Beat the Winter Blues 2/23

Cathlete
Hey everyone,

I still have my cold and since it's back to the grind today, I think I'm just going to lay off the workout. Yesterday I did do yoga, but decided Yoga Strength was too much. I did Yoga Zone's Conditioning and Stress Release, about 55 minutes. I have done that in ages. It was perfect for how I felt. I also did an ab section of a Method DVD.

Lori, Pinky and Sabine, thanks for your stories! Sabine, I learned a valuable lesson by going through the process of gaining and losing weight. I had never had a problem with my asthma before stopping exercise and gaining weight. I had significant problems with it during the years I didn't exercise, and often assumed that exercise would make it worse. When I finally got back into the groove, and my asthma improved quickly and dramatically, I realized that exercise is the key. I love that my body looks so much better now, but what's going to keep me going is that I know the difference exercise makes in my health.

I hope you all have a great day!

Hello ladies, I wanted to start a S&H rotation today but my back is still a teeny bit sore from last Saturday's PUB, so I might probably just do a tough abs workout (as long as I can take it) and some yoga.

Lisa, two months ago I was diagnosed with allergy-induced asthma. It started with a tightness in my chest that, to me, felt like it was heart-related. But after a battery of tests, it turned out to be lung-related. Asthma runs in my family, and because I never had it growing up I assumed I'd never have it. Anyway, I have an inhaler I use rarely, and I believe it's exercise that keeps me symptom-free most of the year.

Sabine, I hope you're getting better and better.:)

Hellos to Brenda, Lorihart, Elizabeth, ShyWolf, Lorisax, Tracy and Stacy-MN (you still out there?)...

Hi all,

I had a horrible time with MIS this morning. I totally died!!!! I did manage to gut it out yet I am disappointed with how I totally fell apart. The soft diet is really taking it's toll. I'm so tired today! ONE MORE DAY!!!!!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Gotta run and get some work done. May check in later.

Hi Ladies,
I was gonna say good morning.Just b/c I am lazy doesn't mean that it is still morning.!x(
I did Chest and Back again today.I wanted to do cardio after but I was to lazy and I was getting hungry. So I planned it for later this afternoon but I just keep getting lazier.I am sure it as nothing to do with the fact that I have been sat down all morning.I feel like going and getting another coffee.
I am doing CTX and PUB for the next 3 weeks.(I did them last week)I am breaking it up into 3 workouts(rotation).I have to say that I think CTX upper body is one of the hardest workouts.I have never done that one yet, where I haven't been sore the next day.I went heavier then Cathe on all of the weights. My chest was shaking so much! But there is nothing worse then doing a workout and feeling nothing.Inner thighs are still sore from Saturdays workout!
So,I think I am going to get off of my lazy butt and workout now.I need to get moving ,thenI will feel energized.
Anyhoo,I will check back later.
Lori:)

Good Afternoon ladies!

Circuit Max was done this am and I'm still trying to decide a rotation for March . I have the S&H dvd and have not even taken it out of the cellophane yet ...since August or September I think.

I honestly can't stand it when I have a workout that has not been used not even once ...it's S&H dvd, push pull dvd and Step works vhs that I've had sitting on my shelf, never used ...yet!

I want to incorporate these in a rotation or do them by spring break. I want to focus on weight loss.

I don't think I want to do the S&H in their entirity but break them up by muscle groups including some cardio on the same day. Any ideas?
I'm still sorta waiting to see what Cathe herself posts for March rotation.

Tommorrow is an all cardio day ...how is Step Works compared to say ummm Rhythmic Step? That one I've only done twice and I did it this month, I am still having a hard time 2/3's into it...towards the 3rd combo I think.

So many Cathe workouts and only enough energy for 1 a day LOL.

Hellos to everyone and Sabine have you decided on what you will have as your 1st solid food since your surgery?

Well have to do the laundry will catch up with you all later.

Hello everybody,
Well I did some catch up reading from the weekend check-in. Yep Saturday was the PO'd at husband day.

Sabine, I can't tell you how many times I wished I was single. I definately have some personality flaw that makes me need someone to feel worthwhile. I have one daughter who inherited that flaw and one who seems not to.

Lisa, I won't even go in to the saga of my ups and downs with weight. Right now I'm up and it is VERY depressing. I'm not my highest - far from it, but oh man. I do realize that one's weight is (by and large) a very temporary condition. I am in pretty good shape, especially considering my age.

I'm an asthmatic also. Exercise helps but the right medicine is definately what made the difference in my life. I developed asthma at the ripe old age of 25 - I got really run down (thin, drank to much, smoked too much, slept too little) and had moved to an area with brand new pollens, molds and such. Bam. Crashed. Could hardly walk 10 ft without gasping for air.

LoriH, you are anything BUT lazy.
Sabine, my sympathies. It is soo awful to have no energy. Hopefully this will be over soon.

Hello Tracy, LoriS, Brenda and Elizabeth.

This morning was PLB + IMAX2 1-5 premix. I'm finishing up a one week Cathe Intensity series rotation. The last day is tomorrow with PUB.

I think I will try to do some stretch and easy does it until March 1 and then I am ready for Sabine's "Get Ready for the Beach" rotation. (I was at the beach yesterday for 3 hours - it was grand. what I definately need to work on is a bikini wax LOL)

Hello everyone! Did T1 today- I think I'm going to stick with the Timesaver rotation for a few weeks to get acclimated to Cathe's style and intensity level:) .I bought her CTX along with the presale so as to take advantage of the free shipping, figuring I will be using it in the near future. I also think that 5X a week and 2 days rest is good for me at this time.

