Beat the Winter Blues - 2/12

Hi ladies, yesterday I did IMAX 2. Today will be upper body endurance -- I'm thinking CTX-UB split. I don't think my knees can take any more pounding today, but if I have time I just might take a brisk walk around the neighborhood. Hope it doesn't rain. The weather out here lately has been so dull, gray, wet and hopelessly cold. I'll check in later today. I hope everyone's having a good one.

Greetings all,
Thought I'd do something fun this morning so Cardio & Weights was my choice. Who said that one was easy? Man those pilates style abs - forget it - I really cannot do any of them. I sure did enjoy the cardio and the weights portion.
Pinky I cannot remember where you live. I don't want to tell you how beautiful the weather is here..(course I'm stuck inside with no windows)

Thinking about Sabine and the dental ordeal - and sending good vibes.

Brenda - your frustration about PLB with the bb weight changes. I own more than one barbell so that helps some, and I also 'cheat' with some of the changes. I have lots of plates and for my troy lite bb I put 2 1/2 plates on either end outside of the clips. The length of the bb is enough that they are not in danger of slipping off and I'm very careful to lift the bar evenly. I will also use dumbbells (especially 2 x 15 for any 30 # sets.

Hey everyone,

Wanted to thank everyone for their positive thoughts for my surgery. I've been home for about 1/2 hour now and am feeling okay, still pretty numb and sore from holding my mouth open for nearly two hours! I've already taken some pain medication and am using ice to try to kick the swelling down, although the swelling has already started so I'm not sure how lucky I'll be in that department. I'm just hoping that I don't bruise horribly and people will think that I've been beat up or something!

Yesterday I got up at 4:10 am (I couldn't believe it) because I wanted to workout before heading to one of the middle schools in the district I work for to do tobacco education presentation. Did Push Pull because it was short. For me, I find this one harder than Supersets, although I wish this one had more ab work.

Today I got up so I could get a hard workout in before surgery. I chose Kick Punch and Crunch and had a great workout. This was my first time doing it the whole way through as previously I had only done the Timesaver version. I really like the ab work at the end of this one and managed all the roll in's and pikes without too much problem. If I had one wish it would be that I had higher kicks when I did workouts such as these. I'm lucky if I get my kicks horizontal to the floor. I WANT HIGH KICKS!

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm going to try to suck down a yogurt smoothie and then lie down for a while. I'll check back later.

HI All;
Today was Cardio & Weights for me as well; I'm beginning to really like this one...hits everything in 60 min. not bad and yup that ab section is killer.

Company is due to arrive early , early Saturday morning. Hubby and I decided to have our Valentine's Day on Friday night since our company will interfere with our romantic Ummm plans :)

Have had to deal with a sick kiddo and ended up at the doctor's office yesterday ...well I did not workout due to that, it seems like we were there all day and the last thing I felt like doing was sweating ;p

The kitchen is about done and this Monday the carpet guys will be installing the new carpet to replace the areas that got water damage.

Friday will be a pure cardio tape and I think I'll do one of the oldies but goodie for me Mega Step Blast or Step Heat :)

Sabine! I'm glad to know you're doing well and that you got a great workout in before your surgery to boot. Don't think about working out anymore, just rest, rest, REST!:) I'm sending you warm and cozy get well vibes.

Joy, I live in a Dallas suburb. It's an unbelievably beautiful day today, but I am not staying outside. It's horribly chilly. The water that gathered in my empty pots on the flowerbed have turned to ice. Yep, that kind of gorgeous day that lures you outside only to bite you in the a**.:eek:

ShyWolf, I envy you. My hubby and I don't have plans yet. There's a birthday party I have to take my son to on Hearts Day of all days, and a winter barbecue, of all things, that my friend decided to hold. So that about eats up Valentine's.:(

Good evening everyone~

Yesterday I did MIC and got to 10 minutes into the step segment and had to (gasp) stop! I was so frustrated but I don't think I ate enough or had enough water and my muscles wouldn't jump anymore. I did Firm's Super Body Sculpt to feel like I completed something although it still wasn't that great.

This a.m. I did BootCamp and was feeling a little more energy but it took a while before I could feel my cottage cheese/natural applesauce kicking in for energy. By the way Lori, this is a very good suppliment at night when the cravings are bad. I'll mix this together w/a little Splenda and a few nuts on the side for fat. Not bad - its not ice cream, but not bad.

My stomach seems to be growling all the time lately- it can't possible be the sugar, can it? I've been eating every 3-4 hours.

Tomorrow I'll do Imax2 since I have something I have to go to tomorrow night that I'm wearing a strapless gown to- I've been so worried my arms would be bulky so I've tried to keep the weights a little lower than usual and won't do any tomorrow. Any other suggestions for a last minute fix???

Sabine- so glad you're home and can just relax and get better now!
Please rest and try not to do too much.

Shywolf, hope you have a romantic evening planned tomorrow and congrats on completing your projects!

Pinky, take it easy on your knees... you don't want to suffer an injury that takes you to the sidelines longer than you need to be.
Hope your weather gets a little brighter soon. We're having the same gray days here and we're beginning to feel it.

Joy, I'm afraid my barbell would tip and dump my weights and I usually have someone standing around me when I'm doing these workouts. It's not the kind Cathe uses- I'm not sure what kind it is but its hard to adjust. Maybe I need to get some oil to put on the ends to slip the clips off faster. Frustrating. So you did like Push/Pull? I get that confused w/Supersets... Maybe Saturday I'll work on that one.

LoriH, hope your doing well on the no-sugar. I know, its hard. I thought it would be easier by now- I think my body is doing better but my brain is asking for chocolate.

Hi Ladies,
Just heading in for a nightly workout.I have been up since 6 and worked two jobs.Its 9 now.I don't have a clue what I am doing.I am just going to run on the treadmill for a while and see what I come up with.
My DH comes home tomorrow so I wanted to have the house nice and tidy so I wouldn't have to do it tomorrow evening when he is home.We are going away for the weekend so I like to have the house clean before I leave.I will see how much energy I have after my workout.
The sugar thing isn't going as bad as I thought.The first day was the worst.More of a habit then anything.
Anyway,I will report back after I do my workout.I hope everyone had a great day.
