Good morning~

Feeling a smidge better emotionally than yesterday-
Not sure what workout I'm going to do- maybe Power Hour or ME and the step section of MIC. Still searching for another cardio if anyone has suggestions...

Lori, let's do it. Maybe if I have some support (and throw all the sugar out) I'll be able to get over the sugar cold turkey. I've done it before but this time seems harder... once I get past the first few days I'm usually feeling better and can keep it up, its just getting over the hump which is difficult! Anyone else want to join in to give up sugar?(I'm throwing white flour in there too)

I'll check in later- hope everyone is planning a great day.

Brenda

Before I forget, Sabine are you ready for Thursday? What time do you go in? Did you figure out what you'll need food-wise?
Let me know if there's anything we can do!:)

Oh Brenda! This sounds good!:) I have been looking for someone to kick the habit with me but no one has it like I do.I don't eat much white bread,or pasta so that won't be hard. The choc.is going to be the hardest.I guess I have to start right now b/c I already had 2 timbits today(not a big deal). But I have ate healthy so far.I had 3 egg whites in a wrap at 7:30 and yogurt and cottage cheese at 10:30.I am sort of going to eat the BFL way.I REALLY beleive that it is 90% diet, not a doubt in my mind.
Are we going to allow ourselves a treat every once in a while? Like once at the end of the month OR if we go out for dinner with our hubbys(you know, just on special occasions?) What about drinking alcohol? I don't drink much but if we go out for dinner I could.I never drink juices. Its normally water or coffee.I just want to get control over my cravings.I think that once we get control, everything will taste sweeter and we won't need much when we crave it anyway.I think we will see great results by doing this:) Im excited!
Anyway,I am at work all day until 5.My plan is to do the PS series this week.Today will be one of the upper body tapes and cardio.I am not sure what cardio but i would think that running will be involved.
So,does anyone else want to join our cravings kicker? Doesn't just have to be sweets..it can be anything you don't like in your diet.Chips, pop, pasta, white bread......
Lori:)

Hey Gals,
Well Brenda and LoriH count me in on the sugar thing (which translates in to desserts for me.) It is a constant battle for me. I've been pretty much dessert free for the last three weeks. You would think it would be getting easier, but oh man, yesterday was rough. I wound up eating a bunch of peanut butter on bread - this was after dinner mind you. The bread was rye;-) not white....

Brenda, I'm convinced a lot of this eating struggle, especially with sweets, is related to hormones. I wish I could keep mine at a steady state...

Well this morning I did supersets as is. I was un satisfied at the end of the workout. I used weights at least as heavy as cathe and I maxed out on some exercises but something just wasn't 'right' about the workout (could be my mood) Here are my (current) complaints. First - too much fooling around with equipment. Second - the core work just doesn't get it for me. I think I never quite get my positioning. 3 - forget those explosive lunges, they just hurt my knees and I can't see that they are doing My legs any good. I did step ups instead (but couldn't get enough in the amount of time to do any real good.) 4 - No matter what I try I just can't get 'set' for those preacher curls.

Brenda, I like rhythmic step. There are moves that are repeated that get your heart rate up but there is really no blast or interval section. I do find it is one where I 'sweat buckets' even without the intervals and it wears out my quads. The moves are fun and the challenge is interesting because you do combo 1 right side, combo 2 left side, combo 3 right side, combo 1 left side, combo 2 right side, combo 3 left side (rather than combo 1R 1L 2R 2L 3R 3L) My other main cardio source is Christi Taylor.

Hello to everyone. I'll be checking back to see what's what!

Good Afternoon Ladies;

Well I did manage to do BodyMax but my goodness I didn't realize how long it is; last time I did this one was in the beginning of December. Guess I had forgotten , but no more as I'm logging in my workouts this year, just so I can keep a tally of how many times I do a particular workout with what it's for and how long it is. By the end of this year I should know which ones I do the most.

I have my 5 y/o home from school today as another crud is making it's way through her classroom and she had a low grade fever this morning. I'm one who does not send my kiddos to school if they even look sick.... wish others did the same...:::shrug:::: oh well.

The kitchen floor is making progess and my hands don't hurt as much today...well not yet.

Brenda, I don't use any added sugar to my diet but on occassion I do treat myself to a lifesaver or sugarless chewing gum.
I've done the BFL challenge twice, the 1st 6 months of last year. It worked but I was not a nice person to be around and I just miserable. I found that I can't have anything restrictive as it just does not work for me and as a Taurean I love good food. So WW does great for me. I also did a Firm clean eating routine years ago but once again what works for me is something telling me not how to eat ..yanno?

Any way ...ladies I have tons of things on my plate today so I'll try to pop in sometime this evening when things are not so hectic here.

Have a great day Gals!:7

Joy, glad you're joining our sugarless crusade- the more the merrier. Of course its right before Valentine's Day (that's probably better). I can usually stay away from the flour but lately I've been having more of the kids' foods (noodles, mac & cheese, etc) and they brought home a batch of cookies the other day that I couldn't stop eating.

I lost alot of weight a few years ago when I stopped refined sugar, flour and then was really careful about portion control. I'm going to do more of that hand in hand w/the Zone since I seem to feel fuller when I eat this way.

Lori, I'd say yes to a treat every now and then but that's how I end up free-falling so I'd personally have to wait a few weeks before doing it.

So far so good.

Shywolf, what do you treat yourself with if you only have sugarless gum? Hopefully I'll be there at some point!

