this a.m. The last time I got up early and ran,it was one of the better runs that I have had.Im only going to give myself an hour to workout.
I also have two babyshowers in the next two days but eating shouldn't be to bad.I find that when I am at gatherings like that I don't eat as much as if I were home. You can't stand at the table poking stuff in your mouth all night long.;-)
Anyhoo....how is everyone elses day going? I hope everyone as a good workout:)
Lori

Hi everyone, I am still alive. I have just been very busy. I hope everyone is ok. Working out is going good, and so is eating. Take care.
Lori

Hi everyone;
Well I have to wait awhile before working out as I HAD to eat something this morning. I don't think I would be able to finish a kicka$$ Cathe workout if I didn't feed this body this am.
I have found that I do so much better workout wise and my stomach does not bother me when I workout on an empty stomach but with that said I need to listen to my body and this morning this body did not want to workout until I ate something. LOL

So I think I'll wait for another hour or so then I'm doing SJP.

Lori I did body for life and completed 2 challenges ..although I grew muscle and lowered my bodyfat % I ended up looking the same if not bulkier. My mind and body just didn't jive with it. Although I ate as prescribed that free day threw a big wrench in my overall apperrance . I have done 180º better following the Weight Watchers Flex Plan with Cathe's workouts. I have seen BIG improvements in my apperance, lost weight (which was what I wanted)and have a better , healthier way of how to eat. Funny how our bodies react differently to different things, wonderful I think because what doesn't work for one person can and will often work for someone else.
Good Luch with BFL if you do it again :)

Good morning all,
First business.
I did Strength, Balance and Flexibility today (Christie Taylor) I felt the need for something different. I really concentrated and I got it this time. It is harder than it seems, when you pay attention and give it your all. I used 5# dumbbells throughout and this felt right except for some glute raises and chest flyes and I believe 8's would have been better.

Now comments on everything.
First, yes Lisa, I find it annoying that you can't read the entire thread while you are posting - only the one you are replying too. I also find it annoying that the reply is put under the post you responded to and not at the end (chronologically). Now my solution to the first gripe is that I copy and paste the entire thread to a word document (which I do not save) and click back and forth so I can read who said what. The other method I will use is open a separate session on the internet and go to cathe.com and call up the post i'm responding to. Now understand I am a computer idiot. All my software and internet connections are provided by my workplace. I believe I have the cheesedeluxeburger version - lots of software, tons of memory and very fast internet connection. So I have the luxury of doing these tricks.

Now about the bi's. I have actually strengthened my bi's - they used to be puny. How I did it was through a slow & heavy rotation. I did the workouts as is, alternating days with cardio. I did NOT try to increase my weights on any body part BUT bi's. I have maintained this pretty well. I believe it is harder to build then maintain. And Tracy, I agree with the 3 x through assessment. In fact, its funny but I believe this was the 3rd time I've done strength balance & flexibility but the first time I 'got' it. That happened to me with step jump & pump. This makes me think I'll have to try the timesavers again. Maybe after my March plans.

Shywolf, I dont mind if my dh is in the house when I workout - just DON'T INTERUPT ME! (he pretty well knows that) However, anyone else and forget it.

Lori, your food comments could have been written by me. And the part about stressing over gaining 5# AND the part of not being happy heavier. It takes SO MUCH energy to be so focused on food all the time. Just preparing food for work and forget going on a trip, geez, ya can't pack your whole fridge.

And Brenda, your body image concerns are mine as well. My WHOLE life. I too enjoy working out for the sake of working out, so I'm lucky there. I just wish intake wasn't such a big part of the equation... I mean why CAN'T ya build muscle eating twinkies and snickers?

Oh and yes, if I'm not really really careful doing chest, my shoulders get sore. I have to concentrate on my back being flat and not hunching my shoulders. I have to also be sure I don't go too deep on flyes, and really keep my mind on my chest muscles.

LoriH- sounds like a really good workout this am.

Hi LoriS - nice to hear from you.

Hello Elizabeth - hope you are having a good day.

Sabine we are all waiting to hear about your DINNER last NIGHT
:9

Boy I better hurry up and post or my session is going to expire - seems like I had a lot to say today.

Hi everyone, it is a crappy gray day here in Dallas today as it was yesterday. Spring must be coming. I am starting to be plagued by sinus pressure and headaches.

Today is S&H bi/tri. Yesterday was S&H c/b. I expected to be very sore from the chest work but all I have is a nice, mild sore today. I feel it more in my lats, though. My back must be pretty strong because I did 2 sets of pullovers using a 20 and all sets of deadlifts using a 35-lb. BB -- heavier than usual. What bewilders me though is how I'm lifting more in PS-chest but I'm using lower weight for flyes in S&H-chest.

Regarding not being able to respond to everything that's been said or remember everyone's post, this is what I do:
I open a new window and put it to one side of my screen. This allows me to toggle between everyone's posts and the message I am about to post. This way, I only have two windows to deal with and not have the extra trouble of opening a separate software. To make sure I don't lose my post, I do a ctrl+A to select my entire message, then ctrl+C to copy it. If my post doesn't get through I simply re-reply then paste what I've copied in the message box. Hope this helps some.

All this talk about what eating plan works for one and not for another hits me well today since I haven't been eating as cleanly as I wished since being told to rest my legs for a week by my doctor. So far the Zone way of eating has served me well. But it is impossible to do it perfectly all the time. Yes Joy, why can't we build muscle eating the good stuff? :)

Hellos to everyone out there. If it's a gray day where you live, stay warm...

