Good Morning Everyone,
And it is finally a beautiful morning here. The sun is shining and it looks wonderful out....but yet it is still cold! I was lying in bed and thinking of summer:eek: I was thinking how nice it would be if it were summer and I opened the door to see how warm it was out AND then that took me back to cuba! I was in cuba almost a year ago and I would get up in the morning, the sun would just be comming up and I would be thinking"it doesn't look very warm out there today" Then I would open up the door and the heat would knock me off of my feet.DH says that we are going again this year but I don't see how thats possible.I really don't know where the funds are going to come from.Last year was a spend year,I went to alot of places and got behind on alot of bills.I am finally caught up on everything and I don't want to do that again.Anyway......
Pinky-I think you must be alot like myself.Working out is never the problem....I could workout until the cows come home. But its the damage that I do when I am not working out that matters.BUT today is the first of March and I am up to something.I am not sure what.I will just see how the day goes.I am going to try making some smarter decisions but I am still looking at eating the BFL way and I will start that with my first meal.I may even cut out the carbs at dinner and just see how I feel for the rest of the evening.I have to work until 10:30 so I can't just go to bed when hungry strikes:-(
Tracy-How did the house hunting go?Good luck!
I watched extreme makeover last night(i love that show) and there was a stay and home mom on there. She was an aerobics instructor and she was going back to school.Anyway, she had alot of face work done, her boobs done and a little tummy tuck. But man, when she started working out again...what a difference. She went from a size 12 to a size 4 in 5 weeks.I don't know how much lose skin she had around her middle but nontheless she was motivation to me.She had a six pack and a nice waistline.Would be nice to have a personal trainer wouldn't it????????????? Who brought that up before??? Did you ever decide?
Today is cardio for me.I did supersets yesterday and I can feel it in my legs, chest and biceps.
I like this week b/c the only morning I am working is friday morning so I get my computer time in:) But I do work 3 night though, thats not to bad.Could be worse!
Anyway,How is everyone else doing? Lets see if I can remember everyone...Shywolf,LoriSax,Brenda,Elizabeth,Tracy,Pinky,ME:) ,Sabine,Joy and Lisa...did I get them all?
I will check back later,
Lori:)

Hello ladies,

Lori, I'd love to go to Cuba, too.:) Actually, I haven't been abroad since 1999. I'd love to go home and sleep under a grove of coconut trees by the beach sometime. I used to do that a lot as a kid. I hope BFL works for you. Hang in there when you start feeling like falling off the wagon. The first two weeks are usually the hardest. When I cut out the Cinnabon, the cheesecake, the chocolate cake from Boston Market, and my salty/cheesy snacks like Cheetos, I felt so deprived for the first three days. But then I got through it and for the rest of the first week and all of the second week, I ate a lot of fruit and salad.

Elizabeth, thanks for the tips on knee strengthening. I think I'll be doing kickboxing exclusively as my cardio for the next two months. It's all the high-impact stepping as well as those endless squats and lunges that are doing my knees in. I'll be using my Tae Bo workouts more since they are lower impact.

Tracy, I hope you find a house soon. Is your daughter out of her cast yet?

Lisa, I'm looking forward to meeting you finally.:D

Hellos to Brenda, ShyWolf, Sabine, Joy and Lorisax.

Today will be S&H tri/bi. I was going to do chest/back but I think I was curled up too much in bed for a long time last night. There's a kink in my right shoulderblade area and I don't want to make it worse.

Later,
Pinky

Good morning;
Well the snow is gone and would you beleive we are expecting a high of 71 degrees? Outstanding ...I love the weather today. So bright and shiny , birds are out and driving my poor indoor kitties crazy by the window :)

Lori hang on with BFL if that's what you want to do esp around week 6 for some odd reason that 6th week is something else.

I did SJP this morning and decided on doing a mish mosh of blended rotations LOL; a week from one then a week from another rotation.
Anyway just wanted to checkin real quick , have lots to do and sitting here nothing will get done so I'll catch up with everyone else sometime today when I am done with my duties and errands. As of right know I'll be the soon to be happy owner of the troy lit bar . Woo Hoo! I ordered it this morning. I just got the bar as I have plates from my other 'Firm padded bar'. I'm really looking forward to getting it...and I didn't preorder those dvds either ha!