Hi all, sorry for missing yesterday's check-in. My son was sick, and since I couldn't take him to school, he had to go with me while I met with the flooring people. The meeting went much, much longer than I wanted, and then my husband wanted to check out Home Depot, so the day went by without me being able to do anything for myself.

Looks like today will be the same. It was the painting folks this morning. My son no longer has a fever, but I decided he stay home just to make sure.

Company will be coming on Sunday. Yup, the stress just keeps on building.

Hope I can make tomorrow's check-in. Have a great day, everyone.

Good afternoon everyone,

First chance I've had to sit down and breathe all day!

This morning was Step Blast and it went much better than the first time I did it. The first time I was so fried at the end from concentrating on learning the 3 combos that I had no extra umph for the 3 blasts. Today had enough umph for 2 and 2/3 blasts (I just couldn't do the last two of 6 in the 3 blast) so I felt great. I'm really starting to warm up to this workout. Brenda, do you have this one? You could easily just do one or two sections as an add on to some other workout.

Thanks Brenda, for asking about my upcoming surgery. I'm going grocery shopping after work today and will pick up the mirade of mushy foods that I'll be living on for the next 10 days to 2 weeks. Lots of protein shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, applesauce, cream of __________ soup, pudding, ice cream, and oatmeal/cream of wheat. You'd think I'd be excited at the prospect of eating ice cream every day yet it gets so old really fast. Last time I had this surgery (this is my 4th and last one) I wound up craving salad! It's wierd what deprivation will do to you.

So ladies, while I think I need to watch my sugar intake, with my surgery I will not be joining you. I will be rooting you on from the sidelines!

Pinky, be sure you don't overdo everything and kick in with the insomnia again!

Joy, do you know if the Christi Humble Beginnings has shipped yet? I want it now!!! (Wow, doesn't that sound like a spoiled child?!?!)

Anyone heard from Tracy? My mind is drawing a blank but I think she's been off for a few days, hasn't she?

Hi to Lorihart and Lorisax :D . Have I missed anyone?

Gotta run!

Hi again,
Brenda I know just what you mean about the 'occasional' treat turning in to a lengthy reward.... It is really funny how I can justify to myself the continued dessert eating once I get started. And I can eat volumes of stuff - especially cookies and EACH & EVERY ONE TASTES AS GOOD AS THE FIRST ONE!!! A few years ago I cut out dessert. at the same time I stopped eating fried foods, sodas - yes even those with artificial sweeteners- junk food like chips and really tried to eat healthy. I didn't count calories. I lost to my lowest point ever and kept it off for 1 1/2 years. Then I started with the sweets and here I am with those extra pounds. Now I am by no means fat, but I was down right lean and mean. I don't know if I can make that sacrifice again. But I KNOW that I don't want to be any heavier.

Pinky I'm thinking about you and hoping everything works out okay.

Sabine I'm thinking we have one more day before your oral surgery. I'm rather curious what you are having done...forgive my intrusion and I understand if you don't care to elaborate. BTW I checked Christie's web site but couldn't find anything that said the humble beginnings had shipped. :( I WANT THEM NOW!!!

See you guys tomorrow - almost time for me to bolt out of here (oh did I mention - meeting husband at Italian restaurant for dinner- the one with the FANTASTIC bread sticks?:9 (I PROMISE I won't have dessert...)

Hi Joy,

Yes, the surgery is Thursday morning about 8:45. Tomorrow will be a brutal day so I need to get everything done pretty much tonight after work.

No intrusion at all. It is fairly common for people of northern European descent to suffer degenerative bone loss in the jaw, which is what is happening to me. Basically, the jaw bone is thinning to the point that my teeth become unstable and risk falling out because they have nothing to adhere to. The procedure consists of peeling away the gum tissue to expose the bone and injecting this gooey material that a) immediately stabilizes the teeth and b) will in about 18 months become bone thus reinforcing the whole structure of the jaw. The doctor then stitches the flap caused by the incision shut. For good measure, since most northern Europeans also have very thin gum tissue, the doctor will sew on synthetic gum to the existing gum to reinforce that as well. By the time I'm done I'll have about 40-60 stitches in my mouth. Because so much has been exposed and is just held together by stitches, I have to be extremely careful of things lodging in between the stitches and of tearing the stitches prematurely. Therefore, no small seeds, no real chewing, no vigorous tooth brushing in the surgical area, no flossing in the surgical area, and no strong sucking that can pull off sewn tissue. It pretty much sucks!

Hope you have (had) a great dinner!

Good luck on your surgery Sabine.Sounds a little painful but it will all be over soon.
Well, how did everyone sugar free day go.Mine sucked!:-( I know they say its all in your head...but it ain't in mine.I MUST be addicted.
Anyway,it wasn't that bad...I exaggerated but I know that the days to come will be harder.I often say I admire people who quit smoking. Its hard to give up things that you enjoy but know that they do your body more harm then good.I think I craved it atleast twice today. And I was pretty moody earlier!x(
I worked out even though I didn't want to.I did PS tri, sho, and ches. And I just finshed a 65 min run.I kept thinking that I could go for another little while...then another little while.Thats how it worked.I could be getting a littttttle touch of burnout.I haven't had a day off in a while but I know that thursday, sunday and monday could be a write off.
Thats it for me.I think I am going to take my mag and hop in the tub. That should get me ready for a good nights sleep.
Lori:)