I just completed Step, Jump & Pump and it goes so smoothly for me . Those static lunges with the barbell at 25 #'s really burn my calves I end up having to stretch real good before I continue on and I just love the part in the last cardio section with the duba duba song ( hop & turn) it's just so much fun! I'm still having a hard time doing those planks in that section and end up modifying.

As far as responding to the thread; sometimes when I have a decent time to sit and think or if I have any comments I open up a different window and respond that way.

Joy; I guess if my hubby wouldn't bug me when I workout I don't think I would mind. It's just that sometimes when I'm in a position that gets his testosterone level up well he just plain distracts me. Sometimes he'll leave me alone but when he's playful ...UGH! I love the attention though , I don't mean to complain ..heh after nearly 20 yrs together I'm just glad he still gets lovey dovey with me; just not when I'm exercising. LOL I do workout when my kids are home from school. They all know that when I'm working out only dire emergencies should they bother me and that means loss of limbs or blood flowing. My 5 year old still bugs me on occasion but since I've been working out since she was a baby she is understanding more and more that mommy gets cranky if she gets interrupted.

Pinky:
Sorry to hear that allergy season is getting to you. Yup it's getting here too (NC) and we all are taking our meds to prevent full blown attacks.

Sabine: What did you finally chose as your 1st meal of solids ...we all want to know :7

Funny how I always tell me hubby 'Why is it all the stuff that tastes soooo good is just sooo bad for you?' As a Taurean, I love to indulge in yummy foods but for the sake of keeping fit and healthy, I have to plan and ask myself if that _____ (fill in the space) is really worth it?

Well see you all later and have a great day!:)

Hello everyone!

It's a gorgeous sunny day here today- if it's not where you are, hope it clears up and becomes sunny soon. As a matter of fact, a storm system is moving our way so I'm going to enjoy this sun as much as I can because it ain't gonna last long!;)

Did TS 3 today- still working on the pikes/planks on the stability ball- did 4 of them today (they don't look like Cathe's or her crew's but at least I straightened my legs out and my butt was in the air...:7 ). Ahh..., a work in progress, huh?

Sabine- how was your Birthday meal? Scrumptious I bet! Here's to you gaining more strength with each passing day.

Pinky- sorry about your allergies. I don't have them but my brother does and I remember how miserable he was at times. I heard your weather system is moving our way so you should get some nice sunny days soon. Take care sweetie!

Lori- glad you were able to work out. Sometimes your body just isn't up for one so it was good you listened to it, got some rest and was rarin' to go this morning! I just shook my head when I read about that model you described who wore the really tight pants when the scale went up. I guess if that works for her, OK- just not for me. I'd rather be comfortable, ya' know what I mean?:p

Shywolf- I think you're right. Not every eating/fitness plan works for everyone. Glad you found WW and it and Cathe's done your body good!:)
I found a book (didn't buy it- just browsed through) called *Escape Your Shape* and DH and I determined that I'm an hourglass (a bit more *sand* than when I was in my twenties but hey, that's OK...) and he listed exercises to avoid- namely, weights, step... does all this sound familiar? I've been doing the FIRM for a few years and it really helped to define and shape me even more. So while I don't believe this plan would work for me (I found Cathe and I'm NOT leaving!) it may work for others. Sorry to be so wordy here... :)

Lisa- thanks so much for your words of encouragement and support yesterday. It meant so much to me. It's funny- I always want to be there for my friends and family but it was hard for me to tell them MY problems. My family dynamics growing up *dictated* you never unload on others*. But it wasn't working for me and I realized I was being unfair to those I love because I wasn't giving them the opportunity to help me in return. I guess we do get wiser with age!

Joy- I always enjoy your posts- very informative and motivating. I'm learning alot from you, so thanks!

Tracy- hope you and DH found some great info to help you. I know the two of you will make the best decision for your family.

Well, gotta run. Have to pick up one of my kitties at the vets. I think he has a UTI (he had surgery about a year ago because he was getting urinary blockages) and they kept him to get a sample. When DH called this AM the tech told him that *Kai was being stubborn and wouldn't pee*- Kai stubborn- no way, not MY kitty!...:p

Hellos to Lorisax!

Elizabeth

Hi everyone,

HOW I LOVE SOLID FOOD!!! For my birthday and first official back from soft food meal I opted for a lovely garden salad with cucumber and red pepper sprinkled with some feta cheese and ravioli! So Italian won out. It was delicious!

Took yesterday off as a rest day. Had to be at work exceptionally early today so didn't get a chance to work out this morning. Will try to do a step workout after I get home from my hair appointment but before dinner. Have leftover ravioli to look forward to.

If I had it my way, I could be slender and gain strength eating Frosted Flakes, cheeseburgers, Twix candy bars, and Haagen Daz. Not that I mind being good about eating most of the time. It's just so much more fun to be bad }( .

I hear everyone on the body image issues. Sometimes it seems daunting that fitness is a journey that doesn't really end. Other times I'm glad that it's something I can always have and access. I figure I am so much better off exercising. It gives me freedom to indulge when I really want to and it doesn't spell doom and gloom and self loathing.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and thanks to all of you for your encouragement during my recovery. It made a world of difference and was so appreciated!