:7

Hello everyone,
After checking out the weekend check-in, let me say...
Pinky, glad you are feeling the benefits of letting your knees rest.
Sabine, Circuit Max is a killer. Do you remember honeybunch who posted here quite a bit? She was very strong and fit and she always said Circuit Max just wiped her out. About a high step. I really really like mine. It is so versitile. I had been using old firm boxes (sold before the infamous FL) Just yesterday I decided to do MIS abs and remembered I needed a step then said to myself "but hey, I can just use my high step set on 8"" I only had to buy the top as I had purchased extra risers when I first bought my step. (BTW, no Christie's yet)
Well Elizabeth, you have one stubborn cat. Is his name "Mr. Cat"? Hopefully he is feeling better. (I have one full-time cat and 1 part-time cat that goes to college from time to time)
Lisa, so glad you are doing better. Looks like you are doing just the right workouts. I hope your son is 100% from his illness.
WOW Shywolf, I'm very very impressed with your 20# loss. You are going to LOVE your troy lite barbell. One of the best investments I made!
Well LoriH, you sure made up for being lazy with your mega workout.
Tracy I'd love to hear more about your MI trip. What was your impression of the area (college towns are usually so cool) But I would think it would be a cultural shock from Annapolis (is that where you are?)
LoriS are you around?

Lori, I think it was Brenda who was thinking/asking about the PT.
Cuba sounds cool. I've been to many Caribbean islands (alot of the smaller ones) but never to Jamaica, Cuba, Aruba, Bonaire or Caracao.

I started Sabine's rotation on Saturday and of course I had to change it around, but its still her beach rotation.
Saturday I did IMAX (the original) 8" step, all of the intervals all the way. And I'M PAYING FOR IT TODAY!! YES 2 DAYS LATER. Okay, my lunges off the board (I should be able to get a soccer ball etc) interval was more of the marble thing all the way. The plyo's interval (Fire in the Thighs) could have been deeper and the Power Scissors interval, well maybe they were kindergarten scissors not the sharp adult ones, and the tucks, well my feet did come off the ground..
Sunday I did the Push/pull upper body x2 premix. Went pretty heavy. Followed with ab hits MIS/S&H chest (planks only) combo. Later I did Pure & Simple Strech (Karen Voight)
Today I did Hi/Lo - Christie Taylor's Still Jumpin Just for fun. (that helped make my legs sore too)
Tomorrow is legs (ugh) but I don't think I can face LL so I think I will probably do the PP lower body x2 premix instead.

that's it for now.
-joy

Good Morning everyone,

I'm so jealous to hear of everyone else's good weather. Today is rain and more rain and chilly too! The weather service says is should clear out by tonight and that for the next few days it will be dry. I'm hoping some sunshine will creep in there as well.

Today was the first day of the tank top arms/beach butt rotation so I did Push Pull upper body premix X 2. This one snuck up on me. The first time through the 2 exercises I'm thinking 'no big deal. I can handle this'. But the second time through I really felt it, especially during the biceps and triceps exercises. So, great way to start the week and the rotation. Tacked on All Step abs which I haven't done in forever! All those slow counts and man, were my abs burning!

Lorihart- good luck with the BFL eating. I also think that trying to reduce carbs late at night would be helpful also. Is that part of BFL?

Pinky- yes, do tell, how is the company behaving? How do you like Taebo? I had issues with Billy's uneven counting and some of the moves being done at warp speed in past Taebo's. Which series do you like the best?

Joy- I think everyone deserves big congrats when they make it through IMAX2. And on an 8 inch step?!?!?! WOW!! I'm also pretty sure that I don't look as good as Cathe and crew doing the moves. That's why I'm glad I'm in the comfort of my own home! Finally, I want my new Christi's!!!!

Tracy- yes, news of your trip and thoughts about the move, new city, etc.

Elizabeth- thanks for all your kind words and encouragement!

Hello to Brenda (did you get my package yet?), Lorisax, and Lisa.

Im back again,
I just finished a good workout.I did 1/2 BC and a 60 min run.I was going to do all of BC but I figured that if I was taming my eating down a little then I probably shouldn't go over board with the workouts.Prehaps I am working out and not eating enough.I just counted up my cals for today and so far it as been 700.And I only have one meal left. But what do you do? I eat when I am hungry. When I eat clean and make good choices I end up in the very low range and if I eat to make up for the cals then I feel bloated and stuffed all day.
Sabine-Cutting out the carbs after 5 isn't a BFL thing.I am just going to try eating every 2-3 hrs.And cut the carbs out after 5 or 7?I am going to try it today and see how I feel after dinner.it may not be the best thing for me.But then again, who as piles of energy after dinner???????
Anyway, thats it for me.I am going to go get ready for work and decide what I am going to do with those pork chops.
Lori:)

Hi everyone~
only have a minute...

so much for checking in over the weekend. I forgot today was the first and didn't look at the rotation and did Imax2. I'm going to experiment w/heavy weights and cardio daily so I may be adjusting the workout but will still be following.