Normally I don't reveal myself too much but because I feel I can trust all of you, I thought I would share with you what I have going on. I have two medical conditions- one is Thalassemia (a type of hereditary anemia) and Hypothyoidism. The Thal is predominant in Mediterranean bloodlines as well in South East Asians and originated as a prevention against Malaria. My red blood cells are very, very tiny and their life span is 1/5 of other's red blood cells. As a result, my endurance tends to be compromised and my hemotologist told me I would have to live with it and pace myself when exercising. This has been hard for me as I was used to pretty high intensity w/o's but as I've gotten older, my body has been telling me to slow it down a bit. I love Cathe's w/o's and I just adjust and modify when I need to.

I don't think I will be able to do Sabine's rotation at this time but would like to continue checking in with all of you. I enjoy reading all your posts and they help to keep me motivated, esp on days when I can feel very tired. Exercise is hard for me to do some days but I know that if I don't, the fatigue would only get worse. Thanks for listening to me. Some people don't understand as I don't look sickly. There may be times when I don't post, but I'm thinking about all of you. Take care all!:) and have a great day!

Elizabeth

Elizabeth,
OF COURSE keep checking in here. Oh heaven's you don't have to be working out to check in!! I'm sure we don't think this will be the Sabine rotation check-in. It can be the "do your own thing or nothing check-in" :) :)
-joy

Elizabeth,

I totally agree with Joy! Please feel free to do whatever you want whenever you want and continue to check in. The great thing about this check in is that everyone can be doing something different and it's no big deal. We're here to support one another through all of our trials and tribulations so that we keep going! And to support each other when we, for whatever reason, can't keep going.

The rotation I posted is just a suggestion. If some people are game to try, super. If it's not someone's cup of tea, super too!

Finally, a Sabine's rotation check in?!?!??! How embarassing!!!!!

ShyWolf, Step Works reminds me a bit of Step Blast where you do the whole thing then you do an interval blast (in Step Works, the blasts aren't as intense) then you do the whole cheoreography again.

Rhythmic Step is an entirely different step workout. Cathe hardly teaches in RS or breaks down the moves so you have to do a lot of rewinding.:)

Elizabeth, you don't have to follow any rotation. Even I wasn't able to follow the one I posted last month after we had illnesses one after another in the family last month. You don't have to do a workout to check in. Just check in and chat, have a good time...:)

Sabine, I would love to see your own check-in thread. I might have to tweak your lower body weeks, considering the state of my knees these days, but hey, I'll be your disciple.:7

TIs I again....
Joy-i was very lazy today.I was actually in a bad mood b/c I was so lazy! But I finally got my butt mov'in.I was thinking about trying to take a nap but I figured if I didn't fall asleep, then I would be just lazier.
Elizabeth-Stick around. You don't have to be doing a rotation to check in.I just started on last week.I also love to come and read what other people have done. Its very motivational.
Well,I fianlly got off of my mazy back side at 2:30.I wasn't quite sure about what I wanted to do so that made it all the more worse.I finally came up with something that made me interested.
So today I did chest and back(ctx and pub)At 2:30 I did the step part of S,J&P.I didn't do the Hi-Lo section, instead I did 4-15 min runs(60 min run). And I did the weight sections in between.I finally finished at 4:30.So,I may have been lazy at the beginning but I finally smartened up.Now I feel alot better and I am in a better mood.
I will check back again later,
Lori:)

Thanks Joy, Sabine, Pinky and Lori- I appreciate your words of support and encouragement!:) It was a hard post to write as I don't want to burden others with my challenges as I know that everyone had their own cross to bear, so to speak.

Sabine- didn't mean to embarass you, girl!:) Wasn't sure of the dynamics of the board so wanted to clarify. Sorry today was a tough day for you. And from what I've read, MIS is NOT an easy w/o so I think you did wonderfully! One more day and you can eat and get back to working out on your normal routine. Glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel for you! BTW, *HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!* Your sis got you some really neat presents- I would have loved them, too! Enjoy!

Joy- sorry you had a PO day with DH the other day- men can be SO frustrating sometimes, can't they? Hope it got better since then...
I know I don't like it when my weight fluctuates UP (it stinks!x( )- but I'm sure you keep in great shape and I think that's how our bodies operate sometimes- up a bit then down. Know you are a strong female who makes taking care of herself a priority...

Pinky- how's your knees? Are they feeling a little better? You know, I saw some Hot Yoga DVD's on overstock.com for $10+ change- thought I'd pass that along to you...

Lori- boy, when you workout, you WORKOUT!...:) Glad you did it and it made you feel great!

Have a good evening everyone! And hellos to shywolf, lisa and tracy!

Elizabeth

Sabine is this finally the day? Have a wonderful birthday!:)

Just checking in really quickly and had to read the weekend edition to catch up. No workout Fri-Sun which was such a mistake. Eating was bad and I had almost no water all weekend. Absolutely horrible.

Today was ANOTHER new start- did PH (was going to do MIS but I read your post Sabine and was feeling the dread in the air). Tomorrow is MIC or Imax 1 or 2.

In the back of my head all weekend was this thought "is this as good as it gets?" I was so pissed at myself for so many things and had that feeling that I'm going to have to work out and watch what I eat FOREVER. Anyone else ever feel this way? I'm actually not disappointed w/ what I look like but, I'm not sure~ just feeling a little down today.

Pinky, sounds like your company situation is going ok? (is that reaching??)

Joy, the waxing... ouch. Are you close to Sarasota? My oldest two are there right now w/ my dad and his wife in their condo. They said the weather has been great.

Elizabeth, as everyone has said, just post whatever... no structure, no committment. I love to hear what everyone is doing and often am inspired by everyone here.

Lori, how's the sugar? I'm back on again and hope to feel better tomorrow.

Hi to everyone else~ welcome Lisa~
