Basic Step

I received a Cathe DVD (Low Impact Step) DVD for christmas and i watched it this morning so i could get used to it for tonight when i start working out. It was really hard to figure out which foot she was using. She only said basic step and not left or right basic, for example. Has anyone else noticed this and how do you make sure to keep switching legs??

Thanks!

Cathe works opposite you, so it looks like you are using the same foot. She is facing you, and stepping up with her left foot, but you follow along with your right. Does this make sense to you? Maybe someone else can explain it better. She usually cues you if you are changing feet. I often do a routine on a step lower than normal on my first try, too. That way I can concentrate on the foot work.

yes that makes since,

so basically move in the direction that Cathe is moving but you will be using the opposite foot...

I have often thought it would be a great idea to have an optional rear view in step videos (especially beginning ones)

you know like a picture in picture on your TV? A little square at the bottom corner that shows Cathe from the rear view doing the routine...but make the view optional from the Chapter Menu...

or also film the entire routine from behind as if you were standing behind her - just like in step class at the gym (make this an optional view also)

oh maybe it is a dumb idea...but I have tons of those!

GOod luck!

It's as if you're doing the workout in a mirror. That's the easiest way to look at it.

Although I'm sure many husbands would enjoy that, I'm not sure I wanna look at some instructor's butt for an entire workout;)

I think it solely depends upon just whose butt were looking at--LOL!!