I got the tapes Friday Sabine- thank you!! I actually did SH Legs w/MIC step on Saturday and it was great! I started to do the shoulders and realized I was losing my concentration so I stopped. I'm really going to try to encorporate these this month. Really, thanks so much.:)

Damn, I just lost my paragraph dedicated to you Joy and imax 1-
I'll get back to it later today. Very funny!

Gotta pick up the kids-

Yes Lori it was me who said I'd love to see a PT for a few visits but its on my list of things to do before I die which is geting longer.

Hope all is well w/everyone!
Brenda

Hello everyone,

I did a 50 minute Pilates tape yesterday. It went well, but I was coughing more afterwards than earlier in the day. Today I decided to just sleep as late as I could, since it's back to work. Oh, and it's my son Michael's 10th birthday today! Joy, thanks for your words. Michael is better, but he's still having headaches. I talked to his doctor today. She wants to see him (we're going this evening, poor kid!). She thinks he may have sinusitis, but is probably going to schedule him for a CAT scan, because she wants to be sure. He's had headaches occasionally in the past, but he's had them every day since he got sick. I feel bad for him, he's been poked and prodded so much!

Also, Joy, congrats on IMAX on an 8" step! I was happy the other wee because I did IMAX2 all the way through with no break on a 4" step!

Tracy, do you really live in Annapolis? I live in Laurel. I hope that your trip to Michigan went well.

Pinky, I sent you an email with my flight info. I'm looking forward to meeting you very much also!

Shywolf, you'll love the troylite. You can actually lift heavier with it than the Firm padded bar!

Hellos to Brenda, Sabine, Lorihart, Lorisax and Elizabeth.

Lisa

Hello All!

Today's a beautiful day- and Sabine, here's wishing better weather comes your way very soon!:) Did TS1 and when I was done, felt like doing a bit more cardio so I did the interm and adv portion of TS4 (of KP&C)-felt great, though there was a moment when I thought: *WhatamI,nuts?!*:p

Joy- thanks for your good wishes about our cat. His real name is *Kai* which means naughty in Cantonese- and boy, did (and still does!) it fit the four-week old orphan kitten we adopted from my vet's office. When he did go, well, let me just put it this way- there was PLENTY of a sample to give my vet last week!:7 He's doing better and on meds. I'm curious about your cats- tell me more. Happy to hear you started the new rotation- from what I understand IMAX ain't easy and the fact you completed all the intervals speaks volumes about your fitness level and your hard work and dedication to achieve that. So there!...;-)

Sabine- you're welcome. I'm happy you're feeling better and beach rotation- here you come!:) And I'm with you - I'm happy to be in the comfort and privacy of my own home when working out!...:)

Pinky- You're welcome for the tips. Good luck with the kickboxing. I think it'll be a nice change for your knees and will help strengthen them. Take it slower than Billy if you need to- eg not as fast kicks or reps. If you need any help- I'm here, as all the other fine ladies are on this board! Let us know how you're doing. BTW, been meaning to tell you- you are a wonderful writer! I read that write poetry- well, you definitely know how to express yourself well!:)

Shywolf- happy to hear you ordered the Troylite bar- you're gonna love it!:) I know I get my stuff from Fitness1st within 2 days so you should be getting it shortly- yipee!...

Tracy- I can understand about *dreading* the prospect of moving- it's alot of hard work, coordinating activities, etc but you'll get through it. Please take some time for yourself (ie working out)- even if it's only a little here and there. It'll help with any stress you may experience. Happy to hear you and DH liked your new location, congrats on his new job and the best to all of you!

Lisa- take care! You certainly had alot on your plate last month and if I may, you're a great mom!

Hellos to Lorisax, Lorihart and Brenda.

Elizabeth

I finally checked the weekend edition- Lori, good luck w/the carbs/diet stuff. I've found it so confusing to figure out specifically what works for me but just like Pinky I've noticed it around my waist which I never had a problem w/ before. Pinky, how are you eating now - still the Zone? I'm modifying a little and still watching my sugar carefully, but I'm not as strict as before.

What are we calling this month's rotation? Beach Butt?? something that reminds me that bathing suits are right around the corner!

Lisa, I didn't know you're in Laurel- we're in Chevy Chase! small world...

hope all is well- there's fighting and crying going on...

Brenda

Hi again everyone, lots of checking in today. Great to hear you're all doing great and looking forward to another month of workouts.

Joy, my hats off to you. The original IMAX on an 8" step. WOW!!!

Sabine, I understand what you're saying about Billy Blanks' uneven counting. I did Foundation from his 2004 series, and that taught me a lot about how to jab and kick correctly so that you don't injure your back, shoulders, hips or knees. I also did his Abs/Butt workout from his Get Ripped series. Now that one was poorly produced. It was just a bunch of moves from different live workouts put together haphazardly on vhs/dvd. There was a part where I only got to do one side of my body, so I rewound the DVD so I could do it on the other. Judging from the Foundation workout, I think his 2004 series is the one I'll like best.

