Basic Step good w/o?

hi -- i'm new to Cathe (and step) and jumped right in with Terminator. big mistake! i'm fit and thought i could keep up but i am lost on the steps. i'm going to get Basic Step, but am concerned that it will be a light workout - is it? will it still give me a good work out while learning the basic moves???

You can always make the step higher or lower, depending on your fitness level. Many of Cathe's signature moves are in there, so it's worth doing just to learn them.
 
I moved from Basic to Low Impact Step in no time. I enjoyed Low Impact step, its like a very mini Imax 2 for beginners. You get a handle for Cathe's basic moves and then there are blasts. Its a great place to start also.

When I first tried Cathe step, about a year ago, I bought Lowmax. Big mistake! I got so frustrated, I ended up trading it, and not comming back to try Cathe's step workouts until just recently. I am now doing Basic Step and Low impact Step. I have been doing Cathe's strength workouts for some time and I consider myself to be at an advanced (strength)level. High intermediate level for step aerobics. It just takes some of us a little longer to do the complex choregraphy!! ;) Dont give up!!! I wont. I have the Classics vol.1 and I plan on moving to those soon!

this is all so reassuring! you should have seen my face when i started doing the terminator! i was like - what, are you KIDDING??

Me too Sherry! I've only done Low Max twice but each time I've done it I have to resist the urge to take the DVD and dump it in the trash x(. I'm not ready to give up just yet but it's frustrating. I love Low Impact Step though. It had a much lower frustration factor too.

I highly reccomend Low Impact Step... Its got a sculpt mix and a Circuit Premix that is KILLER! Cathe breaks down 4 or 5 of her regular moves in this one but its a really good solid tough workout. I think unless you are BRAND NEW to exercise basic step is really way too easy and repetitive. I had never stepped in my life and only did it 2x before moving on. :7
 
i did the Basic Step w/o yesterday and did find it a bit easy. next time i'll raise my step for a better work out.

i am glad i got it though - i did parts of the Terminator today and was so much more confident in doing the steps and was able to keep up!

i'll look into low impact step, thanks again
