Bare Minerals Foundation Question

Hello Bare Minerals users,

I ordered the foundation and mineral veil from QVC last month. I really like the mineral veil- definitely helps control oil. I'm not sure how I feel about the foundation yet, though. I like to use it with a small brush under my eyes as concealer, but I find it difficult to cover any red marks- pimple, scar- on the rest of my face. I know the product has a learning curve, and I'm wondering if any of you experience this. Also, when I swirl my brush in the lid of the foundation container, a thin residue develops. It looks as if I wet my brush and made a thin paste of the minerals, but I am not wetting the brush. I tried washing the brush, but it didn't help. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Thanks so much in advance for any responses.

Gina --

I bought the Bare Minerals from one of the stores here locally. I have the Bisque, foundation, Warmth (comes in handy during the winter) and Mineral Veil. I use the Bisque as a concealer and to cover any other blemishes I might have. You would use a small amount of Bisque on a small brush blowing or tapping off the excess swirling on where needed. Then apply the foundation as you normally would. The bisque is lighter both in color and consistency. Works really well.

I don't wear make up very often and when I do I keep the foundation to a minimum and light as I don't like the feeling of having anything on my face except for moisturizer. Try using a little less of the foundation; play around with it, you'll find the amount that is just right for you.

The residue you describe could be staining? I live in a dry climate and the lid is stained. Could be you live in humidity and your brush is slightly damp?

Take care! :)

I do almost the same thing...I use a small amount of the same foundation color with an eyeshadow brush...I tap off the excess and just dab on any spots I want to conceal. Then I put the foundation on my whole face as I normally would. I also have some residue on my lid...not sure why--my face is always clean and dry, but my bathroom is humid, so that very well could be it.

I love the Bisque...it helps as a concealer. I also do what the above poster said and apply the Bisque/Bare Minerals makeup with an eyeshadow brush on red spots/under eyes/in corners. Also, sometimes I don't feel like I'm getting the coverage I want but it kind of sets in after a minute or two. I love this stuff and I have tried EVERYTHING and I have oily/acne prone skin at almost 34 years old! I also like their baby buki(sp?) brush....it gives more coverage when applying the makeup...and yes...less is more! Good luck!

I use the Bisque as a concealer as well. In fact, I ordered the Summer Bisque for this time of year since it's a little darker and my face tans a lot.

I have a staining/residue on all my lids, too. It sounds like it's normal since everyone else said the same thing!

Thanks for your input, everyone! I've heard great things about Bisque, but it's too dark for me, so I used my foundation as concealer. I've tried many different variations of the technique, but I think this just isn't for me. I'm going to stick with the mineral veil but go back to my old faithful MAC concealer.

Thanks again!