Lorihart, I wish you luck on cutting those carbs after 5 or 7. I used to eat a lot of broccoli and asparagus, as that just came out the next morning, if you know what I mean...:p It simply isn't something I can do for an extended period of time. I noticed that if I go too low on carbs, I binge on the bad ones later on, like brownies and Doritos. It helps me if I fill up on oatmeal or whole wheat bread in the afternoon, with some protein, of course. Then I don't feel like I deprived myself too much and could live on green beans and other low-glycemic veggies for the next 14 hours.

Brenda, I'm still on the Zone, or at least ZONE-BASED meals. I try not to obsess so much on getting the ratio perfect. It's even more important now that I'm barely doing any lower body workouts. Lately I've been having sugar and carb cravings, especially before, during and after my last period, so I've been munching on lots of fruit.

Lisa, happy birthday to Michael!:) I wish him perfect health for the rest of the year. I'll check your flight info in a bit. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we ALL can meet one day?

Elizabeth, yes, I used to be a writer in a past life (e.g., pre-husband and pre-toddler). Goodness, ten years ago I was writing for a local newspaper and magazine in Columbia, Missouri. Three years later I was writing how-to articles on PageMaker 4.0 -- I think that software is now on its 7.0 version -- for PC Novice while I was working a desk job in computer graphics. I have a dusty portfolio of design samples from my old job. Every time I pore through them, it's like going through someone else's stuff. I'll definitely flag you when I have questions about kickboxing. I always wanted to learn a martial art since childhood and kickboxing is the closest I think I can get to it in my "old" age.}(

Didn't we agree to call this month's rotation Sabine's Beach Bodies or something like that?

As for company... Well, the sister left for California last weekend. But guess what? She's ba-aaack! Apparently, the accommodations there weren't to her expectations. She'll be leaving again sometime this week to live with a friend somewhere -- at this point, she can fly off to Mars for all I care. BUT she's leaving her daughter behind, under the care of her mom. I told my husband last night that I have this nagging feeling that her problems are going to hound us for a long time. My husband assured me that they will all be leaving at the end of the month. I don't really believe that since his family thinks we are so well-off that they can live off of us for a while, and it is very Asian to take in your family even though you really don't want to. It is an OBLIGATION under the guise of PRIVILEGE. A DUTY relegated by TRADITION and coerced into your belief system as this grand idea of the sanctity of family. This is one of the many reasons why I immigrated. And yet it haunts me to no end. I could go to Mars, and it'll chase me out there, too, just to remind me of my "roots". There are roots that can choke the life out of the creatures around them...

Anyway, two weeks down, four to go, I HOPE.:)

See you all tomorrow,
Pinky

Good evening to everyone! Hope you all had productive days today.

Sabine, today was the official start of your rotation, and I already blew it (kind of). It was a beautiful day today, and I spent over 4 hours raking leaves in the yard (total count was 37 bags). However, I am counting that as my upper-body workout since my shoulders and upper back are already sore. So, I guess that means that I am still on-track with the program, right?!

Lorihart- good luck on BFL. I tried that once, and as always, I was good at starting it, but not good at sticking to it. I have the same reactions that Pinky was talking about, when I cut carbs too much, I end up binging. I have re-started tracking my food at Fitday since I have really been careless about my eating lately and it is definitely starting to show around my waist.

Pinky, thanks so much for remembering my daughter - she got her cast off last week before we left. Kids are so resilient it is amazing - she's running around like nothing ever happened.

Elizabeth - thanks for your words of encouragement about the impending move. I tend to get very stressed out about things, and I need to remember to take it one day at a time, and I think maintaining my workout schedule will be very important in keeping me sane and healthy.

So it looks like in the next day or two we will definitely know if we are going...the deal is being finalized. I had heard so much about Ann Arbor, that seeing it was a bit of a let down. It seems to be a very vibrant city, but physically it doesn't have much to offer. I guess Annapolis is a tough act to follow - I can walk 10 min. from my house down to the beach and the Chesapeake Bay where we keep a crab pot off our neighborhood pier... Ann Arbor is surrounded by nothing but corn fields.
What surprised me the most was how incredibly expensive housing was there - Lisa and Brenda can attest for the high cost of living here in the Washington Metro area, but Ann Arbor was just as expensive, if not more so!!! I couldn't believe it, and I don't understand it! My only explanation is that maybe the students and their need for housing drive the cost up?!

Anyways, thanks everyone, for asking and caring about what's going on with me.
Sleep well and talk to you all tomorrow.
Tracy
