Barry's Bootcamp kicked my arse

Ok for anyone who was interested in this but wondered about the intensity.....its INTENSE. I just did arms and abs and of course each disk has a cardio segment in the 2nd half. Well the weight work was great but the intense cardio...well I thought I might die and a few curse words came to mind. It reminded me of when I was in college and had to run a mile and half in under 15 minutes for a class. Let's just say my lungs felt like they were burning at the end....and I LOVED IT. Ima a scared about tomorrow though.
I have 4 more disks to get through but so far I'm really happy with this purchase. Not for beginners and not for anyone with knee problems.

Sounds tempting!! I love to feel like I've climbed a mountain after I'm done a workout. What exactly is the format, mostly army type drills?

It's basically what the name says because its kept very simple. If you like structure in eating then the fat loss for idiots is interesting since it is basic. You pick out of a list of foods what you enjoy eating and then a very basic menu is developed with 2-3 items to eat at each meal. Basically all "clean" foods. It gives you 4 meals/day and rotates the protein and carbs for days 1-11 and then you get 3 cheat days. The 11 days are strict (with the foods you chose) and you eat until satisfied but not full. Your 3 cheat days you eat anything you want but you only eat until you are satisfied and not full. I personally like Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle better because it has a whole lot of information and lets you tailor your diet but there's more work involved in that as well.

I love these workouts. I got them for Christmas and they are so what I love in a workout. They are athletic and intense. When I really want a long, bootcamp, kickbutt workout I'll do the plyo section first, the weights next, and then finish off with the treadmill section. You can buy them on the Home Shopping Network for a lot less than mine cost ordering directly from Berry. I had also read that some retailers like Costco would be carrying them, but I was just there last week and I didn't see them. The deal you can get from HSN make these a must in my book. I love them!:D

I have not gotten through all the disks yet but today I did Legs and Butt. Toward the end of the leg portion I was really feeling the burn. This worked me differently but I still love Cathe's Butts n Gutts...my fav. The cardio did not kill me as much as last nights disk but it was so challenging that I was taking a few mini breaks to catch my breathe. This is my first time doing these and I have not been able to get all the way through doing it as fast or as long as the people in this class. So far from what I see of the cardio on this series is that is a lot of plyo work, lunges off a high step, burpees, jumping jacks, scissor lunges on floor, mountain climbers, football drills, etc. 1 hour long.

I wish I had a treadmill because I would do that too. That's where I got them from...HSN. I think it almost works out to a little over $10 a disk with their price.

Thanks, Diva. I'm gonna get this. I've been on the fence for awhile and you just pushed me over :)

You won't be disappointed! Instead of doing another cathe rotation I'm doing this instead since I got them in time. Probably will add B&G at the end though then go back to Gym Styles

I've had these since they came out. I like the Arms & Abs one best also. I like Barry the best as an instructor also.....and wish he was on more of the workouts. I did these when I first got them and actually lost a pound or 2 in a short period of time. That's not bad for me since weight never wants to budge and I only need to lose around 7-10 pounds. The plyo can be a bit much every day.....but they are very short intense segments. This is the only series I've been able to get my abs sore with since P90X. I'm gearing up to do a rotation of these.......but I'm waiting for my DH to finish P90X so I can use the treadmill in the basement on some days to do the treadmill version of the cardio.

When I first rec'd mine, I did 2 of the cardio segments back to back for a cardio day and it was tough!

I really like Barry's style. He has that sort of "mad scientist" persona and he's constantly pushing you .........he's relentless. Love it.

Only downside is no stretch....but you can always do that on your own. Also, some people might not be safe warming up with jumping jacks and some of the higher intensity moves he uses........but you can always do your own warm up also!

I agree this were a very good purchase. I can't believe they are trying to sell them to the general population via HSN since they are so advanced. Maybe some couch potatoes will get inspired to get in tip top shape!

Candi - I hope you ordered from HSN so you can return if you dont' like them. I always get nervous when someone orders something that I say I like....since I tend to like a large variety of workouts and I know some ladies here are extremely picky with instructors. I hope you like them and find them challenging.

Diva Girl - I was just curious how you were using these. One a day? I did that when I first got them using the non-treadmill cardio and the daily plyo's was too much for my legs ....impact, etc. I just wondered if you had any great ideas. I know I couldn't run every day on the treadmill yet. Have you done BArry's treadmill workout yet? He has some ways to use the treadmill that I never dreamed of. Glad you like them. I'm going to start a rotation next week (I think) but I'm still trying to figure a rotation that is safe and effective. I'd appreciate your input.
(I tried to PM this to you but it came back saying your mailbox didn't exist??)

Lora,

Yes, I ordered via HSN. Based on several comments here, I have a feeling I am going to like them :)

I do, however, value your opinion very much because you have experienced such a high variety of workouts. Thank you!

I like these workouts too. I don't think you will be disappointed as long as you work at your level and don't try to kill yourself like I did.:)

Love these!! The fifth day all body weight bootcamp kinda makes me cry. I have to push hard to get through the cardio portions on most of these, but I really love everything about them. I usually pop in a Cathe DVD and do a stretch with her and the girls when I'm done.
But golly, I've noticed some great results in just the last couple of weeks with these. I'm missing the Cathe's though (I snuck in Step Blast last week) so I think I'm going to have to do a few and then go back to Barry next week.
I have to say, though, that I am soooo glad I bought these!!!!
