I can't remember which Troy barbell set Cathe recommends and uses in her RWH series. Does anyone know off hand or know of another set comparable to it? Thank you!!
We have been searching for the last two days for a barbell set. I have the old Firm four foot padded barbell, which doesn't seem to be available anywhere for purchase. DH doesn't want sand filled plates and the Troy Lite bar only holds a maximum of 65 lbs, so that won't work for STS. I'm going to keep searching on Craig's List for a quality short bar and cast iron plates.
Thank you!! I found a set similar to Troy lite in the Power Systems catalog and its a little less expensive if anyone else is looking and/or interested.
In case anyone else is looking I bought this basic 55" barbell set with 105lbs a few years ago. It's currently $72 plus free shipping at walmart. Although mine didn't come with dumbbells too. Love it for lighter weight work. The plates are wide (troy lite is pretty wide too I believe) and plastic but I haven't had any problems with it. It uses a 1" standard size plate just like the Troy Lite. The bar is only 4lbs too. Not sure how heavy it can go, but if your using all the original plates because of the width of them you'll have no room to add on more. Unless you buy thinner cast iron plates. I also bought 2.5lb and 1.25lb Cap plates for smaller increment increases. And also bought a lock-jaw collar for speed of changing plates out. http://www.walmart.com/ip/US-Weight-105-lb.-Weight-Set-with-Dumbells/16661842 http://www.amazon.com/CAP-Barbell-S...e=UTF8&qid=1441544639&sr=8-4&keywords=cap+2.5 http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Lock...1441545408&sr=8-4&keywords=barbell+collars+1"
